Pictures of Child Meals on Dining Plan?

We've booked our vacation for the end of November and we will be on the dining plan for the first time. Our son will be 8 years and 9 months old. He used to eat like a bird, but lately he's been going through a growth spurt and has been eating a lot more. We are on the QSDP.
I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the different children meals on the QSDP. We plan on going to Peco Bills, Earl of Sandwich, Cookes of Dublin, etc.
Any input, pics would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jill
P.S. I'm thinking that if the sizes are too small, we might cancel the DP and just go OOP.

Child meals on the dining plan are exactly the same as child meals not on the dining plan. Moving this to the main restaurant board because you may find more readers there who can provide photos.

If you don't mind buying your son an adult park ticket (or if you are an AP holder or DVC member who doesn't have to buy tickets) you can register the child as 10 and get the adult dining plan for him - but he has to be registered as 10 years old.

We were kind of in the same boat a couple of years ago with our son, now 12. At QS places I usually got the kids meal if it was a burger because it was plenty for me and I got fries, grapes, and a soda with it. The only kids meals I didn't get were the chicken legs, I liked the rest and they were plenty for me. Some places DS wanted the kids meal and I used an adult credit. allearsnet has menus with kids meals you can peruse to see if this might work for you.

Please note on this thread, any discussion of using children's credits for anything other than children's menu meals at restaurants that have a child's menu will be deleted according to the Restaurant Board's policy.

You can always purchase the adult plan for him, Disney doesn't care if you want to pay more for him. But I would say, do the kid's dining plan. They usually get two sides and my daughter is a big eater and could never finish. She would get chicken nuggets, carrots, grapes and pudding (dessert) and never be able to finish it all. So, even though the portions are small, there are a lot of separate things to it. The adult meals are so large too (I never had room for my dessert!), i would even sometimes just split mine with her or my son. I think you will be fine, it's just my opinion though. You can also always buy an extra side. I'm sure he won't starve on it.

This is what I would do - upgrade him to the adult ticket. Honestly, my DD8 was still hungry after a lot of CS places. I would try to save her some of my meal as well or give her my dessert. There are so more adult options and the price difference in the park ticket isn't all that much. Don't forget, if you upgrade him he will get the "dessert" too. The kids dessert is usually the grapes or a cookie.

Good luck with your decision.

Now that two of our three boys are pre-teen "Disney adults," the dining plan is no longer a good value for our family. They each order and eat different types and amounts of food, and the dining plan does not provide enough flexibility to accomodate that.

As for the size of children's meals, here's a photo of the Hurricane Hanna's kids' meal that represents the typical meal size:

Hope that helps!

Is the Sam Adams part of the kids meal????:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

My oldest son is 9, so he qualifies as a child on the dining plan, but he hates the kids menu. The only thing that he likes on the kids menu is the pizza, and he can't eat pizza twice a day for a week. So this year we had booked under the kids stay and play free and added the QSDP, but when free dining came out I changed our reservation so we could change him to an adult. Plus it saves us a tiny little bit of money. I forget the difference in price between and adult and a child ticket but it wasn't that much, so it will be well worth it. Plus last year we had the dining plan, but several times we had to buy and adult meal because there wasn't anything that he would eat.

The CM on the phone was more than happy to do it, I think that parents request it all the time.

Just want to add that all CS are not created equal. If your child is down as a "child" you must order from the kids menu if one is available. Sometimes this is just an uncrustable, bag of carrots or grapes, cookie and a drink. So, depending on your child that may not be enough.

Good luck with your decision.

Have a look in my dining review - link in my signature.

Lots of pics of kids food.

Options at non disney owned are better - the pizza at coral reef was 1/4 size of the pizza at Tutto italia.

I know WPE menu says kids can order a smaller portion of any adult option - at breakfast my DD was given an adult portion of waffles.

My son is almost 10 and a bit picky, what I plan on doing for him is giving him my credit for curtain meals and I take his and use it places where all credits are the same such as a turkey leg. There should be plenty to share though I am fine paying OOP if need be.

I've got to say this thread is the first time I've ever heard anyone refer to the kid's meals portion size at all - when last we went they were pretty pitiful.

I'd seriously consider upgrading him to an adult - the portions are larger and the food quality is considerably better.

Just my .02 :hippie:
