Netflix has good relations with Starz. Regardless, the release date is still unknown. They're just letting you put it in your Saved queue.

I've been waiting for Spartacus Blood and Sand to come out of disc - it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Unfortunately, it isn't subtitled, so my wife (who's hearing impaired) will be left out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

wow i was literally just telling my wife yesterday about how good this book is and how it'll probably be turned into a movie.

...as a side note. Kevin is this one of the books that your book discussion group covered? If it is then I just might look into joining a future book discussion. The current book doesn't quite appeal to me but i'm willing to give the next book a chance.

According to my Tivo there is a 15 minute preview of it on 7/17 at 7:55 in the morning.

I just went to Starz and watched the preview and read the synopsis and I'm stunned that I remember so little of the plot! I've read the book twice -- but not in a dozen years or so -- and I feel like I don't remember any of this!

I think I might have to do a quick re-read before it airs. But then again - maybe it's better watching the show with a fuzzy memory so as not to be disappointed if it deviates too much.

I also noticed that Ken Follet has a blog over at Starz about the mini-series. That bodes well, I think!

Perhaps, but be aware of what the most fervent fans of Terry Goodkind's books recently experienced: Despite Goodkind's involvement, the syndicated series Legend of the Seeker was often the target of book-fans' consternation. (Personally, I liked the television series far better than the books.)

I loved it and it looks like the spent some bucks making the series look good.

That being said, it's a 1000 page book being condensed into 16 hours, from what I understand.

Had I not read the book....I would have been completely lost.

Besides...the book gives so much detail. I fell in love with these people.

I dont think the mini-series will have the same impact.
