We have got a AKV Value 2-bedroom reserved for next August. I am OK with Savannah or Pool view but worried about the parking lot view. Does anyone have a picture of (or can tell me about) that view to put my mind at rest that it isn't that bad considering the points savings?

Thank you all for the input!

We had a a value room & the view was a parking lot. Yes, it sucked & no & did not take pictures to remember it. I will remember it when making reservations in the future though. To avoid the view & the tight room. You couldn't even open the door all the way in the bedroom (it hit the bed)
Hopefully you will have better luck with your view :thumbsup2

Thanks TiffanyW1 for the information. Boy - that changes my outlook of these rooms.

One last question: Knowing what you know now would you risk it and reserve a Value room again?

I would also like to know if you would get a value room again. We are booked in a value room for our trip, and wonder if perhaps we should change to a different view.

Well I hope you would be ok with a Pool or Savannah view? You get what you pay for. If you want to save points then you risk getting a parking lot view. I personally wouldn't go to AKV and not have a Savannah view.

DW and I were in a 1 br value for 11 nights in July. We had a pool view, but not a great one. We loved the room and would definitely book value again. The door in the bedroom comes close to the bed, but it doesn't hit it.

No, I would not do a value room again. The combination of view & lack of space did it in for me :sad2:

In our room, you could open the bedroom door if the bed was made & you pushed really hard. If the covers were down, you could not open the door even half way :(
They also put one of those twin sleepers in the room & it was just too much furniture for such a small area.

5 years ago or so, I paid for a discounted cash room at AKL, and it was at the end of a hall, the closest to the bus stop. It had a terrible view. It's not one of the DVC rooms, but it's view/location is probably as "bad" as it could get in Jambo. I WOULD and HAVE risked booking value rooms knowing this is what we could get. So far as our value room reservations go, we've gotten a pool view 1 bedroom and a sunset savannah room studio and I have another value room reservation coming up in May. However, I have only booked value rooms for some weekends, not long vacations. I absolutely would do it for a long vacation if it meant going or not going. There are plenty of animal viewing spaces and activities that I enjoy in Jambo. The pool view value was a wonderful location. It was just up from the workout room, and it was easy to get to the Mara and pool area. The value rooms are small, but very worth it for me. We had 3 adults in the value 1 bedroom and 2 adults in the studio.

Thanks Ed for the trip report and pictures. I see someone who replied to your thread had a parking lot view and it did not deter them.

Having both your view and Tiffany's is very helpful.

I think we will chance it and go with the value. There are so many places there to sit and watch animals and the points we save having a value room can't be beat. Thanks again.

Thank you Bobbi. This post addressed all my reservations with the value room.

The reason we are trying to save on points is we are taking my Brother and Sister-In Law with us as a treat. This is our first time with a 2 bedroom and it uses up all of our 2009 points. We could move and borrow points, but trying not too if we can help it. There will be 5 of us in the 2 bedroom (4 adults and 1 teenager) and it sound like there will be enough room for us all.

We were there this past may and had to switch rooms 3 times bc there wasn't the same category room available for our entire length of stay. We knew this going into the trip and were ok with it bc we wanted to stay at akv the whole time. Anyway, the first was a wonderful savannah view room, we then had to switch to a value room, which to our suprise ended up being a savannah view also. The last room was a savannah room again, only this time it was a view of the construction and dirt road. We were very upset to use more points than the value room and have a worse view. I went to the front desk and said such, and our room was changed to another wonderful savannah view room. My point is, we were very fortunate with the value rooms view, and honestly would have stayed there the entire time if it was available bc it was a good savannah view. Good luck and hope your trip is magical!

There will definitely be enough room. Have a great time!

I have a value studio booked for 2 days next May, I have a Concierge room the next 3 days. I could not get Concierge for the whole stay. I figue it was worth the point savings. I think it is great that we have this option for a point savings and are not being charged full point price for this room. Remember we get what we pay for. I can endure anything for a few days. I use to stay at Value Resorts!;) Those beds bring back bad memories!:rotfl2:

Edited to say: for those of you that love Value Resorts, sorry, I don't! I really need a better mattress.
