Pickle part III

OMG, I saw that costume!!! I have to believe it is just one of her many costumes....but whatever it is for, it's godawful!!! Holy Moley!!!

Poor Cassie... she has a great attitude about it though and that is wonderful. I hope the ER takes care of her asap so it can heal properly - we know how important it is at her age especially. Give her a pickle hug, please? :grouphug:

No more apologies for books!!! I love to read!!! :surfweb:

Happy Easter from our home to yours! :D

Well, darn..I didn't receive notice of a post! Love the photo, Tracy!

Happy Easter, dear Pickles and Pickle families! :goodvibes

Notifications are whacked. Hey. Easter is over, eh! But thanks! We took three pictures for our BFFs in New York. This was our "kissies" one. :teeth: Nothing like making you miss someone even more. Sniff.

Happy Belated Easter, Pickles!!! Hope you all had a great day. Ours was very relaxed. We were supposed to have everyone at our house, but Martina got strep throat, so we had to cancel. She is feeling much better now. We spent most of the weekend in our PJ's watching Disney movies.

Aw, I'm sorry Easter is over for you, Tracy. Easter began with Easter Sunday for Catholics, so we continue to celebrate. In most many churches it is liturgically Easter for at least a week (longer for us) but I know lots of folks consider it over after Sunday. ::yes::

Heather, glad Martina is feeling better. Are they on Spring Break this week? Kids here have springs break for Easter week so it changes every year. I miss Boston where we had several Monday federal holidays, some Holy Days (Catholic school), Thanksgiving, Christmas, 3rd week of Feb and 3rd week of April and summer for vacations every year. It is nice for the kids to get little breaks throughout the year. Some feel it is not good academically, but we have plenty of scholars who come from MA! ;) Really, I think it is whatever kids are used to - they can thrive either way. :)

Janet, hope you had a nice day with Sam and Howard. :grouphug:

We don't get a "spring break". This year, they had off Thurs-Mon, but some years they only get Thurs & Fri or Fri & Mon. The only time we have a full week off now is the week between Christmas & New Years. :( Makes it hard to plan a trip other than in the summer. (and we all need a break!!!)

I am glad to hear the weekend was still a good one, despite having to cancel dinner, Heather. Sorry Martina was sick, but Disney anything makes everything all better.

No need to be sorry, Christine, and I certainly meant no offense to anyone. I am glad to hear you are enjoying a celebratory week! Hope you are having nice weather. We are experiencing a mixed bag of it, but that is normal for us. ;)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. :grouphug:

Tracy, you certainly did not say anything that could offend someone here! I only meant that it is nice when the celebratory feeling of a holiday continues beyond the one day. :thumbsup2

Poured here all day yesterday ...high of 59 by late this afternoon, but next weeks looks to be 70's! :dance3: No typical Spring here this year - cold and raw instead. Hopefully, we'll have 3 or 4 weeks of 70's before it will be 90+ and humid every day until November. :sunny: Much better than raw and cold!

Hope it is a wonderful Pickle weekend!

Hi Pickles! TGIF Peeps!

In other news, Cassidie's ankle is really bothering her even with the boot cast and she said that she feels a poking feeling in her foot. My guess is there was a break between the growth plates and it never healed. We'll be taking her to Emerg to get it xrayed and most likely a plaster cast this time around. She is bummed about not playing, but says she will just try out again next year. :( My poor baby. She deserves so much more that this. My heart just breaks for her. Anyways, starting another novel and I keep telling myself that I won't do that anymore, but my brain goes faster than my typing and bam! There's the novel. Sorry!

Trace - what was the result of the ER visit? So disappointing for Cassidie! She has a good atttitude with looking to next year. :goodvibes Is there something else to get involved in this year? Some after school activity she can join in?

As I said to you Heather, snuggling in PJs and watching a Disney marathon of movies is a great second choice! :thumbsup2 Happy that Martina feels better!

We were able to enjoy a nice Easter holiday/dinner with our good friends. :goodvibes

Enjoy the nice weather! I know we are supposed to be getting warmer temps... and just in time, Sam will perform with the 9th grade band at the Phillies game on Tuesday!! :cool1:

Us too..one does get accustomed to it, and make do.:goodvibes Plus the kids get out a bit earlier in June so that's good (as the school doesn't have AC in many areas of the bldg. :( )

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope everyone does have a great weekend!! We are cleaning and moving stuff out of our bedroom as carpet is being installed on Monday. We got a great deal on a remnant so we want to clear it/remove carpeting to save extra $$. Can't wait to see it! I vow not to return to the cluttered mess the room was in. I couldn't even dust or vaccum properly as there was too much stuff around.

We will fit in some YMCA time and try to do the taxes...:( as we are running out of time.

It is still in the 50's here, but at least it is sunny now!!! (but was supposed to rain this afternoon) I wish it would hurry up and warm up. I am afraid we will have one of those years where it goes from 50 to 90 with no true Spring weather.

TGIF!!!

Poor Martina now has a tummy bug. I thought maybe it was just a reaction to the antibiotic, but I called the Dr, and thye think since she just started vomiting today, it is a stomach virus on top of the strep. So the poor thing still has to take the same antibiotic that makes her stomach upset. PSSA's (state testing) starts Monday, so I sure hope she is feeling better by then.

Janet, good luck with the carpet...I'm sure it will feel great to have it done!

We still don't get out till June 17, even with no real breaks! And the poor teachers don't get out till the end of June (although they voted for this contract, so...)
Have a good weekend, my Pickle Friends!!!

ETA: What time is the Phillies game on Tues???I want to try to set the DVR to see Sam!

You got rain and we got flurries. :headache: We won't even hit the 50s this week. Such.a.joke. I can't stand it! Canada. The only place on the planet with three seasons, one being only a few weeks long - winter/summer/winter. :lmao:

Janet her ankle was not broken but they saw that the growth plate had spread (meaning she is grew in height) and they could tell that it was fractured the first time. She should have had a plaster cast. Those air boot casts are useless, imo. The doc said she needs physiotherapy so I took her a few days later when I could get an appointment, and of course, her foot was not bothering her at that time! The therapist could tell there was a bit of swelling and a tiny pocket of air where she said she feels pain. She has exercises to do and I have to give her special calf and ankle massages every night. (why couldn't I be so lucky?!) Her third session is tomorrow night. She hasn't walked much being house bound all weekend or played badminton, so chances are it won't be bothering her and this will be the last session. :headache:

She is still on the team and was told she always will be and she can play when she is able to. :) I was shocked, really. That made her feel special, which is very important. Unfortunately, she is not interested in any other sport or getting involved in activities or groups. We've pleaded with her to get active and get out, but nope. She is very introverted, but there is other stuff going on that I won't discuss, so we take things as they come at us day by day.

Congrats on the new to you bedroom! That is a dream of mine, that I am afraid will never happen. LOL What can ya do! Our bedroom is... I can't even describe it, it's that bad. I'm almost embarrassed to admit to this, but Simon (our dog) sleeps on our bed. Well he is going to be 14 years old this year and can't jump on it anymore and would not use doggie steps or a platform that Mark made for him, so, we took the bed apart and slept on the box spring and mattress on the floor. Yup. Then, even that got too high for him, (arthritis in his little legs) so, being the crazy fools that we are, we are now down to just the mattress on the floor. No.lie. Needless to say, NOBODY is allowed in our bedroom. LOL!!! It just about kills us getting up in the morning, as Mark has a bit of arthritis going on and I have fibromyalgia (mild at this time), so yeah... lots of sacrifices made for our little boy. But we wouldn't have it any other way. :cloud9: Some may think that's extreme or we are nuts, and I'm fine with that. :)

Heather, poor Martina just can't get a break! I hope she feels better and it doesn't get passed around the household. Ack! I see you are headed to California soon! Wow. Two trips to see the Mouse this year. Good for you! Mark and I *almost* booked a trip there last year, but didn't. I'm thrilled we got to get away for a bit at OKW and loved every minute of it. No trips this year, unless money starts falling from the sky, don't see that happening any time soon, LOL! but things could be (have been) worse.

Few people knew this was on our plate, (just Mark, me, and my two very best friends) so I can say something now about it. I was cleared of ovarian cancer just recently. *teeth* We hadn't bothered to tell family because we didn't want to add to the list of current issues/worries going on. If I did have it, well obviously, we would have had to tell people! Needless to say, I am very blessed and couldn't care less about a trip this year. :woohoo: Now, if they could just figure out what IS wrong with me, well then colour me one happy camper!

:grouphug: So sorry to hear you were worried about ovarian cancer. I am SO GLAD that it is NOT that!:thumbsup2 That is wonderful news! Now to figure out what it is (but my Mom has Fibromyalgia too, so I know how much that plays into everything and makes things harder to diagnose) Hang in there, Pickle.

Hope Cass's ankle gets better soon and she is able to play again soon pain free!

I am so blessed to have so many Disney trips this year! I am going from every other year, to the cruise, Disneyland AND Disney World all in the same year. I'm not sure what happened there, but i promise to enjoy every moment of it! pixiedust:

Martina seems to be doing better now. The Dr. thought she had a stomach virus on top of the Strep throat. She was miserable Friday and Sat, but seems to be feeling better. She finished the antibiotic this morning, so hopefully all of it is behind her now. (I am a little concerned, because she started it last Sat, so it hasn't quite been 10 days, but she did take it all) I now feel like I've been run over by a truck, so hoping I didn't get it.

Have a great Monday, Pickles!

Tracy, I am SO sorry you had a scare of possible Ovarian Cancer and very grateful you are okay. Fibro causes so many unanswered symptoms and problems, perhaps it is not a mild case right now at all? :grouphug:

Hope Cassie's ankle continues to heal and improve and she will be able to safely participate.

Heather, glad Martina is better, but not at all happy to hear you may have caught the bug. Hoping you will feel better very soon.

Janet, is the Bedroom completed? I told Mia you were going to send a before and after photo...we are still waiting!

Before I forget...Tracy, you know I know a LOT of dog lovers...all have their pups on the bed with them. In this house, we would never allow our furbabies to sleep anywhere else!

Sorry to end with something sad....and not sure if any of our pickles ever saw the original Mickey Mouse Club - it was the best and Annette was truly the star and always, until the day she passed...true Disney. She had a very severe form of MS and was in an MS coma the last few years. She passed from complications of MS. Rest in peace, dear Annette.

Thank you very much. :) Mark and I are very relieved to cross that one off our list. It was not an easy thing to go through, with the wait for the referrals, tests and then results while dealing with other things, that's for sure. Being torn in so many different directions is a very emotionally and draining time, and if you are not careful, can tear families apart. I still don't have my feet firmly placed on the ground from everything, but at least I don't have to deal with the dreaded "C" word. I can only move forward. Only other choice is down, and I'm not going in that direction any time soon, I hope!

Yup. Fibro sucks. Thankfully, mine seems to be mild, but hard to tell. I have a friend who has been practically disabled at times during very bad flare ups and she has lived with it for over twenty years now. She's amazing! This issue is definitely not fibro related so they better figure it out soon, because I am about to blow a gasket.

Oh it's not the dog sleeping with us that is embarrassing to admit. (I don't care what anyone thinks about that. LOL!) It's the fact that we are down to the mattress being on the floor!

Yes, it's sad that Annette died. She sure put up a good fight though, for having suffered with MS so long. :(

Heather - I sure hope you don't end up getting sick, too! Happy to hear that Martina is feeling better. And yeah, you've been fortunate with the Disney trips. Nothing wrong with that at all!! That's awesome! I am so very happy for you!

Need to go do some reading. Now to retain the information... that will be the challenge! HA! Happy day, all!
