Now, I left you last on a Saturday night. Sher and I had tucked ourselves in nice and early. We had big plans to tour the Animal Kingdom. I foolishly had hoped to be there for opening. Boy, I was wrong. Girls take so long to get ready in the morning.
We skipped breakfast due to time and promised ourselves a bite to eat at the park. We jumped on a bus (BIG LINES this Sunday morning) and had to settle for standing room only.
The bus stopped once at Blizzard Beach
before pulling into the (what felt like a Medium Security Prison) bus parking area for Animal Kingdom. Resort to Park was about 21 minutes or so. Not too bad considering the dropping off at Blizzard Beach.
Our first order of business was a Latte and some fruit, which we snagged just inside the gates at a cart. We bolted for Expedition Everest and found a short wait. We grabbed Fastpasses, before jumping in the standby line. Return time on the Fastpasses was a little over an hour away so we were STOKED!
The themeing here is unreal. The props, buildings and effects are so authentic.
The wait was less than 20 minutes and the nerves started to act up. I WANTED TO RUN!!!!
But of course I didnt. It is a ride after all. One great rollercoaster. We danced off of this mother. BEEMING!
Another shot of the beautiful queue at EE.
After EE we ran over to Dinosaur and found a 5 minute wait. (Oh ya, we passed the Nemo theater and noticed that the queue area was at least 14 miles long! We wondered aloud at the sheer scope of the stroller parking area! IT was a good 40 acres.)
Dinosaur was not one of Shers favourites. I have ridden it 3 or 4 times and can take it or leave it. I get a bit anxious on it, all the yelling, screaming, bouncing and what have you. Seems to be a case of WAY TOO MUCH HAPPENING !!! CANT PROCESS!!
After the buzzing in our ears died down we decided to head for Africa and the Safari! Shers most favourite attraction from the previous year. We were a bit bummed to see a long standby, so we grabbed a couple FPs and headed to Tusker House for some breakfast. Sher got us some Danish and a beautiful cinnamon roll.
Can you dig it? I sure could.
After we ate it was a short wait for our fastpass at Kilimanjaro. We jumped in the FP line and before we knew it we were in our truck and heading out to see some wildlife!
Sorry, only took one pic. We found trying to take pictures on the ride actually detracted from the experience. Once we put the camera down it was much more exhilarating.
Gazelle?
The ride ended with the same stupid poachers getting caught (AGAIN!) and the rescue of the baby elephant. YAY.
After KS we were in the mood for more animals! So we jumped on the Pangani Forest trek. We saw a lot of great animals.
HIPPOS!
Hippos without skin!
Gorillas! These were Shers favourite. We must have taken at least 60 pictures of these guys.
Meer Cats? Supposedly they have been here for four years and are constantly on the watch for danger. Although nothing dangerous has ever come near. Talk about PARANOID!
We also got some great action from the monkeys near the entrance.
All in all, we had an incredible time. We both felt that Pangani was worth the price of admission alone. (Well, that and EE)
To be continued!!!!
