Jacaranda- ya, that's what I meant- we just call them purple tree flowers...

mytripsandraces: Thank you for the link.. They are beautiful. Those of us (from the frozen north - where spring just came this week) soooo much appreciate seeing trees in bloom! The flowers almost look like Virginia Bluebells - a spring woodland flower we can grow here in lower Michigan.

You're welcome! I fell in love with them on a trip to LA (I live in the semi-frozen north) and tracked down the name. I like running through the fallen petals, too.
