I know that this may sound odd...but I am considering shipping my pillow. :goodvibes We have stayed at really nice hotels for vacations and long weekends..even really, really nice hotels in big cities. But, all of the pillows always are baaaaadddddd for sleeping. I always have a kink in my neck, or sleep badly, whatever. :sad2: Has anyone done this. My husband thinks I'm crazy...he is probably right but I don't want to have 8 bad nights of sleep. And, can I ship it back home from the hotel. And no, this isn't a joke...I'm serious. :flower:

I have never shipped my pillow, I pack it. :) I bought some of those travel bags that you pack clothes etc in and shrink it down. I have both kinds, the ones that you hook up to a vaccuum and the other where you roll it flat.. I bought both at Target and Wal-mart. My 14 dd used them on her trip to Italy and everyone raved over them.. She was able to cram 2 weeks of clothes into a small suitcase.. :goodvibes and have room for souvies :cool1:

I know of others who have shipped stuff down to Fort Wilderness .
hope this helps..

going to the mouse Oct 8 to 15th :) Mnsshp 2 x's :cool1:

I've never shipped a pillow, have only taken the when our vacations included driving. I think it's a great idea. I never seem to find the pillows comfortable either. I say go for it. Just don't forget to ship them back home! :rotfl:

Pillows can be expensive to ship. Do you know the cost?

See if you can squeeze it in your bags.

I have to have my home pillow too... no need to purchase a travel bag though, a tall kitchen trash bag will do the same job at a fraction of the price. Just put the pillow in, sit on it and twist tie up the end... Voila! One shrinky-Dink pillow ::yes::

Great idea if you don't have the room to pack it. You should be able to ship it back from the hotel. Most hotels have this service. Never done it a Disney but have at many hotels while on business. Disney hotels should also have this service since they do do some convention business.

I am so glad to hear that I'am not the only person who packs their pillow.I've been doing it for years and have gotten alot of jokes from family and friends who think I'am nuts.I always pack mine in the bags that you roll out all the air and it makes it really thin and easy to pack. Then as soon as I open the bag,its fluffy again.I also use it to mark which bed and side I want to sleep on.I have to sleep on several pillows (to King and 2 smaller ones)but I only pack the 2 smaller ones, because they will bring up extra pillows from housekeeping if you call, someone else always needs the ones in the closet. So as long as I have 2 big pillows (use resort pillows)and take my 2 smaller ones I can get a good nights sleep.I also use those bags for almost everything that you can get in them and roll out the air.I packed some things that people wouldn't think of putting in them, and they were great.Try anything that you can get in them and roll out the air and you'd be very surprised what you can get in them and everything goes back to its shape as soon as you open them.I ordered mine from QVC and this year I've even order several more packages because, when I don't use them for traveling they are great to put away, winter or summer clothes, blankets, comforter, etc. So its money very well spent. ;) :jumping1:

I take mine too. I put it in a bag and squish it down and pack it like previously mentioned by others. Or if you can't get it to fit you can carry it right on the airplane if you're flying, it doesn't count as a carry on. ;)

Oh sure, you may look silly carrying it around the airport but who cares? :rotfl2:

I used to be a flight attendant and I've seen other people do it. It's not terribly uncommon. Some people bring them to use on the airplane because who wants to use one of those nasty airline pillows that they NEVER wash. :crazy2: If you do bring your own make sure you have one pillow case for traveling and one for sleeping. You don't want to sleep on it after it's been through the security thing and touching those nasty airplane seats!

Okay, now that I know that I'm not the only one...I think we will try to do some type of bag or something. I've got the 3 little to keep in tow so bringing it with me on the flight would probably mean my poor pillow would get lost or, worst, put on the floor.

Thank you for your advice and sanity confirmation! :flower:

I always pack mine ! If I dont I wont sleep well

My pillow is down and packs well. I just fold it in half and put it in my over the shoulder travel bag (counts as a personal item, as I'm not carrying a purse - all items that would be in my purse are in there or in my waist bag). I have been doing this for years and never had a problem.

we take two pillows for sleeping in car and while there. Not an issue because we drive. But I understand how aweful hotel pillows can be.

I always take a pillow, I just lay it in one of the suitcases on top of the clothes. I don't do the shrinking/air thing at all. I always check enough suitcases to have plenty of room for all the things I want to pack, including my pillow. DH laughs at the amount of luggage we take, but I just see no need to pack light as long as I am under the baggage limit from the airline. Which is to say, two large suitcases per person--so, two for me, two for dd, two for dh. Of course, he only packs one, so hey! one more for me, lol!
No, seriously, we always pack one bag with all of our shoes and coats and toiletries, and the other bags for clothes. Pillow usually goes on top of one of the clothes bags.

We take our pillows and blankets. Once we left the pillows at HHI (DVC). We realized they weren't with us when we got home and called the resort. They shipped them Fed Ex for free. Well, my DVC dues probably paid for it, but it was really nice of them!
