This photo is really just a closeup of a photo that Kyle (handicap18) posted early on in this thread, but I thought I would throw it in anyways. It was taken today when the sun was out. That was a GREAT 5 minutes!

Since I am a local history buff, you have to listen to the info about it as well. Sorry.

Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge

I've been on that bridge. Years ago (early 80's) when the Cape Cod railway was running, we took the train from Braintree to Hyannis and back again. It was very cool seeing them lower it for us and then they stopped the train so we could watch it go back up again.

That was a great trip. Too bad they didn't make enough money to keep it going.

I love watching that bridge go up and down even after 37 years of seeing it move.

One particular night while fishing the canal at about 11pm, I even got to see a train (trash train I would guess) de-rail one of it's cars on the bridge. It was down for over an hour as it went in reverse to pull the car off the bridge. I can imagine the look of the engineer on that train. Probably something like this

It's a great place to work! If the tide is in then yes a boat (only a small one that seats 12) gets me to work but if the tide is out you can walk across an ancient cobbled causeway to the island. Fabulous when it's sunny!

missed the actual syrup making time ( including the buckets hanging on the trees that pretty much line most streets on my way to the grocery store but i managed never to have my camera then for a month ) and the festival was postponed due to snow but here are a couple sugar house photos from maple syrup industry in my area, err don't think of composition thread while viewing these
