Pics from Iceland

Wow, gorgeous pics!!! It looks positively beautiful there!

The one that could mostly be considered "native" is not exactly appealing and something NO Icelandic people today eat (well apart from 1 day a year as a tradition). It consists of rotten shark, sour sheep testicles (and no, I´m not kidding), sour whale fat, roasted sheep head...o.k. I´m sure you get the picture. Let´s stop now! :rotfl2:

:woohoo: Dinner tonight at Freyja's!!:yay:

Unfortunately I must decline -- something suddenly came up!!;)

Ummm... gee, thanks, Freyja! (I think!:scared: )

But I got my yearly fill of sheep's testicles LAST WEEK - so I'm good to go for another year!:thumbsup2 But I'll definitely pencil you in on my calendar for next year!!:goodvibes

Those are beautiful photos. You should be proud of both your husband and your country for showing off so well! :thumbsup2

Our modern cuisine is wonderful and consists mainly of seafood and lamb. I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2
I love seafood and DH loves seafood and lamb.:thumbsup2

Note to self -
When I visit Iceland
1) stop by to see Freyja
2) never ask for "native" Icelandic food in any restaurant

WOW!

Frejya do you do any cycling?
I have been looking at cycling vacations to Iceland.

Beautiful pics! I don't remember much of it, I was there in 1984, when I was 10! So that was a long time ago! But I do remember that it was very pretty and clean. Plus all the hot springs pools, or something like that.

You should come. I´ll be happy to show you around. I´m not sure you would have any luck in even finding a restaurant that has "native" Icelandic food.

No, I don´t. Just so you know, Iceland has very tough terrain and the weather is totally unpredictable. I´m sure you know that already. If you´re experienced and into mountain biking it´s a great country to see on a bike.

Beautiful, gorgeous, stunning!!
I recently saw a show on the Travel Channel that included Iceland. I would love to visit.

Come on over. It´s just across the pond ;)

Beautiful! :)

I especially love the first photo with the sun coming through the clouds. :thumbsup2

Incredible! You make a great ambassador for your country. :)

Speaking of weather, could you tell us what it is like by season?

Winters are long and unpredictable. You might get loads of snow, you might get none. You almost always get the northern lights at one time or another.

Spring is almost non-existent. Well, or you could say that spring starts in May and goes until September and summer is non-existent.
:rotfl2:

Autumn lasts from Mid-September til November, usually windy and wet.

I suggest www.wunderground.com for temps, since I´m not the best converter (Celsius into Fahrenheit).
