I love salad, and that looks very tasty, but salad for a demo?!?!?! What, was DY-LON a last minute addition when someone else who was actually going to cook cancelled? Dude, I would so demand my $8 bucks back!

It was a tatsty salad but I'm with you ... salad for a demo? He was always scheduled to lead that demo so maybe he was just lazy. Or distracted ... the Wave's signature dinner was a few nights later so maybe he was thinking about that instead.

I am as surprised as you all were that the chef "prepared" a salad. I could have done that in my kitchen, dumping most of the ingredients out of bags! But the company around your table made it all worth while. :)

The company made it all worth while. And I did like having Midnight Moon to nibble on. :thumbsup2

Oh, I would have been very disappointed to get a salad at a culinary demo:sad2:. I like a good salad, sure, but that's not my idea of a special kind of dish. And I really don't go to WDW to overdose on health food!;) Which leads us to the crappy "healthy" buns. What are they thinking?? Against better judgment (and wooed by the idea of a boozy milkshake) I let the family lead me to Sci Fi for lunch, and I ordered a burger. Big mistake. That was the crappiest bun I've ever had. I can't even tell you if the burger was any good; the bun ruined the whole thing for me. Thank goodness for my boozy milkshake and onion rings!!:thumbsup2

Love the mouse gear! One benefit of cooler weather -- an excuse for some new apparel featuring the Mouse!

Hi Lori! I'm with you 100% on your post. The boozy milkshakes at SciFi are wonderful ... I'd go back there again just to order another one!

No problem ... happens to me all the time!

A salad for a demo? Oh my! While that looks like a very tasty salad, I understand your disappointment with what you were served.

Love the shirt you got. But salad for a demo? Didn't you have to pay to get in there? And that's all they gave you? That's just wrong! :rolleyes1

Denise

That is truly disturbing. SALAD???? :confused3

That salad should have shown up with an entire lobster on it, or, at the least, nice wide strips of tender juicy beef. Good grief!

Sorry to hear about the hotdogs...I actually had thought about trying them...now...not so much.

It works with a dime, too!

Truly pathetic, but you are oh-so funny!!:thumbsup2

I can only imagine how bad this would have been without the friendies!

As much as I love salad I would have been disappointed too. And the thimble size wine, I just shake my head :lmao: even though I really enjoy La Crema too!

I'd totally forgive him for the big piece of Midnight Moon. the salad would have been fine last year, but this year they're actually CHARGING MONEY for these things...hello Disney

I know, the argument will be made that "you're paying for the atmosphere, you're paying for the chef to be there" but we weren't paying last year for the EXACT SAME demos, including the thimbleful of wine.

Will stick by my resolution to book none of these this year, unless I am interested in the chef, because they're not worth doing for the food.

WAH? A SALAD?

I don't know if I am excited about the possibility of food and wine anymore....sigh.

Monday, October 19th - Culinary Demo Featuring The Wave; You Don't Win Friends with Salad!!!

Not that I'm bitter or still upset about that ... "unfortunate incident" as I refer to it in polite society.

I'm truly humbled and honored to be included. Now, quick, email me and tell me what you REALLY meant to say! :lmao:

I don't now what your complaining about - you came out ahead $0.49 and a thimble full of good wine! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Pear and Midnight Moon Cheese Salad - with arugala, frisee, watercress, and aged port vinaigrette $8.49

I really enjoyed this entree at the Wave... Italian Chef Salad - Mixed greens tossed with red wine vinaigrette served with prosciutto, cappicoloa, provolone, salami and shaved parmesan $14.99 I could kid my self I was eating healthy while clogging my arteries and raising my blood pressure!

Thanks for another fun review. (See you were nice to me so I came back, now you'll have to put up with until the end!)

Salad? Really? Midnight Moon notwithstanding, you gotta be freakin' kidding me.

If you had a Charlie Brown rating system, that would be, "I got a rock."

However, you have had the sublime (Kevin Dundon from Raglan Road) to the pathetic and boring (DY-LON the fiyah guy). You've had the highs and the lows. I'd be hard pressed to do these next year unless Kevin Dundon comes back. I had deminar envy for that one!

Yep.

Yeah ... paying for that "demo" was a bit much since he didn't really demonstrate much of anything. Oh well ... sometimes you win and sometimes you don't.

Mmmm, some nice tenderloin strips would have been great with this salad! And yeah ... skip Casey's unless your kids are dying for tube shaped processed meat product.

At least the company was good. We were disappointed as well.:sad2:

The company was the best part!

It works with a dime, too!

Thank you ... we're here all week! ;)

I can only imagine how bad this would have been without the friendies!

We might have walked out if TigerKat and Shovan hadn't been there ... but we did have fun with them so it's all good!

I'd totally forgive him for the big piece of Midnight Moon. the salad would have been fine last year, but this year they're actually CHARGING MONEY for these things...hello Disney

You hit the nail on the head, as usual. Jay and I don't plan on booking many, if any, of these next year. We did think some of the spirit seminars were a good deal and might book some of those this fall if something looks appealing.

WAH? A SALAD?

I don't know if I am excited about the possibility of food and wine anymore....sigh.

Jaime ... there are many fabulous things about F&W ... some of the deminars fall flat, though, that's all. Just focus on the food kiosks around the World Showcase and you will be more than happy!

I'm truly humbled and honored to be included. Now, quick, email me and tell me what you REALLY meant to say! :lmao:

I would have to email you using AOL ... the stream of profanity that comes out of my mouth when I recount this story is so shocking that truck drivers have told me to eat a bar of lifeboy soap. :lmao:

There's still plenty of interesting things besides the seminars - so far.

Very true! Don't give up on F&W yet, Jaime!

That salad sounds pretty good ... I kind of wish I was eating the meat and cheese right now! And post as much as you want ... it's a free forum and I love reading the thing that people say here - lots of funny DISers! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: "I got a rock." That is freaking hi-larry-us! :lmao: You actually made Jay laugh out loud with that one!

It's true ... we had one of the best and one of the most lackluster so it all evens out! And we're not keen on doing many of these this fall either.

IMPORTANT UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>

The hubby and I are leaving for San Diego on Saturday morning and will be out of touch until next week, so this is the last update you fine folks will be seeing for a good week or two. I had really hoped to finish this day of dining up before we left but there was just too much other stuff going on. I will say this: the next review will be for Il Mulino and it was one of the best restaurants we dined at on this trip - amazing service and wonderfully tasty food. And who doesn't like a free shot of limoncello scooped out of a chilled bucket at the end of a fine meal???

So, many thanks to everyone for reading and have a safe, snow-free weekend! I hope to have lots of great CA food porn and vacation stories to share with you once we're back in Stinktown.

We'll miss you

Awww, thanks Chelle! But just think ... there are still four days of reviews from October for me to finish and then there will be all the CA food porn and vacation stories to write and then Vegas for Jay's birthday in May with SPECTACULAR food porn and by the time we've all recovered it will be time for WDW and F&W again!!!
