From what I have heard the verandahs are pretty big in these rooms, also. They are the length of 3 regular sized verandahs. They aren't nearly as wide as the room you were in, though.

The smoking deck is actually one deck below...not in between the two suites. What is in between is some mechanical equipment. While you can theoretically go out there, most who did turned and left. We were all smokers in 8602 but that verandah is so large (they could add a hot tub out there) smokers from next to you would not have much effect.
