Pickle part III

Thank you Christine and Kathy for your input. Gah, this is not helping! :lmao: We've had, *knock on wood* the best weather, crowds, everything! every single last week in August over Labour Day weekend ever since we've been going during those dates and that is since 2009 except for 2013.

In 2014 however, I think we may be stuck and have to go part of that last week and the week before in August. The pickle that we are in, is we have to accommodate my niece who will be entering her last year of university as she is the one who will be staying with Cass and the critters (if they are still with us then) and the last week of August is very hectic/inconvenient time for her, but doable if we have no other options. Love my niece! :lovestruc So, I am trying my best to work around it and give her as much room as possible.

First week of June may be an option?? :scratchin:

First of June..NOT including a Memorial Day if it is late....if it falls on a Monday, then go the next week. Souther schools get out anywhere from the last day of May to around the 11th of June...then NE, Midwest etc...depends on snow days how late into June. When we went the first week of June (not following Memorial Day) it wasn't terrible.

Most Southern schools go back mid August (17- 23 ish)... even some adhools up north are now going back before Labor Day. The last two weeks of August should be good...and the rates drop almost around mid August for some resorts...if planning to rent points, go to the point charts to see the difference in points required for each time frame - that will also give you a sense of how crowded and popular the time might be.:thumbsup2

This is such exciting news!! :goodvibes

We are probably looking at Aug 17-25 or in between somehow with 8 nights. We'll most likely do a 4/4 DVC split. That's close enough to when we usually go and we love it then, and already know that crowds are not busy (to us anyways) and since it is just Mark and I, we can do whatever we want, when we want. Now to get the planets aligned and all is well!

So excited we have another Pickle trip to plan. Ive never been in summer, so am no help, but I still love a nice pickle!

I will be on the plane in 14 hrs!!! I really should be sleeping, but I can't.

Had no idea you have a new job, Janet. Hope it's a good thing. *thumbs up*

To those going on trips soon, have a wonderful time and may you all be showered with pixie dust. :)

Tracey, it's added responsiblities, supporting more people in another area within the legal dept. The company basically took 2 admin jobs and now i do both :( And my friend lost her job which is sad. I'm fortunate and thankful to still have a job.

Janet I did get your message sorry I didn't respond you Caught me at a bad time, thank you for the nice words. We are thinking a DIS meet at MK on the 4rd. To all my pickle friends have a great weekend

Kathy, my only concern was that you rec'd my message

A Dis Meet on the 4th.... okay we are heading to AK first thing (its AM EMH)... were you thinking afternoon perhaps? Sure we can make it happen! :yay:

Tracey, that is WONDERFUL news about another Disney "pickle"! :goodvibes

Everyone has given you great advice, like you we have gone primarily in the mid to late August timeframe and have found it to be manageble. As you know crowds do fall off with the return of school for many. It's value season which is a huge plus. I'm liking the DVC split too!

Cool! We are tentatively going during your timeframe :) perhaps another chance for a DISmeet! :cool1:

YEAH!!!:banana::banana: Heather have a fabulous trip!! Send pix!! Have fun my friend!!

hey JanetB. There is no "e" in my name by the way. :) Nice of you to stop by, busy lady! Pretty slow here these days. Sorry there isn't anything exciting to read. Only a small pickle. ;)

We probably will be headed to Disney during that time frame and staying at BWV so I am sure a DIS meet could be arranged since it will be just me and hubby. :woohoo: I can't think of another one that I want to stay in really during that time, so a split may not happen. We could shorten our trip and splurge on a one bedroom as a possibility as well. MAYBE...

I'm anxiously waiting for Heather's review. I know she sure was excited to be staying there. I've wanted to stay there for a very long time, and the Poly, but I refuse to pay that kind of money for just a room and don't like what they are doing to it one bit. I'm saving my pennies like crazy and pretty much starving to death. (hey, gotta cut from the budget somewhere, eh? Why not groceries?!) :rotfl: Okay, I'm saving nickels, not pennies. They did away with pennies last year. They better start adding up fast.

Crazy week ahead. Thank goodness the time went back.

Happy first full week of November. :grouphug:

We are staying at BWV next month; I chose it for our December trip because I know we won't be swimming as I hate that clown pool. For our August/September trip, Mark and I will be staying seven nights at AKL/Kidani (May/June on my girls trip we are doing a split stay with AKL and OKW).

Oooh, I really enjoyed AKV Kidani. Have stayed there three times! Would you believe that I don't even know what the pool looks like on either side of the villas? True! Haven't even walked the resort area. I've only been out by the firepit/rocking chair area. :p

We also loved our stay at OKW, too. That was one of our best trips to Disney, to be honest! If we did do a 4/4 split it would most likely be with OKW. The clown pool doesn't bother me - sure it's ugly, but that's one heck of a slide! I do want to try BCV, but not crazy about the hoards of people that would be at the pool. Ugh. :sad2: It's a pickle.

I hope you enjoy your stay next month! That area is beautiful every which way you turn. Ahhhhhhh.

In all honesty, I was not a fan of BCV at all; it would be my last choice for a DVC resort after BLT.

This will be our second stay at AKV; we did two nights the first time and are looking forward to a longer stay this time.

Well, I got an email with a FABULOUS deal and I am happy to announce that our 2014 resort has been booked. My dream resort. Can you say EXCITED?!?!?! EEEEEEEP! ♥

Lucky you! We're over the moon. Not too keen on these new fangdangled magic band thingys though.... grrrr. Tracy does not like change. LOL!

We got ours for the trip in 20 days. I am not excited about them at all. It's not the bands so much, but the stupid new FP+ system. I'll be sure to give my feelings on it when we return.

Sorry! This Pickle has been busy and dealing with PDD since she got back. Boardwalk Villas was AMAZING!!! Perfect location, espescially during F&W. The kids loved the pool & slide. The Villas pool was beautiful and very relaxing. The best part of that was that it is right by Community Hall, where the kids hung out A LOT! They are supposed to be 12 to be in there alone, but the CM's said that Martina was very Mature, and that I could go sit by the pool while she played  (Plus, Chris is 13, so he may have counted as her "adult" anyway. We were spoiled by all the extra space in the 1 br. It was nice to have the washer/dryer, kitchen, and big tub. We made breakfast almost every morning, and it was so much more relaxing that way (Never thought I would say THAT) All in all, a much more relaxing trip!

I would like to try BCV when it is warmer for Stormalong by, but if my kids were grown, I think I'd agree with you...I'd rather a more relaxed pace.

:beach::beach:
Why, the POLY of course! :hyper: <----- Just a wee bit excited. :teeth:
Oh Cool!!!! Yay!!! I guess the discounts are cause of the construction??? Whatever the reason, glad you got a deal!!!

I have mixed feelings after using the magic bands. They were nice for charging, room and park entry, etc. I'm not a huge fan of fastpass + though. A big part of why we bought DVC was for more relaxed vacations and not wanting to plan as much out in advance. THis has totally blown that out of the water. And if you have to change one time, you have to change your entire day. Too much work for me. It was nice on our Hollywood studios day...we planned the pool in the morning, and DHS in the afternoon. With traditional fastpass, we wouldn't have been able to ride Toy Story Mania, as all of the fastpasses would be gone. It was nice to be able to plan just the afternoon and evening in the park (as long as you don't have to change anything) Our EPCOT day, we had a fastpass for Test Track at 10, and when we got to the area at 9:30 all the fastpasses for that and Soarin were GONE. I think that is why they are now "tiering" the rides there.

I'm curious to see what you think. Honestly, we didn't even really need fastpasses for much when we were there, because it just wasn't that busy, except for the headliners. I'm curious to see what you think at a slightly busier time. One thing I didn't like was that you can't just cancel a fastpass if you don't need it. You have to pick something else. Our last day in Magic Kingdom, we only used 1 fastpass. Everything else was walk-on. It kept letting us move our other 2 fastpasses to later in the day, but we were heading to the airport. It needs to let you just be able to cancel ones you know you won't use, so someone else can get them. This wasn't an issue last week, since things were walk on, but I bet during Christmas week, someone would have really appreciated those fastpass slots.

Have a great night, My Pickle Friends!!!

I better come back and read this again in the morning because this all flew over me like a 757. :duck: I am SO TIRED. Just got home from the hospital. I should just move in for the long haul, although we really don't know how long it's going to be now. :( It's pitiful to watch, I can tell you that much. She recognized my eldest step daughter but not Cassidie at first because she was wearing glasses. As soon as she took them off, she recognized her and said, "Cassidie, you are a beautiful girl." :cloud9: and then she gingerly turned towards me and pulled me close to her and said, "and you are her very beautiful mother." I lost it. :sad2: God bless her.

Anyways, I need sleep as I am drooling. Magic bands sound like the debbil to me!!!

Tracy, as you knowI was away..and the DIS never let's me know about new posts...finally got around to checking all my subscriptions. :)

Well, you know I am over the top happy and excited for your stay at the Polynesian (I dislike the slang for my beloved home resort. ;) )

We've stayed there more times than I can count and I still keep very close tabs on the goings on ...this is when it is nice to have teeny inside connection. :thumbsup2

Janet usually goes in August and might be interested in that great rate. ::yes:: funny, I am signed up for the TA email specials, but never saw one...unless I deleted it without reading since it would not be possible...or it went to spam and I missed it when going through that folder. :confused3. Not like I could go anyway!! :rotfl:

What fun you will have planning!! :yay:

I'm so sorry, Tracy! Alzheimer's sucks:grouphug:

I'm so sorry, Tracy! Alzheimer's sucks:grouphug:

It does suck. My mom has Alzheimer's - a very fast progressing one and we think she will be put into a nursing home next year as it's getting to be too much for my dad to handle alone and they don't qualify for financial assistance from our government. However, if he divorced her, he's got it made. :thumbsup2 Yeah, really proud of our government at the moment. My father was in tears when they had the audacity to suggest it to him. What is WRONG with some people?! :worried:

It's my MIL in the hospital and she has frontal lobe dementia, with rage tendencies. It's pitiful to watch. We almost lost her twice and the doctors are as shocked as we are that she seems to have turned a corner for the better, but we are still in the dark as to whether she will be released and returned to the nursing home. Good willing... Thanks for the hugs. xo
