Pictures of things No Longer Seen at WDW

When looking through this thread, there are number of things that make me nostalgic. But the thing that makes me saddest is seeing the characters walking around and interacting with park guests. I remember the villains walking around and messing with kids and sometimes the heroes intervene. That was an integral part of the disney magic for me.

While I appreciate that it's easier for people to plan now - you know where characters will be and when and can make sure you adjust your day accordingly - there was nothing like being a kid, turning a corner, and your all-time favourite character just being there. Now sure, I'm pretty sure my parents at least twice dragged me or my little brother through the park as fast as they could to try and catch someone we just had to see as they vanished around a corner, and usually the last day of our trip was spent trying to track down as many characters as we could, but there was such a magic about it. Now it just feels like one more attraction you cross off your list - wait in line, stand in front of a themed backdrop, pose, picture, done. I understand, I guess, why the powers that be thought the change was necessary, but for me it will never be as good.

What ever happened to Push?

^^^^^ I still enjoy the TTA/People Mover. It's a good way to get off your feet and wisk around Tomorrowland for a break. Yeah, the newest version is a bit off to me as well.

Funny. It was down yesterday and we road Space Mountain and they had some of the People Mover lights on .... You could see a great deal of the track on Space ... Kind of cool to ride it like that actually.

1988 Christmas Parade. At that time it was a live broadcast on ABC. Family at home taped ot, and we could watch ourselves watching the parade.

Wow, Oliver and Company was one of my favorite movies growing up! I didn't realized its been out since '88!

Wishing I had access to all my vintage photos from Disney!!! I found the original tickets we had with our photos on them, my old park maps from '98, I even found my pal mickey (he's sitting on my tv stand in my room).

Some things I wish they would bring back:

  • Tron Mouse Ears. I got a pair during my CP in 2011 (they light up and look wicked cool).
  • No age limit at the BBB. I enjoyed getting a princess makeover plus as a FGIT it was fun doing the bridal parties that came in.
  • The gorgeous lobby at the Polynesian Pre-Refurb.
  • Paper Fastpasses (awesome to put in my scrapbook)
  • No bag check
  • Mickey Mania Parade (that was the best!!!)
  • High School Musical Street Show.
  • The Sorcerer Mickey hat at MGM Studios
  • The name MGM studios
  • The hand and wand on the epcot golf ball.
  • Wonders of Life.
  • Journey into Imagination and ImageWorks!
  • Superstar Television (I was in the gilligans island one when I was 9, I was skipper).
I probably have more I haven't thought of.

Brings back a lot of memory's my first trip, was 1972 when all that was there was the Magic Kingdom.
