Locomotive No.1 - C. K. Holiday, one of two engines built by the Walt Disney Studios went into service on opening day. Their boiler plates wear the letters WED denoting that these engines really are “Walt’s toys”.
Here the C.K. Holiday, just recently back from a long absence being cleaned and restored waits at the New Orleans Square Station. Is it possible for a machine made of steel, powered by steam, controlled not by electronics and wires but by levers and valves to have a sense of awareness? Does it know that it is a true star of Disneyland, as much as Mickwy or the Castle? Does it wonder if its owner would still be proud?
