Pics of Tonga toast??

I've had TT several times and while it's delicious, it's also very rich. I'd recommend splitting an order of TT and another order of something like eggs & bacon to share. :earsboy:

I am very surprised at the comments that it's very rich, since ours was a big hunk of bread with a tiny bit of gooey banana in the very middle, heavily sugared on the outside. It was very dry, and for someone who doesn't like syrup, it was blah. (Except for the banana middle, but it really was such a small amount that it couldn't possibly cover the huge amount of bread.)

I tried it due to the rave reviews and it was great! ( and I don't even really care for bananas!)

OMG.. so good. All the food there is really good, but love the breakfast and Tonga Toast.

Enjoy!!

Tiny? You are too kind, Tricia! I have not been tiny in a long time. I am positive you are tinier than I am. I have to have my protein in the morning or I crash hard, no matter what I eat. So, we found that splitting our three meals worked out best. We had a taste of everything, and enough protein to counter all the sugar on the tonga toast!

I think that the protein is an excellent suggestion and would be for everyone trying Tonga Toast. As much as I love sugar - that's a WHOLE LOTTA sugar!! Who knows, maybe I wouldn't have such a bad taste in my mouth if I had more protein. Those two strips of bacon certainly didn't counter the sugar for me.

Re me being tinier than you - you forget - NOBODY is tinier than me right now. I'm toting around a beach ball under my shirt! :rotfl:

Well coming from a place where beignets are a staple at breakfast...I am looking forward to my first bite of Tonga Toast this Sunday morning!

I think we'll just get one order and let everyone take a couple of bites, though. It does look sweet.

LOL...well, that's weight for a good cause! My excuse? I'm saving up for when they invent fat donations so I can help out a skinny person! :rotfl:

DH and I love this but we share it...too sweet to eat it all.

Being a long-time Tonga Toast lover, I'll let you all in on a little secret. Tonga toast can be ruined by someone who doesn't know how to make it well. If it comes to your table with loads of sugar sprinked on it, brush it off! Add butter to the hot toast and allow it to melt (just like you would with pancakes) in with the remaining sugar. Taste it. You probably will not need any syrup. But a little syrup is good--just don't slosh it all over the toast. To savor the true effect of this delightful delicacy, you must eat it along with bacon, or sausage, and/or eggs. Don't try to stuff yourself with it, use it as a companion to your other items. Order a steaming pot of coffee, savor your toast, and let the day begin....;)

For those of you who have had it at Kona and CC do they taste the same at both places? I had it at CC in July and thought it was good.

Tricia, what's wrong with you - not liking Tonga Toast?! Sheesh! ;) DH, DD and I split it with an omlete and the fruit platter. I couldn't make my only breakfast item unless I was planning on sleeping the day away on the TTA!

Here's a picture of the Tonga Toast!

Hey, that's my picture of Tonga Toast. I recognize it because of Rufus and the decaf coffee.

Kona and Captain Cook's are exactly the same, but the one at CC's is about $4 cheaper.......I love good breakfast sausage too , but I do not think the better sausage at Kona is worthy of the extra money. Oh, and at CC's you do not have to tip either so it is a good place to go if you are watching your food budget.

Sorry for the picture snag! Mine is somewhere, and I can't find it! I just had to tempt those that had never tried it before with a beautiful picture!!

That was the before, here's the after--
