Pickle part III

Sunday Greetings!

Looks like we've all been busy with life the last few weeks.:thumbsup2

I have been trying to take it easy and heal....I'll tell ya, never realized this sort of surgery is waay more than the simple healing of outside incisions - who knew there are hundreds inside where the real healing takes place. I made several mistakes of lifting far more than the 5lb limit - every infraction means one step back, but with more rest, healing does happen...just have to cooperate. ;)

My post-op app't is November 17th when I expect the Dr to say healing has progressed enough to live pretty normally with some minor restrictions. Will see the radiologist oncologist after the first app't and listen to his recommendations - then will take a couple of weeks to consider my options, what will be best for me. If the side effects are what I've heard then I may choose no radiation (severe diarrhea which could have long term side effects - would effect my everyday quality of life - thanks, but no thanks).

One question I will have for my gyn is if it will be safe to ride on anything very bumpy. :rolleyes1 Yep...bumpy...because the day after my app't will be leaving for WDW!!!!! :cool1: 4 glorious ngts at the VWL thanks to a dear friend.....our very own Janet.:goodvibes

It all happened so quickly I'm not even sure reality has set in yet. Thursday I mentioned in passing to Janet, in an email, that I'd literally just found out Michael has 7 vacations days he must use before Dec 31 b/c the days will not roll over. Well, that got Janet thinking and calculating and looking - and by the end of the day she told me if Michael could get the days off, and I would be up to it, we would be leaving for WDW on Thursday 11/18 for 4 ngts - her treat!! She said she has wanted to do something special after the surgery and Monday the 22nd just happens to be my birthday! :teeth:

By Friday we had flights going down and Amtrak booked coming back. Our flights arrive within 15 mins of each other, both on SW ..and the fares were great. :) It all fell into place so quickly and easily that we knew it was meant to be. ::yes:: Fingers crossed I can ride Safari with all the bumps!

Oh! Janet has an AP now - resort offerings, ap or public code were very limited due that weekedn being the begining of Thanksgiving week. We were going to stay at POP becausee all that came up was POP, SSR or AKL std view (horrid)....so she booked POP, but while we were on the phone chatting she happened to check again and VWL popped up, so shee grabbed it - is this meant to be or what???:dance3: Oh, and she brought MVMCP tkts for our arrival ngt!!!!

Talk about a sweet friend. Her thoughtfulness brought grateful tears.

Not only is this her treat, but Janet does not fly! she is flying down so I will not be left to deal my suitcase alone! (With the current major bedbug issue everywhere, decided it would be best to take luggage with so we can check the room first.) She has been so sweet, thoughtful and generous.:goodvibes

So, that's latest! Anyone else have news?? :teeth:

Hi Pickles!
Hope everyone has been doing well!

As you know Christine and I have a Disney trip planned leaving in 10 days! Can’t believe it all came together so fast. I’m happy to be able to bring Christine back to see Mickey after all she has been thru :)

It must be fate … about 2 weeks ago, Howard finally decided to bring in the coins we have been saving in our plastic jug – you know one of those big ones from Costco. Well, we all tried to guess the amount of money in the jar and the amount surprised everyone (I was the closest). So, what to do with the “found” money??? Well, Howard thought “a new BBQ”, the kids thought “a new computer” and an "IPOD touch", and I thought “a flat screen TV”. Well the money was still sitting in an envelope on my dresser … when , Christine sends me an email last Thursday … and I asked Howard, can I use that money for something different and special??? My DH is incredibly generous and he told me to take the money!! So, Christine, our loose change totaled $978!!! My kids are happy for me (Samantha has been going thru her pins for trading purposes) and they just want me to go and have fun.

My sister in law is coming in to help out, and I feel incredibly lucky to have such a great family and that Christine and I can experience Disney together, especially since her birthday falls on our last day there. In a way, this is my Birthday celebration too as mine is in December.

Now, just to get thru that flight down and I will be so happy!!! :yay:

Woo Hoo!
I am so happy for you guys! Janet, You can do it!!! Just keep thinking about the magic waiting for you at the other end!:grouphug:

Janet, I had no idea you had turned in the money - my gosh, that is amazing!! How generous of you and your family to use it this way!! :grouphug: We are going to have SO MUCH fun!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You definitely were on a mission last Thursday/Friday..and of course, I had no idea.

You're going to do great on the plane! Take a little something to relax...put on the headphones and before you know it, you'll be walking down the gateway and I'll be there waiting with a big hug!

By the way, I'm listening to Christmas music on one of the cable music channels. :santa:

PS We will definitely be celebrating two birthdays - Janet's is Dec 13, just 3 weeks afte mine. :woohoo:

I hope you have a blast, Pickles!!!:grouphug:

Thanks, Tracy. This was not any trip that had been planned - it was a complete surprise and unexpected. ::yes::

A fast 4 ngts, but the resort was much nicer than expected. Do not think I'd like the Lodge (narrow hallways, noisy, and rooms a little dreary), but the Villa was wonderful - very peaceful and sooo pretty. Christmas decorations went up overnight Thursday (a day late we were told), so Friday morning we awoke to gorgeous holiday decorations. The Villas have a more subtle theme - sort of rustic, yet simple elegance. Definitely preferred the atrium villa lobby and decor to the main Lodge Lobby - it was massive....still beautifully decorated. I just preferred the smaller, homey Villa lobby and decorations. We had a studio - corner room with a balcony and side window! Balcony faced the lake with some pine trees in between, but we could still kind of see the EWP and hear the music. From the balcony & side window we could see the top of Wishes. Nice. :)

Turns out 7 weeks after major surgery is NOT the best time for a visit to WDW. Had some setbacks - some terrible back spasm pain and bleeding. the Safari was waaay too bumpy. I had planned not to go on it, but once there forgot all about that plan. :confused3

Janet was a real trooper when we had to get a wheelchair. Used it about half the day....would not have made it otherwise. :sad2:

Still, we had a great time - the train home was fun, even though we got on at 7:30 p.m. and I got off at 9 the next morning. We were chatting until about 11 then we both conked out.

Guest service at WL & VWL was outstanding. I called the housekeeping manager on the morning of departure to see about a checkout at noon instead of 11. When I explained why, she asked to call me back in a couple of minute....it was literally about 3 mins. she said she was sorry to say that the Villas was overbooked, but she would be over with room keys to a WL room that we could use as late as needed! We were stunned by their generosity.

We met several outstanding CMs at WL/VWL this trip. Pixie dust was shared. :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a nice day! Tracy, I'm sorry you did not get to your friend's in NY for the weekend. Feel better soon.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then, Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then, when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you! Where would you like me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree....

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
My Dad sent me that email too! I love it!

Christine, I'm glad you and Janet had fun! I love the Villas lobby too! So relaxing! I've never been in an actual villas room, but I love the lobby areas over there.

I hope all my pickles have a very Merry Christmas!:grouphug:

Merry Christmas, Pickles!!!

Have a warm and fuzzy day with your families!

Miss you! :grouphug:

Hi Pickles!!! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!! Santa was very good to me! I now have a ticker!!! I think we are going to stay at POR. (I was hoping for CSR, but Brian likes the location of the Port Orleans resorts better...as long as I'm in Disney, I'm happy!) Chris really wants to stay at Boardwalk, but we'd need one heck of a code for that. It was almost 1500more.

Well helloooo dere!! Christmas at our house is crazy, as usual. We had our Christmas dinner here this afternoon. I am pooped. And sick of turkey! AND...we have to do it again on Tuesday at my BIL's house. Hurl!

Hurray for the ticker! Tickers rock! :yay: We plan on staying at POR for our next trip also. I think we'll love it as much as CBR. Mark wants to stay at YC. I do too, but, we need to get rich and famous before that's gonna happen. I can't stop thinking about our trip this past summer. We had so much fun and our room location was out of this world. Talk about withdrawal. :sad2: Can't stop thinking about Disney.

Happy New Year Pickles!!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday and that Santa was good to you all. Well, Heather I know Santa was good to you!! So happy to hear all your plans for your trip.:goodvibes

Howard had some foot surgery right before Christmas -- so he was home for 3 weeks (just returned to work today). Paul is still on college break - he goes back in 10 days. Sam's back at school, and already wants a day off!! Actually our school has a 4 day weekend over MLK holiday so she will get her wish. Philly is supposed to maybe get some snow -- we never really know how much until it happens as it depends on if the storm moves further out to the coast or inland. Well, whatever is supposed to happen will start tomorrow night.

Had a nice weekend (but fast) as I went out with some friends from work Sat. - we saw a show, had dinner and then back to my girl friend's house, and talked some more, and had chocolate martinis -yum! I highly recommend them :thumbsup2

Till later all!
Janet

Just realized you had a ticker Tracy ... that's great!! Hope you get a refurb room at POR - queen beds will be awesome!

Sorry I'm behind...no email updates! :confused3

Heather, did not see your good news - :woohoo::cheer2::yay:

Tracy, I can't believe you posted on 12/26 and I'm only seeing it now! LOVE the ticker! :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:

Janet, where's your ticker?????

I wanna a ticker too. :sad2: Maybe I'll add one just to add a little color to my posts...but that would just be depressing since I've no idea when I'll be visiting Micky again - story of my life now that I ran out of children to borrow. ;)

Oh...wait...my BFF is visiting Feb vacation week and we're going to Savannah for 3 ngts to celebrate our birthdays! Unstead of sending one another gifts for birthdays, Hanukkah or Christmas we are visiting Savannah! :hippie:

Sure is nice to see some Pickle postings!

It was great to talk to you yesterday! Still feeling pretty blah....wound up taking a sick day today so that I can get some rest.

Savannah sounds nice! You can always borrow my kids for a Disney fix though!!!

Savannah sounds nice! You can always borrow my kids for a Disney fix though!!!

Sorry you're not feeling well - feel better very soon.

Oh sure - easy to say, but in reality who wants to miss a Disney trip themselves??? The only kids I could borrow were from parents who had absolutely no desire to visit WDW. Shocking, I know!!

Went to Savannah last January with Mia, toddler Sophia and the pups - it was great, but we didn't see much with all the 'tagalongs'.:rotfl:

My BFF always wanted to go so I persuaded her to come down here during MA schools Feb break (she is a special Ed teacher) and we'll go for 3 ngts. Staying at a very nice B&B right in the heart of the Historic District (Janet, we changed B&B's since I told you about it).

By the time you get to POR, the refurb should be completed!!:yay: That will be sooo nice, even I would stay there!!! (too spread out and not my fave theme - though I did have one nice stay there and on I'd like to forget.:rotfl2:).

Heather by now you are feeling better and that you did get some rest today

Janet, where's your ticker?????

'cause I have no idea WHEN or WHO will be going, that's why!!! :)

Seriously, I can not figure out when the 4 of us can go if not the summer. But Howard really does not like it hot and humid, so ... those trips in August have been just Sam and me. Right now I am holding the last full week in August for FD - it may be Sam and I and a friend and her daugther (Tracy it might cross over some of the time you are there - if we do go then, it would be great to meet up with you (even though I know you will be with friends, be nice to just meet and say hi!)

I've toyed around with going with the Fam Thkging week -- but don't know what Paul's situation would be re school/work. The weather was beautiful when Christine and I were there this past year - and - a big plus - Heather would be there :woohoo: I think the "boys" will like the cooler weather).

By now you guys have figured out that Sam and I are the Disney people in our household - Paul is at the age where other things interest him and Howard just isn't into it like Sam and I. I hope to "convert" him by getting him back to Disney, and staying at a different resort - last time we were all there we were at ASMu. While I love the values for many things, it would be better for the 4 of us to stay in a place that is bigger and have a few more ammentities. We would probably do Univerisal as well. Sam is now into Harry Potter.

SO, no ticker for me yet ... and lately I tend to be a spur of the moment planner!!

Have a good night all ... and we'll see if the kids are in school tomorrow (they hope NOT!)
Janet

I am feeling better, thanks! Now I just have a migraine, which I'm hoping sleep will help.

We are actually at POFQ as of right now. Happy that we will have Queen beds, and think we will like the smaller size berrer than POR. Not so excited about the theming...CSR and CBR are both more "tropical" which is more me, but Brian wanted to try POFQ, and I was excited he had an opinion, so that is where we are (for now there were NO codes or discounts at any Mods, we would probably switch if we had to to save a few $$)

Oh wow!!! That would be AWESOME if you all wound up there the same week!:yay::yay:

My kids are already expecting a 2 hr delay. I keep telling them not to get their hopes up...now it looks like we are just in the 2-4 inch zone, and we haven't even seen the first flake yet (well other than me:lmao:)

Brian was supposed to take his Project Manager certification exam tomorrow, but the cancelled that alredy. Needless to say, he's not very happy...it wasn't supposed to be till 1pm...you would think they could at least wait to see what it looks like in the morning before making a decision.:confused3
