Aurora KP reading was at about 4.0 on the night I took this. Melbourne is in the KP = 9 zone before they can visually see the Aurora in the sky...but all season we've been able to capture the southern lights by camera sensor. I have had my head buried in the sand....and haven't been out during the height of the season (July and August had KP readings in the 7's!!!) to get a better shot. Next year!

Taken at 11.30 pm, using Expose to the Right technique (ISO 6400, f/2.8, 30 secs) and Lightroom post-processing. I wasn't convinced that this is a true Aurora Australis picture but a fellow FB photog posted her picture on the same night taken about 150 km north of me (in the country with much less light pollution) and her colours are the same!
