Putting Il Mulino on my list. That sounds fabulous! And welcome to the wonders of Limoncello...I have a bottle in my freezer right now!
It's Denver Restaurant Week here this week and I had a chance to eat at Restaurant Kevin Taylor last night. I paid the $10 upcharge to try the seared Foie Gras. I didn't hate it but angels didn't sing either (they did for the braised lamb shank raviolis with sheep's milk gouda for the next course!). Is foie gras just supposed to be a fatty taste?
Jill in CO
Hi Jill - thanks for reading! The whole meal was great and while we've had limoncello before this was quite tasty - a great way to end the night.
I've always found that seared foie gras doesn't have much in the way of taste but has amazing, buttery, smooth texture. Usually it picks up the flavor of the garnish that it's sometimes seared with - pears or apples in my experience.
I keep tossing around a visit to Il Mulino-like your stinktown steakhouses, Italian and seafood joints are a dime a dozen by us, so we normally skip that stuff. I like the half portion option because my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. Might have to go on our list during F&W. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Alison! I was very happy with the 1/2 portion since it allowed me to eat more of the other yummy stuff! We were both pleasantly surprised by how good it really was and would definitely go back again.
for the foodists who haven't heard yet - as of this year, Il Mulino accepts Tables in Wonderland.
Thanks for the reminder!
Il Mulino is officially going on the wish list. If not for the limoncello alone! But that pasta looked pretty darn good too! And LOVE that you can order half portions! Can't wait to try it. Thanks for another great recommendation!
Thanks for reading - I think you'd like it just fine ... especially with the limoncello shot to finish things off!
Yay indeed!
That looked great. I checked out the menu on Allears too. Prices aren't unreasonable at all. ::makes mental note for the future::
Thanks! I agree about the prices - Tutto Italia in Epcot has ridiculous prices compared with Il Mulino which is really reasonable (for Disney) if you order half portions.
We went to Il Mulino last week and it's now our favorite!!! We had the tuna carpaccio and it was fantastic! Thanks for the great review!

We enjoyed the complimentary Limoncello as well!!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed your experience at Il Mulino, Kat; sorry I wasn't able to get it posted before you left for WDW last weekend. Loved the limoncello shot!
I am so glad you and Jay loved IM as much as Todd and I did back in Oct....you ate there on my b-day night!
It is sooo much better than TI and I think the Swalphin has the best restaurants, excellent food and service (high price

) and never that busy!
Hi Nicki - thanks for reading! Il Mulino was a nice surprise and we'd definitely go back again. We've had nothing but good experiences with the restaurants at both the Swan and the Dolphin ... probably because as Catherine pointed out earlier they're aren't being run by the Disney pencil pushers without tastebuds.
We'll definetly be trying this one. Everything looked fantastic and the parmesan cheese and the carpaccio

Beef carpaccio is one of my absolute favorites. For Ricks 50th b-day I ordered it (not the first time) and shared it with my oldest step son. He didn't know what to do when he put it in his mouth

I'm trying with these kids but all except the youngest are extremely picky!
Hi Deb! We thought the beef carpaccio was amazing ... it kills me that we can't seem to find a restaurant around here that serves it. Your step-son just doesn't know what he's missing! Good on you for trying!!
I've been waiting for you to come back and post this review. (Wonderful as always - but what is the glop? Anyone know?) Since the Swalphin restaurants were added to the TIW, we've been kicking around one of them for arrival night, if we can get in on a Friday three months out. We narrowed down our choices to Blue Zoo or Il Mulino. Decisions, decisions.
I don't know what the glop was but I do know it was a mix of peppers and olives and maybe some eggplant as others have suggested. As for your dining choices I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either Il Mulino or Bluezoo ... just depends on what sounds better to you. Both restaurants are very good.
Looks like I want to fit this in either October or December. Even the gloop. Which looks like eggplant gloop to me. Still looks like tasty gloop. I just like saying gloop, or couldn't you tell?
Gloop-de-doo ... gloopity-goo ... C. Everett Gloop ... the possibilities are endless.

I think you would enjoy dining here Lori - give it a go!
It was very tasty eggplant gloop!
Thanks for clearing that up, Kat!
Another great review Brenda! We might have to try it again - just for the Lemoncello! YUMMMMMM!
I love beef carpaccio and that picture looks amazing - I am also with you on the Augustus Gloop - looks like ...blah
Did you remember a steak on the menu? I have a couple people that might be going at that time and they love the steak at flying fish and this might be a new option with them!
You didn't have to leave.. the room is still here and Kabuki misses Jay!
Thanks for coming by to take a read, my friend! Their limoncello was good but yours was better!!! We should have dinner here in October!
As for steak ... I have no idea. You have friends who like the steak at Flying Fish? Do they order seafood at Yachtsman?
SIDE BAR-Did you know the caramels that you brought us were a single serving size!? The salt ones are now my new favorite candy and they go very well with a 12 year beverage you gave us!
Single serving, huh? They are really good, aren't they? I like the salted ones, too! But neither one of us would have thought to try them with scotch ... hmmmmm, now I'm going to have to buy more caramels!
Chelsi - Johnny had a mushroom filet that he said was one of the best steaks he's ever had, here's a pic:
Sorry to insert my pic on your thread Bendy.
No problem Kat ... it's all in the service of good food even if there are horrible horrible mushrooms on it!
I bet that gloop was eggplant. there is a name for it but it escapes me. I think we were served some in Sicily.
They have TUNA carpaccio!!!! sorry Charlie
Sounds like eggplant is the winner. Jay said he doesn't remember what it was, just that it tasted goode.
The gloop was eggplant, maybe a caponata? It was tasty! The tuna carpaccio was amazing.
Tuna carpaccio sounds pretty good ...
