What a difference 24 hours makes...a spring storm from Texas. We were attending the final volleyball competition of the season for DGD Thursday afternoon. I received a text from my cousin and went out to check the weather to have this greet me...and a few other concerned adults:

I re-entered the gym with the Head Athletic Director who immediately "called" the remaining of the tournament and asked everyone to leave as rapidly as possible and wished us all a safe trip home. We exited the gym to this scene:

Needless to say, we were in for a long evening with heavy rain. Our neighboring town to the north of Brenham (for those of you from the south...the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream) was already in the midst of tornado's, golf ball size hail, power outages (my cousin finally had her power restored at 11:30 AM today after 66 hours), torrential rain and 3 deaths. We were fortunate, only receiving around 7"s of rain (but this was on top of another severe storm 3 weeks ago when we received between 10-14" of rain) but Brenham received 20 inches in a 24 hour period. We are now experiencing terrible flooding from the runoff. The Brazos River is 6 feet higher than it has EVER been, flooding the entire southern part of our county. Many families have lost everything; some are having to evacuate for the first time in their lives. But...24 hours later...sunshine :

Sadly, we're looking at another storm predicted to move through toward the end of next week.

For others; we're on "high ground" and fine other than DH being swamped at work (he manages a road repair/maintenance crew) but those who lost everything are in dire need. THANK YOU for your kind thoughts.
