Have not seen this topic talked about lately, and could use some help planning for a 4-day after the Wonder drydock. Does anyone have pictures of their pillow covers or picture mats after they have been signed?

Who signs them?

What size do you suggest for the mat? I heard a suggestion to mark what side if the mat will be hung verticle or horizontal. Is this right?

"Ducky" Williams will be on our cruise, and from what I understand he does impromptu drawings for some cruisers. I would love to have a mat signed and possibly have one of his sketches in it. That may be asking alot, but a little planning now and some pixy dust, and it may work out.

Thanks in advance!

When we went to drop off our mat at Guest Services, they had a sheet that asked Princess or the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto). I asked if we could have them all and any extras they might have. They said sure and wrote something on the paper. We ended up with all of them, plus Chip, Dale, Lilo, Stitch, and Wendy. I gave them a red and black Sharpie which turned out GREAT in black frame.

We have never asked for the pillowcases but I loved the way the mat came out and Minnie and Mickey's name was smack in the middle with "Love and Kisses" signed as well.

We also gave them a couple bags of candy to munch on while they were signing! :lovestruc and put a sticky on it that said "This way up please". It was an 11 x 17 mat (8 x 10 picture).

I will try my best to post a picture tomorrow!!

Ducky Williaims sketches were given out by a raffle type drawing--when you attended one of his talks, you were given a free ticket. He drew as he talked. At the end, the CM called out numbers and if you had the number, you got the next drawing on his pad. He did several talks and did 20+ sketches at each one.

For other items...take your item to GS on the first day. If you want anything other than a black sharpie (like special fabric markers), put them in the package. You might want to enclose a bag of mini candy bars or other treat for the characters along with a thank you note. GS will have you complete a form indicating who you'd like to sign it--princesses, fab 5, everyone available, etc. It will be returned to your cabin by the last night.

Thanks for the info. Kinda what I expected, but I would still love to see some pictures.

What type of bag did you put your mat, candy, and markers in? I have an
11x14 mat and it won't fit in a gallon ziploc bag.

We used the larger Ziplocs for ours that they sell now. These come with only a few in the box and have handles. It was the perfect size to hold an 11x14 mat and the markers/treats.

The mat actually came in a sealed bag when I bought it. The top of it was secured with a removeable tape. It worked well, but like the PP the really large ziplocks they have now should work too.

Here is the pic of the mat...obviously I wasn't looking at it when I put the character names down the first time, but this is what I got when I asked for as many as they could do and I was THRILLED with how it turned out!

LOVE IT!!!!!

I am new to DCL, so this is the first I saw that idea!!!!

Is this a normal thing DCL does? You just bring your own mat onboard and asked for it to be signed behind the scenes? I always thought people who took pillowcases had them signed when they were meeting the characters.:confused3

This will be perfect for us! DH and I are travelling without the kids, and the day we return home is DD's 7th birthday- can you imagine a better present than a pillowcase and frame signed by the princesses?? :cloud9:

Of course, little sister will have to get one, too!;)

Pillow cases and mats get taken to Guest Services on the first or second night...then on the last day of your cruise they magically appear pixiedust: in your room!! It is great and the BEST and cheapest (FREE!) souveneir that we took home. They do not advertise that they do this but just take your item in a ziplock with pens and a sweet snack and they are usually more than happy to take it! We always wait until they aren't busy at GS so not to "bother" anyone!

check your local craft store such as hobby lobby or Micheals and if you can print the 40% off coupon you may be able to score the mat at $1.00 or less. also depending on the week they may also be 50% off already.

You can slso get the fabric pens for really cheap from the craft stores as well. you can also use your 40% off coupon for the pens as well

Thanks for sharing a picture!! I just picked up an 11x14 mat at Walmart today! My DD will LOVE this!

The one I got was an 11x17 but the picture was a 5x7...I wasn't sure about it at first but since it was so big the autographs were wonderful and didn't seem to take away from the picture either (although I do plan on replacing it with a picture without alcohol in it! :lmao:)

I plan on doing another one on our cruise in January, I may do two smaller ones this time for single pictures for my kids!

Tampabrat22,
Love Love the mat. I forgot mine last time. I'm going to steal the idea of only using red/black sharpies.

Here's a pic of one of our pillowcases from 11/2/09
