Hi! Fellow Disney obsessed board member here! So obsessed in fact that I have to schedule "breaks" from Disney so my poor children can experience non-Disney vacations. (Yes there is a world outside of Disney...this year it was a fabulous week in the Keys). However, my husband sees fit to indulge me...or spoil me annually. Every year for my birthday, we go to disney for an adults only weekend during the food and wine festival. We've done it several years now.

So I haven't been on here in a while and I'm looking back at threads I've begun and I never did a pictorial review of our trip last year. And here I am all excited about this year, scouring for info and I thought maybe better late than never?

There won't be a ton of reviewing because I doubt I can remember everything from nearly a year ago.

Here goes:

My husband and I

IMG_1229.jpg

Brazil Grilled Pork Skewer with Farofa and a Leblon Frozen Caipirinha
*not sure about the farofa. It was very dry, like taking a bite out of something dipped in sand.

IMG_1230.jpg

Puerto Rico Medianoche Sandwich and Bacardi Frozen Limon Mojito
*I remember this sandwich being very good.

Poland Golabki (Pork Stuffed Cabbage)

German Beer stand....of course!

China Black Pepper Shrimp with Sechuan Noodles, Pork Pot Stickers, Xinjiang Barbecue Chicken Stick, and Happy Lychee

Our secret spot! I hope its there this year. One of the few tables we found in the shade, tucked away behind the China booth. Nice breeze and beautiful views of the lake. We literally grabbed someone out of line when we got ready to leave....didn't want it going to waste!

IMG_1237.jpg

South Africa Flavors of Africa (Salad, Bread and Spreads)
*I don't remember liking anything on this plate. Very disappointed.

I honestly don't remember what this was but I don't think it was F&WF exclusive.

My kids will be 15 and 12 this fall and both DH and I think they could be on their own for the most part but he still insists no kids. He knows that they will "take over." I don't mind but I spend the whole year being about everyone else so this is the one time I get to do whatever I want. I have mixed emotions though...I know they really want to go!

Belgium Steamed Mussels with Roasted Garlic Cream, Freshly Baked Waffles with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream
*the waffles were SO good!

IMG_1254.jpg

Ireland Lobster and Scallop Fisherman's Pie and Kerrygold Cheese Selection
*the lobster pie was DH's absolute favorite item in 2009...he had a whole piece of claw meat folded over in the bottom, but this time he said it was not so good and had very little lobster in it

IMG_1259.jpg

Canada Chicken Chipotle Sausage with Sweet COrn Polenta, Nanaimo Bar and Moosehead Beer
*I love the chicken sausage and I get it every time. So far quality is unchanged!

It was very tasty but ice cold when it should have been warm.

This is the first and likely last deminar we will ever go to. I give it high marks for value. At $6 pp, we were given a food and drink sample, and LOADS of information, along with a copy of the recipe. However, we only set aside 2 days for F&WF each year so we felt like ALOT of time was wasted sitting down for this event. Also, as some of the tables were partially empty, I saw some guests get multiple champagne samples whereas they didn't even bother to fill my one sample sized flute all the way to the top.

More beer in Germany :)

IMG_1284.jpg

Sugar Ray!! Plenty of open seating...behind a tree. Of course thats what we get for showing up 15 minutes after it starts.

IMG_1287.jpg

Hops and Barley Whats left of a Boston-style Crab Cake with Cabbage Slaw and Remoulade. He ate half of it on his way back to our seats.

Pecan Bread Pudding and Octoberfest

Dinner at Kimonos

IMG_1301.jpg

Dragon Roll, Lobster Salad Roll, and some veggie rolls. Sushi was AMAZING here. And the crazy business folks there for a convention singing karaoke the whole time was just an added bonus.

All About Sake Tasting

IMG_1336.jpg

IMG_1337.jpg

A hospitality custom is to place to glass in a box and pour the sake until it overflows.

IMG_1335.jpg

Foods paired with sake: calamari and pineapple shrimp cake

Yum! I'm reliving last year's F&WF through these great photos! Thanks for posting (cute couple, too!)

The red raspberry meringue cookie...my favorite, I ate quite a few.

Overall, for a first time event, it was quite fun and an extremely good value! We paid $169 per night and that included our hotel stay at the dolphin, entry to the event, and a drink seminar. This year the cost is $255 per night and only includes entry to the event so we will be staying elsewhere and paying for our ticket separately. You could tell they weren't prepared for the number of people there because many of the booths were making food on demand within 30 minutes of the gates opening. However, the lines moved quickly and the crowd thinned out considerably after the first hour. There wasn't a huge variety either, but most of the items were so good we didn't mind going back for 4ths and 5ths, ect. The guy making the shrimp cocktails automatically threw together 3-4 every time he saw my husband heading his way! I figure the event will attract even more people this year yet I don't see many more food booths than last year so that does have me concerned. We shall see!

Which reminds me...would anyone like to post favorite pics from last years event!?? What is your must eat/drink item? What are you glad made it onto this years menu???
