Picture I.D. at park entrance?

I was wondering if it is necessary to carry picture I.D. to the parks? Do they ever ask to see your I.D. at the park entrance?

Where we are from, driver's licenses don't have a picture on them, so in our case we would have to bring our passports along every day. I really don't want to have to carry them with us everywhere, so I just wondered if we could get away with not carrying I.D. to the parks?!

Also, our DD will be exactly 2 1/2 years old, but she looks more like 3. Would carrying a copy of her Birth certificate (with no picture) be good enough, just in case they ask?

TIA

They have never asked us for any kind of I.D., nor have I ever seen that happen. They will take your word on your daughters age.

I've been asked for ID not at the park entrance, but when I'm signing a traveler's check or using a credit card. Just to be safe bring the ID anyway. What they need to verify is if the name on the ticket matched the name on the ID. That's all.

I HAVE been asked for photo ID at resort check in.

Don't know if that's a policy that's variably enforced by the CMs, but it's happened each time I've checked in at a Disney resort.

One thing I could think of is if you are staying onsite and your park tickets are on your room card. If for some reason your card doesn't work, they would ask for ID to make sure that it is your card before letting you in (I think Guest Relations can check to see about your days and let you in the park w/o having to go back to the hotel at that time). If you don't have it, you would have to go back to the hotel, get your ID and have it fixed there.

I've had to show ID a few times over the years when my AP's did not scan.

Something was wrong with my pass the first night and I had to show my ID at two parks. I was glad I had it.

Me too. Also, fastpass doesn't always work if your access is denied into the park and they let you in anyway. I had to go to Guest Relations at 2 parks, so they could say I was "in" the park and the fast pass would work with my ticket.

I have been asked for it on a couple of occassiona. We always pack ours

Please also make sure you bring it to the waterparks with you! I've seen people turned away becuase there was a problem with their ticket (or scanning their fingers), and they didn't have an id with them.

You should DEFINITELY carry an ID with you everywhere you go.

BUT - I don't know that this answers your question about a PICTURE id. I would think your driver's license would be fine, even if it doesn't have a picture on it. But no one may know for sure.

What state or country are you from (I'm curious to know where they don't put pictures on driver's licenses)?

NJ just started requiring them at renewal. Before you could just mail in a check and get one without a picture.

UK old style driving licence that is still valid here has no picture on it, just a bit of paper, but to get in the US you need a passport and that has a photo, mind you I don’t fancy carrying that around the parks to be honest.

Jill - we live in the Bahamas. Interestingly enough one of the posters mentioned UK not having a picture on the old licenses that are still valid. I wonder since the Bahamas used to belong to the UK, this would be why we don't have pictures on ours yet either. It's just a piece of paper with all of the person's info on it.

If you order some drinks at like Rose and Crown, they might ask for your ID if you look young enough. :cool1:

Personally, I've never been when I was the "head of the party" or whatever one might call it (basically the one whose name the reservations are under, etc.) so I wouldn't really know about that end of things, but in generally, the only time they ever asked to see an ID was when I bought a pack of cigarettes in the Contemporary. (Ironically enough, I only had my Massachusetts learner's permit at the time which is a valid photo ID, but printed on paper instead of a plastic card, and they didn't know what it was so they didn't accept it.)
