Here are a few of our pool. The water was warm enough for the kids (78F) to swim last weekend, but it's cooled off a bit since then.

The streets are all lined with wildflowers out here. I'm supposed to go shoot a bunch of kids in wildflowers today, but it ended up being too sunny. I'm going to wait until later to see how the light changes.

Wow what a pool. I thought you were joking at first then I saw your house in the background. Your pool is more beautiful then some resort pools. Can I come over and play?:rotfl2:

Here are a few from Virginia Beach where we live. The last one is the high surf kicked up by Tropical Storm Gabrielle.

It is funny how we live about 3 miles from the beach and rarely ever go down there.

Two years and still waiting for the Wisteria to bloom...........

DH and I just took off driving on Labor Day - I brought the camera - wasn't sure what we were going to find - but what we did turned out to be kind of interesting.

We were driving down a farm to market road and went by this old railroad caboose just sitting out in the middle of a field.

Then a bit further down the road we came upon a town called Nevada (long a in the middle) - population 640!. There is a 100+ yr old church they in the middle of fixing up.

Not sure what this is - some sort of doll house? It was sitting outside the church.

A bit further into town - not that it took long in such a small place - we found the fire dept. It is nothing more than an old building and one ancient fire truck.

We left the bustling town of Nevada and bravely traveled down this dirt/gravel road - completely unaware of where it would take us. I am so glad we did. We found a 140 yr old cemetary. I thought it was very sad at how unkept it is.

We headed home after that. But I also wanted to share some photos I took of an old cotton gin that is dead center in my small suburb.

It's A Small World afterall.........I took these only about 15 miles from where you took yours. These were taken during a "drive around" near the town of Lucas which is a much bigger metropolis than Nevada at about 3000 folks.

If I click my heels together 3 times and repeat over and over "there's no place like home" will it work? ;) We lived in Va Beach for 10 years - during my dh Navy flying days! Our house was 4 blocks back on 25th street!! Very sweet - no kids, two incomes, we could walk to the bars, and a chocolate lab that loved to swim!! My how times have changed!! Now we're in south western Ohio, 3 kids, stay-at-home mom, and the Lab has since gone on to doggy heaven (miss my brown baby!) Life is still very sweet and very good - but in such a very different way!!:laundy:

Nice shots! So did you get as many interesting/curious stares as I did? I think a few people were a bit concerned - probably wondering who the crazy lady with the camera was.

Oh yeah, definitely got a couple of the strange looks! That always makes it interesting, though.

We grew up in Virginia Beach and when I was 13 my dad retired from the Navy so they moved us to Ohio, very close to Youngstown. As kids we all hated it and one by one as we got old enough we all moved back to Virginia Beach. I am in my upper 30's now and we like it here, but would like to move to Florida some day.

Oh, I'm so with you! I've told my kids, once you guys are all in college (which will be a while, youngest is only 4!) we're outta here!! Back to someplace with sand, sun, and a mouse would be nice!! I could "retire" to my dream job - a Disney Greeter!! :cool1: The only reason we stay are the good schools and it's an easy commute for dh (he's a pilot) - otherwise, I'd be east coast bound in a heart beat!!!:thumbsup2

they should do what they do in the amish cemetary by me,,,every week or so put a flock of sheep in the fence, voila! no long grass...i'll have to remember to take a photo of that next time i see it...

the texan photos remind me of my youth...when we moved from Lubbock to Ohio I remember all these tiny little towns we went through on the train( yes that was after the stagecoach days but not to long after them:;) ) and now i live in a booming metropolis with a pop of 800, so guess i made a full circle :)

Here are a few from Kingston, NY taken when I was at the Jazz festival this summer:

Ohio is too cold for us. My kids are home schooled so that is not an issue for us. Hope you make it back here someday or even better maybe you will get the job at Disney. We are going back to Disney on vacation December 6-16. I can't wait.

LOL - the boyscouts are "supposed" to be taking care of it - but well - anyone can see how well it is being taken care of.

I wanted to actually go into it - but with the grass and weeds being as high as they are and me in shorts - not to mention being way to much of a girly girl (ya never know what is lurking in grass that high) I stayed on the other side of the fence.
