Great review Brenda! I've read so many glowing reviews of Il Mulino and it is definitely going to have to go on our list to try on a future trip.
Thanks for reading, Heather - it was a terrific meal!
I double dog dare you to got to BK and order a Big Mac and a Frosty.
I didn't ... I don't actually like Burger King and have given up all fast food until our Vegas trip in May in a desperate attempt to lose the zip code the US post office recently assigned to my butt.

My thoughts, exactly.
Great review, and agree with you about oversauced pasta - I prefer a good, strong noodle!
Thanks for reading - glad you liked it!
Looks like we have another restaurant to try! Thanks for the review, Brenda!
Thanks for reading Elin - glad you enjoyed it. We plan ot visiting Il Mulino again this fall - that's how good we thought it was.
I had a full response last night, and then the Dis signed me out again
TDC NALA - thanks for the info about TiW!
B- great review! I do love eggplant caponata, but it's not really pretty to look atJay's lobster risotto looked really YUMMY! Gotta love on the house limoncello shots
I really think we may put this on our list for June. Haven't been all that thrilled with a lot of the Disney restaurants lately, so maybe if we all start eating at the non-Disney restaurants...![]()
Hi Chelle - thanks for reading! We've had a lot of success at restaurants that aren't run by Disney or that don't accept the Dining Plan. Bistro Paris, Bluezoo, Il Mulino, Wolfgang Puck's sushi bar & his formal dining room ... all great food and service!
We LOVE carpaccio- it is by far my hubby's favorite thing, and fortunately for us, they serve it all over the place here in the NY tri-state area. But you are making me think we might want to try il Mulino again....we had been a few years back and were not that impressed (I think I remember the food being waaaaaay over-salted). Now I'm wondering if DH & I will eat at any restaurants on our September trip that AREN'T at the Swalphin! So, so excited they are all accepting TIW...a lot easier to justify going.
Are you going to write about California? Are you already?
Hey there - thanks for reading! Mmmmm, an excess of carpaccio ... life is full of thinly sliced beefy goodness in your world! Il Mulino is definitely worth another try, especially with the TWiT card. As for CA ... I will be posting some pictures one of these days but I don't know that I will be writing very much. Keep an eye on the Bendy thread.

Augustus Gloop, yep looks blah to me too!
Chelsi I have a great recipe from Food & Wine for dark chocolate vanilla carmels with sea salt. They came out amazing and the recipe makes a lot of them. If you or anyone is interested I'll share.
Some people like Gloop and some people don't. I also don't like hash or mish-mash in case anyone is keeping score.

That sounds amazing! I would love it if ou have the time! Thank you!![]()
Ditto!
Loved the review!!! And the cheese...even though it's just kind of piled on there....piles of cheese are a great thing! Everything looked good, nice that you can get a half-entree so there's room for dessert and drink. More places should do that. Glad you reminded us to come find this review!![]()
Thanks for reading Jamie! The cheese was great even if the presentation was lacking. Can't go wrong with tasty parmigiano!
I wish my upcoming trip was longer so I could fit in a meal at Il Mulino! After yours and Nicki's reviews, I really want to try it out!
I've been on a quest for decent Italian food - which is super hard to come across once you've been to Italy.
At the kind of prices they charge, the presentation with that Parmigiana was inexcusable!
You will just have to plan another trip to fit it in! We were very pleased with dinner ... haven't had the truly authentic from the mother-country food like you, but we have some great places here in Stinktown and Il Mulino definitely stands up to them. And yeah, that presentation was lame but the cheese was still good! Thanks for stopping by to take a read!
So glad you liked Il Mulino.
We can't wait to eat there again on our next trip.
YUM!

Thanks for reading! We really thought it was one of the best meals of our trip and are looking forward to dining there again this fall. Mmmmmm, tasty food and booze!
Hope you had a good vaca! I'm heading to S/D in a couple of weeks for a conference. Unfortunately, work won't pay more than a pittance for my meals but I'm going to see if I can partake in some of these restaurants. I eat like a bird so having soup and an appetizer usually does me in anyway and that would keep me in budget. Of course, I will also be buying some meals out of pocket (Le Cellier, here I come!)!
We had a great vacation, thanks for asking! Didn't want to come home ... this time last week we were coming back to SD from an afternoon of winery tours. YUM!!!
This is caponata. I believe it's actually Italian for gloop. It's a mix of roasted eggplant and other vegetable, usually depending on what's locally available. Lots of olive oil and often vinegar. Waiter, I'll have the gloop please.
Chunks of aged cheese

It's the "undisputed king of all cheeses." Serve it to me on a dirty napkin and I'll beg for more.
Does perfectly cooked mean soft and velvety or al dente, which our local places seem to think means "underdone?"
Looks rustic and tasty presented that way. The only limoncello I ever had tasted like cough medicine. That's my usual opinion of mojitos, too. Something tells me this was a notch above Robitussin.
Hey there! You can have the gloop and I will ask for more kingly cheese ... I could eat parmigiano until I turn into a wheel of it! As for the risotto, it was soft and tender - we don't like al dente too much. And this limoncello was amazing - really tasty!
Well, I definitely didn't think it was my kind of restaurant (no burgers?) but your review has me thinking that maybe one day we might try it
The herb-y bread looked really good and so did your pasta!
Thanks for sharing your great dining experience with usEntertaining as always B!
Hi Cass - thanks for stopping by! There are lot of options on the menu at Il Mulino so I think that would be good for you guys should you decide to dine there some time. We really enjoyed it and were very pleasantly surprised.
Have a hug ... haven't seen you much lately.
