Pickle part III

I am anxiously awaiting being able to book air for our cruise. Because we need more specific times, I am on pins and needles. Airtan and Southwest should release fares in July. I hope it's July1 cause I won't sleep well until it's booked. Then we can wait for 2013 room rates and solve my resort Pickle.

I texted Janet the other day to let her know we are "Pickling" again:lmao: Hopefuly she will be around soon!

I don't quite think we are "pickling" again, but this is better than nothing! :rotfl:

Ahem, one month and 25 days until Cassie and I leave. I have a pickle though. I can get good airfare $502 with AirTran (not direct) out of Portland and also a good deal $559 with Southwest (direct) out of Manchester, NH. Never flown either and SW is free baggage but further to drive and would involve a hotel stay ($70) Ugh, dunno what to do. Heard that AirTran is notorious for changing their flights. That would anger me. We don't want an angry Tracy. :sad2:

Why can't Canada get with the program and lower their prices. I just got an email from Air Canada about a huge special to Orlando. Only $797 per person. :lmao::lmao::lmao: Um, I fly the three of us for LESS than that out of Maine. Hello stupids!!

Chris was born Dec. 19. He was my Christmas present that year....wasn't due till Jan 6.

Toby was my Christmas present too - he was due on Dec 24th, so I thought it was nice of him to arrive early on the 9th! :thumbsup2

Yeah..I wash everything whether it was worn or not as soon as we get home too. I also wash anything new right away too. Brian always used to think I was crazy until we bought new sheets, opened them up, and there was a dead cockroach in there. Now he "gets it"

Oh my gosh...that is disgusting!!! Anything new goes directly into the dryer for 20 mins to kill any possible bedbugs or eggs...then it gets washed and usually hung up to dry as we don't put much clothing into the dryer to avoid shrinkage. Ah, the things we do to keep our homes bug free.;)

LOL! I love that! Nope, Wrong room. I am nervous about that with Chris on the cruise. He can sign himself in and out of the teen club, and basically go anywhere he wants, whenever he wants. We have already discussed that he is not to go in anyone's room, bring anyone into our room, etc......Guess we will have to see how that goes.

Oh, that is a lot of freedom...he'll enjoy that I am sure. ::yes:: No matter how well we raise our kids, we learn quickly they sometimes surprise us with their decisions. He'll have enough fun going in and out of the teen club and not go to any rooms...at least not without asking!

That is so hard to be waiting and especially know you need specific times. Fingers crossed for you!! I could never do a cruise...all that deep water and the ship being so HUGE and HIGH! I'll enjoy hearing about yours!

Are the AirTran abd SW fares round trip, I hope? If it is any consolation - SW bought out Airtran, so hopefully, the airline will improve. I can see the difference in schedules from Raleigh/Durham to MCO and it's not good news though - far less non-stops that previously. No longer a very early morning nonstop flight - first nonstop isn't until 9:30....or maybe it was 8:30.

Good luck, Trace...definitely a pickle!

Tracy, did you pm the other pickles to let them know the thread is up and running again? If not, do let then know and include the link. ::yes:: I had no idea the thread was up and running again until you mentioned it to me on FB. I think both of them only visit regular threads, so they would not know about this one.:goodvibes

Today is the first of 102 degree days...no going outside at all...will have to carry the pups to a shady part of the grass so they can a quick piddle, then carry them right back inside. In this heat their paws can get burnt from the deck, even grass directly in the sun.

TGIF!!!! :woohoo:

Yes, round trip and I know about the buyout. Still leery of schedule changes. That would really tick me off. Anyhow, my cousin in Portland takes AirTran all the time and said to book with them, so I will. Booking today. Weehoo,

I didn't tell Kari because she can't access the forum on her phone and does not have internet at home and Kathy has other important things on her mind than to deal with another thread. Heather already told Janet, so yeah, everybody who needs to know knows. If you want to tell Kathy, that's fine. I personally, don't want to bother her. I imagine her email is getting bombarded left and right. :( Poor thing.

Once she starts posting on her thread I'll mention it. :)

Being that it is your thread, it would be nice to send Janet an invitation and pm with the link. :teeth: If you want others to try to get over here, then it is nice to let them know..and include the link...then if they don't have time that's understandable, but they might like to at least stop by and say hello. :)

Hi ladies! Feeling kinda lousy today. Not sure if it is the weather, or if I am coming down with something. I haven't fellt good all week, but today I am really dizzy, achey and exhausted! I'd head to bed at 6 when I am done work, but Brian has a photobooth at a wedding tonight. I'll rent the kids a couple of redbox movies and hope for the best!

I'd go for the direct, as I always have bad luck with connections, but I have never had a problem on Air Tran. (although they used to have a lot more flights than they do now....I noticed that since the buyout, both airlines have less flights) I saw below that you are going with Air tran....I think you will be fine....more spending $$ in Disney.
Oh, that is a lot of freedom...he'll enjoy that I am sure. ::yes:: No matter how well we raise our kids, we learn quickly they sometimes surprise us with their decisions. He'll have enough fun going in and out of the teen club and not go to any rooms...at least not without asking!

Yeah...he is so excited about having some freedomd Mom is nervous, but I will have to get over it. The no going into anyone's room is a hard set rule though....It may be Disney, but there are sickos everywhere.

It is hot here too....but not quite as hot as you all have it down there...we are going to high 90's with heat index over 100...so a little "cooler"

Will your pups wear those little booties? We got some for Jasmine the year we adopted her, but she wouldn't wear them. Unfortunately, at 50 lbs, I can't pick her up to avoid heat in the summer or salt in the winter, so thought they would be great, but she had other ideas.....

:wave2: Hello my sweet Pickles!!! :goodvibes

Thanks Heather for the heads up ...I'm just a little s-l-o-w lately ... :goodvibes

Wow, congrats girl! I am too chicken for a cruise. Would freak out being surrounded by all that water and no where to go. :scared1: Cass and I are staying at AKV Jambo for three nights and then headed over to our beloved CBR for free dining for 6 nights. Then I am home for 10 days and leave again (had a flight credit I had to use and loved my trip last year) so staying the first two nights at AKV Jambo and 6 nights at OKW while Kathy and Mark will be there. :yay: I get to meet another pickle! Oh and will be meeting up with Janet in August, too. How cool is that?

Mega cool Trace!! :cool2: Sam and I are looking forward to it!!

Cass and I leave in 57 days and still don't have airfare. ACK!!

Happy hump day. I am off to the doctor today to see about adjusting meds and getting me some sleep as this has become ridiculous. Two and three hours a night has just about made me ready for the funny farm. I then have a therapeutic massage at 1:30 for neck and shoulder pain for anxiety/tension. I am so tired of hurting. :( Can't wait. It will be my second one and I have coverage for two more. Then $80 out of pocket for me, which stinks, but i need it.

Been a bit depressed lately. The weather does not help, that's for sure. No summer here! It's crazy the rain that we've had.

Uh, where is Janet? I know Kathy is busy and has other things to occupy her time and Kari doesn't have a computer, so this is going to be sparse chit chat. I miss the old days. *cry* My, times have changed.

Have a good day everyone.

Okay here I am!!! [I was born late! :rotfl2: actually true ... due date was 11th, came out on the 13th!!

Trace, hope you can get some relief and some sleep. Lately all I am is tired, tired, tired. Allergies are really kicking in ... want to keep up with the YMCA but haven't been all week. :sad2:

Oh, Heather, hope this passes and you feel better soon.

Hi Christine!! Thought I grabbed a quote from you ... guess I didn't! oh I like Heather's booties idea ... will Gracie & Rosie wear them??

Ahhh ... the teenage years ... so MUCH fun!! [yeah, right!]

Later all!!

I knew you would show up when you had a moment. :thumbsup2 I consider this "our" thread, not mine. Have always felt that way. Anyways, nice to hear from ya lady! Don't give up at the Y. Don't you feel better after a good work out? I understand the tired part, believe me. I force myself to go to the gym. Like right now... my butt should be there, but it's sitting here...on my sofa. Then again, it's 7am and I've been up for several hours now and a tad sleepy. Might try to grab a nap and then go. We'll see.

It's Canada Day tomorrow so after church this evening, we are headed to our friend's camp at the ocean and will be having a bon fire and setting off 200 fireworks. :scared1: I should be ready for a straight jacket by the end of it. Unpredicted noises scares the crap out of me! LOL Then there is the late night drive home with deer and moose along the highway. OMG, panic attack now just thinking about it. :sad2:

Yes, Cassie is excited to meet up with you as well! She really wants to swim at POP. I knew I should have booked there instead of AKV. Sigh. Too late now.

Hope you are feeling better, Heather. Hugs!!

Pray for no rain today or tomorrow!

Hope you are feeling better today...but with this heat, it could be heat related. Keep hydrated!

Our pups are so small we just carry them down to the grass - a shady area...but they are also trained to piddle pads inside, so when it's hot like this we only take them out early in the morning and after the sun begins to go down. Don't know what I'd do if we had pups we couldn't pick....sure I do..I'd worry like crazy!!

 Worried about you all at the water park today. Be sure to let me know you're home safe and sound....hope no one gets sick from the heat.

I'm sorry - hope you didn't take offence by what I said about it being your thread vs ours... it is yours because you started it :woohoo: so if you get it going again, it's nice to let the others know it is up and running again. I'd never have found it if you hadn't told me, so it was really helpful when you let me know. It is a GOOD thing!! ::yes::

Did I read Pool Hopping??? Promise not to tell the DIS Pool Hopping police!!!:rotfl2:

It is so hot here today that we were on CNN - live report no less. 111-115 heat index and at least 102 for the high temp...but it could get hotter. We hit a record yesterday. Thank goodness we have power - so many in VA and DC do not...we've had that happen before and it's scary b/c it gets so hot it is truly like an oven.

Bless those who are without AC in this heat.:goodvibes

I'm dealing with a lot of issues in my life right now. I need to get things under control and it's best if I just stay away from posting for awhile.

Take care, ladies.

:grouphug: Hugs, Tracy! We are here if you need us!!!

Hey - can't sleep so might as well post a blurb. So many things going on that I want to scream. The main issue is my mom has been diagnosed with dementia. Not many people know right now. She is still being tested as they don't know what form yet, but in my heart, I know it's Alzheimer's. :sad1: She is only 70 years old and it is killing me inside. My dad is going through h*ll right now. It's a lot to bear with his own health issues and trying to sell their house while living in their new one.

We are going to have family portraits done in late September with my parents, sister and her family so mom will have something to look at while she still remembers us. I dyed my hair back to it's natural brown colour for that reason as that's how my mom knows her baby girl. I've been a basket case...not gonna lie and I have no idea how I am going to deal with this. It's already caused strain and this is just the beginning.

I just returned from a week long trip in one of our most gorgeous provinces, Newfoundland, aka The Rock. Truly magnificent. Was able to let my hair down a bit and be spoiled by my good friend's mom. She flew me over as she wanted to meet the "angel" (LOL) who stood by her daughter's side while she almost died from surgery a few months back. Those on facebook may know about this. She is my closest friend here, and we have so much in common, it's frightening. I consider her the sister I never really had. (my sister and I are nothing alike and tolerate each other, at best. Sigh.) Anyways, she is going through a separation and I was all she had as all of her family is back 'home' and all of her friends dumped her when she was diagnosed with her mental illness, much like myself. God gave us each other for a reason. I literally gave my all to her for a month and gave up my own family, with their blessing, of course, to take care of her because her "husband" was too busy traveling for work to care. :sad2: My trip was somewhat relaxing and I was treated with wonderful Newfie hospitality. :cloud9: Coming home was hard, knowing what I had on my plate, and she is still over there for another two weeks.

As of tomorrow, Cass and I will be heading to Portland, ME in three weeks to start our journey to Disney. Wish I could say I am excited, but I would be lying. :sad2: At least I will get to see my besties from New York and hopefully get to meet Janet and Sam.

Eleven days after getting home, I'll be heading down to Disney again to use an airline credit we got from our Dominican vacation earlier this year. I loved my solo trip so much last year, that I decided to do it again and rent DVC. It's just so cheap and I love the hot weather. However, turns out I will not be solo after all. Mark is going to be coming with me as he has not had any holidays this year and is unable to come with Cass and I for our usual vacation time with our besties. He has been going through a depression himself, so this will be good for us to get away. He'll be on a different airline though and arrives before I do! LOL. We hope to meet up with Kathy and Mark while they are there, God willing. So, if all turns out, I'll have met two more Pickles!

So, that is some of my life lately. Sorry so long. Insomnia is great!! Not. :headache: Hope all are well.

Trac, thanks for the heads up that the thread was alive again.

As you know, we have a lot of medical things going on right now which are consuming a lot of our time. I will try to read and catch up later.

But I did skim quickly, and saw that Mark is now joining you. I hope we can meet up at some point if not for a drink, at least a hello or something (will know more as the trip gets closer....46 days).

Hugs, Tracy. Alzheimers stinks! I am glad you are spending as much time together as you can now, and the family portrait eill be great! Glad Mark is coming to WDW with you!!

It has been quite a hectic past few weeks for us. My Grandma turned 92 on the 17th, but passed away on the 21st. She was very tired when we saw her on the 14th, but otherwise ok. We think she just saw everyone and decided it was her time. My kids have been in Hawaii with my parents since the 18th, and I miss them so much. My Dad came back for the funeral, but Mom and the kids stayed. To top it off, I came home after the funeral on Sunday and sliced my finger open on a pyrex measuring cup that shattered. 7 stitches later, I am bummed cause I can't get it wet, and we leave for vacation Friday (I think...my Aunt isn't doing well, so....) Anyway...we are supposed to fly to Vegas on Friday night for 2 days and then on to Maui to spend time with my parents and pick up the kids. I am going to bubble wrap myself in January for a month before our cruise!!!

Hi Kathy! Good to "see" you here! You hang in there too...you have quite a full plate as well!

:grouphug:for all of my Pickle friends!:grouphug:

Thanks, Heather. I know we all have crap we are dealing with. Makes you really wonder sometimes. :( I hope you have a wonderful time in Hawaii. My dream is to get there some day! Looooooongggg flights from my part of the world.

Kathy - I should hope we could find a few minutes to see each other! Good grief. I'd be pretty disappointed if we couldn't. I am sorry that your plate is so full, too. Hugs to you all.

Hi again. I've decided this thread is dead and I'm done trying to resurrect it. Everyone seems to have their own threads they hang out in now and have long moved on. I don't even see people on facebook anymore, and that's fine. We're all busy, have stuff to deal with, etc.. I can respect that because I am one of them. But, this was my only place to talk with you guys and that makes me sad. As the say, life goes on. Take care all and happy Disney planning! :)

Thanks, Heather. I know we all have crap we are dealing with. Makes you really wonder sometimes. :( I hope you have a wonderful time in Hawaii. My dream is to get there some day! Looooooongggg flights from my part of the world.
Yeah the flights are tough. Even from here, it is at least 18 hrs with layovers. Then add on the time change and you are a zombie for the first few days there and then again the first few coming home. Hopefully stopping in Vegas on the way out will help with the jet lag a little. You know I don't sleep well anyway, so it may not matter.

Well, I was excited to see you posted again today! I'd love to see us keep the thread alive, but understand if you don't want to.:flower3::grouphug:

Hello, Pickles. Busy day at work today and try to catch up on all my threads (I've decided it is near impossible on some days). And been dealing with Power of Attorneys for my inlaws.

I hope everyone has a glorious weekend. I'm taking Mark to Milwaukee on Saturday to go to the zoo (our zoo doesn't have elephants and Milwaukee does and they are Mark's favorite). Then we are meeting a DISer and his family for lunch.
