I prefer Port side staterooms --- is this the difference you are talking about?

There are 2 types of category 3 rooms. Staterooms 8032, 8034(port) and 8532, 8534 (starboard) have different layouts than the others. From what I have heard they are a little bigger and have bigger verandahs. I think that the photos and link on this thread are of the other rooms. If you go to www.disneycruise.com then click on "fun onboard" then "360 views" that shows one of the rooms above.

We were in a 4 and checked out a 3 on the way off the ship on saturday. Wow! My wife said she would have paid double for that room.

Yes....I have a feeling we'd feel the same way. We've been in a Cat 5 twice and a Cat 8 once. I think I want to go concierge Cat 3 as a celebration for when hubby is done with school in 2007. It seems so far away, but I want to check it out now and start planning.

Here is a quick PhotoShow I threw together of a category 3 suite #8602 on the Disney Magic. It is a Handicapped Accessible room.

Great pictures! I have this show bookmarked! :)

Very sorry about the response lag - been working major O.T. for 2005 Trip!

KAMLEM & DMOMof3: This was Stateroom #8086 on the Port side of the Wonder. It was Wonderful, we were upgraded from a Cat 4 to the Cat 3 when checking in at port. Ultra quiet during the night parties very close walk to the Aft stairs and elevators - also a quick walk to the Level 8 Aft viewing deck.

CRSNDSNY: Thanks !

Curosity has me now that I see more and more posters interested in CAT 3 and Above. So, my Question would be, If you reserved or priced CAT 3 rooms - What did/are (trip length and what month) you going to pay for your stay. Couldn't tell you for the last trip because of upgrade, but our 2005 April trip (For now unless we get better price / providing there is a room avaliable)

2 Adults
2 Pre-Teens
8/7 night Cruise (W)
CAT 3
Cruise price only

$8,596.00 (Before Taxes)- Deposit/Reservation made November 2004 direct with DCL and picked my room # (using the Passporter as my guide)

Best price? I dunno, but I do know they spoiled me and my family last time for the 4 day and I knew I wanted the CAT 3 for the 8 day. Don't forget, the Cat 3 has a Double Open Verhanda, it made for a beautiful night after the late deck party, with the whole family watching the full moon reflect off the ocean

Enjoy All !

Thanks for the reply, we will be in 8086 in less than 10 days!
great photos!

can you tell me if the bed in the master bedroom is able to be split in two? I have heard different views. I'm trying to figure out the sleeping arrangements ahead of time. Thanks.

DMOMof3: The Master bed is a one piece mattress laid on a stationary platform. :(

There is the sofabed in the "livingroom" for two. In the Master Bedroom, in between the Master bed and the Verandha doors there is a "single" pull down bed for one that will "fill" the gap between the 2. And then the Mater bed for two. The beds will be "ready" for you every night after you goto dinner.

The only room seperation are the 2 sliding doors than can be closed or left open to "seperate" the Master Bedroom from the "livingroom". Hint: use the wooden chocks that are provided to keep the doors opened/closed - It was funny the night we saw "Pirates of the Carribean" on the ship and when all were ready for bed, one of the kids must have kicked the chocks out and we had the doors slowly sliding open and closed as the ship "rocked" - we all laughed about having ghost pirates in our room playing with us!

Hi!

I just wanted to mention that 8602 and I presume 8102 are unique as far as cat 3 suites are concerned.

First, they only sleep 4. 2 in the bedroom and 2 on the sofa bed. There is no pull down bed in this suite.

The handicapped bathrooms take some getting used to. First, you do not have the vanity area outside of either bathroom. Since they are handicapped accessible, there is no tub in either bathroom, and both showers are roll-ins to accomodate wheelchairs.

When you are taking a shower, there are drains that run the perimeter of the shower and also across the door to the bathroom. What we found was that when showering, you pretty much flooded the entire bathroom area with water. The drains leave a lot to be desired. This was not a big problem except having to finish getting ready while standing on a pretty damp floor. Even if you shower in the morning or before dinner, your bathroom will be all dried out by your stateroom host/ess while you are out.

We had Natalie (our concierge person) contact maintenance about the drains and they came and snaked them out, but said they appeared to be working normally. Even after being snaked, the bathroom flooded.

The biggest plus was the HUGE verandah! We spent a lot of time out their either at our table with 4 chairs or on one of the 3 chaise loungers.

I will definitely travel in a cat 3 again, but would like to try one of the larger midship variations with the normal bathroom layouts, and I will definitely miss that HUGE verandah!

Did you smell any smoke from these room's verandahs? I noticed that the smoking deck is right in between 8102 & 8602.
