This is a picture of a tornado that went through Iowa Tuesday. It is an amazing picture, but very tragic. We are in a safe location here, but the flooding in Cedar Rapids where 3 of my siblings live is horrible. They are now evacuating a hospital up there.

:worried:

Did you take that pic yourself?

Wow how scary....we had a tornado go through my town 4 years ago. There are not words to describe it. We were very lucky and had minimal damage considering what it could of been, the tornado was weakening before it got to our town or going back up then down. I kind of forget what they decided it did.... But I wont forget what it did. You can still the path it took through the woods and to our neighborhood.

We had just lived in our house about 1 week. A basement with boxes all around isn't safe to be in either! I told DH next time we move I am unpacking the basement first and flashlights!

It made my heart jump just looking at the picture. My prayers go out to the Boy Scouts/Adult Leaders that experienced this horrible tragedy. So sad and scary. :(

No, I didn't take the picture. My brother sent it to me. It happened on the other side of the state from me. We had a tornado that hit in a town a couple miles from here last year. It destroyed much of the town, enough so that they considered doing away with the town and having it be part of ours. It was horrible. Most people didn't have insurance because it hit mostly poorer homes. The tornado also hit our town, and we lost a lot of older homes, but didn't do nearly the damage that it did to the other town.

I saw a thumbnail version of that photo earlier on a webpage, but couldn't find a large one like this.

If the photo has not been doctored (and I have no reason to think it has), it's the most incredible weather photo I've ever seen!

My heart breaks for the parents of those little boys...l

We've been pretty lucky in our neck of the woods (west central Iowa). The tornadoes have thus far missed us. The flooding in Cedar Rapids is devastating. :(

Its a very cool photo I agree. OP do you know who took it? I'm a photo pessimist and it just looks doctored. I could be wrong, but I'm just curious if you know the photographer.

Sorry this looks really fake to me. To be on the safe side I have sent it to Snopes online to have them verify if it is doctored. I do not think the OP meant to post something that may or may not be real, I just like to have the right information. It is tragic about the tornado season this year. I am in Oklahoma and spend a lot of time dealing with yucky scary weather!

I have to agree, just lots of odd things in the photo. The flag and trees and what looks like part of the funnel cloud missing.

I'm not trying to post a picture that is not true. My brother sent it to me. It was sent from an underwriter in Omaha to him. If it's fake, I'll take it down. Along with that picture I was sent pictures of the Boy Scout camp that was destroyed. I did search at snopes and did not find that picture listed. I guess when there's so much tradegy I don't think people are senidng "bad" pictures. The reality is bad enough. It doesn't need to be faked.
