Pickle part III

Heather - meant to add, a friend at work is going this Thanksgiving (on free dining - she got a pin). I will be able to get the scoop from her on how the parks are, dining, etc. She's going Monday, returning Sat after thanksgiving.
:)

On Thanksgiving I believe they are eating at their resort (staying at wilderness lodge, will be eating at Artist Point).

Hey pickles ,
Well, I had an impromptu Disney trip myself with Samantha and my sister in law from 8/21 to 8/28. I wish I’ve known Tracy was going to be there – so kind of mad at myself for not letting everyone know. I actually wasn’t sure if I was keeping the trip, so many things going on at home. Car issues, (including shopping for Paul’s car until the day I left for DW) and trying to figure out whether to fix mine or look for a replacement. With Paul getting ready for college and Sam getting ready for Middle School, I’ve had my ups and downs in the emotional dept. lately so sometimes I deal with it by withdrawing. Throwing in my intense dislike for flying, I really didn’t know what to do - I was so stressed leading up to the departure. Howard’s company just completed their move to new offices (of course it is FURTHER away from our house.). He already drives 42 miles, now it’s more like 52 each way.

So, I kind of wasn’t in the Disney mood before going, weird huh? I did have a great time (and I got to meet a fellow DISer quite unexpectedly!) We were chatting with a couple next to us in 50’s Primetime Cafe and our talk turned to Disney and she asked me if I ever visited any Disney Forums – and I mentioned the DIS - and lo and behold – a DISer!! It is a small world.:) Her Dis name is mylittlebuttercup - she and her fiancé were staying at the Poly and doing a live TR!

So, my pickles, next time I’m letting you all know when I’m planning a Disney trip so my pickle pals can help me plan and have fun.
hugs to all!
Janet

Well well.:goodvibes How wonderful that we have another pickle to solve! I'm so happy that you are planning a trip next year, Heather. Yahoo!!! It's been total chaos these past couple of months here, so it will be nice to sit back, relax and enjoy everyone else planning their trips. I think that the dining plan is absolutely the way to go. The prices at Disney are insane. $2.50 for a bottle of water. Come on! We had wonderful table service meals this trip and I won't do it any other way, now. Not one table service meal for the three of us was under $110. :scared1: It was so nice to be able to just look at the menu, order what I wanted and not even stress about the price. That said, there are pros and cons to everything. Making decisions stink. I have a hard time with that apparently. :lmao:

Kari, I waved as we flew over Jacksonville Saturday night. Did you see me? I hope you had a great time with the kidlets! I also waved to the right at Christine in St. Augustine. I think she was still there. :confused3

Janet, how nice that you got to go on a mother/daughter trip. I hope that I can do that some day with Cass. Not for a few years though. We may have passed by each other at the parks and not even have known it! :rotfl: It's all a blur now and I can't remember which days we did each park. All I know is it was HOT, I got fatter, I ate AMAZING food and had a wonderful time with my New Yawk friends. :grouphug:

Kathy - your trip is coming up soon! Isn't it exciting? Every time I saw popcorn::, I thought of you. I never did try any. I figured as swollen as my ring fingers were from the heat, if I added any sodium to that mixture, my hands would have blown off my body. :sad2:

No popcorn, again? Well, there's a reason to go back. :rotfl:

Yes, 11 days and counting. We so need to just get away for awhile.

Are you going to post more pictures from your trip?

There is always a reason to go back. :lovestruc I understand needing to get away for awhile. Boy, do I ever. Cherish it. I'm :sad1: now.

No, not going to post more. Here is the big "surprise" photo. Would you believe this is the ONLY one that Joe Photographer took of us?! Too much excitement and commotion, he said. :confused3 I love her so much!!

and this one, just for you. :)

I LOVE the surprise picture, but I even love the pic of Cassie with Tigger even more. AWESOME! Thanks for sharing. :)

Love the Pictures, Tracy!!!

Janet, I can't wait to see your pics too! A girl's trip sounds like so much fun!

I hope there are deals for next Thanksgiving like there are for this year. I don't ever remember there being ANY discounts for that week, but this year there are at least 3! That would make my pickle much less of a pickle!

It was a very special trip for me, indeed. I am in such a funk right now, it's not even funny. :( The post vacation letdown really stinks. Thank heaven's for hubby's bonus and awesome parents, or this trip never would have happened. We are truly blessed.

I also find it strange that there are codes out for this Thanksgiving weekend. That's a busy time for them. Obviously, Disney knows what they are doing or they wouldn't have offered them. Fingers crossed for codes next year. :woohoo:

Hi Pickles!!!

Kathy, you are in the single digits now!!!
YAY!!!!

I saw you wave toward St Augustine Beach, Trace!

Great pics - cannot even begin to imagine how thrilled your friend must have been!

Halp!! I need an intervention!

After eating at Ohana's twice on our trip, (OMG YUM!) I fell in love with their appetizer salad. The dressing is out of this world. I mean, if I could drink the bottle of it each meal, I would. It is THAT GOOD. I hardly ate any of the meal because I was too busy stuffing my face with this salad.

Well, low and behold I found the recipe. I made a batch earlier this week and now all I eat is salad. I'm going to turn into letuce and field greens. Heck, I am going to turn green!! I can not stop.eating.this.stuff. It's pure heaven.

What shall I do, say you?

We have a new PICKLE. I definitely think you need to go to the Salad Devil and see if he can help you. If not, I would go to the Meat King and he can intervene.

HAHAHA!! I can't stop. It is so delicious.

And look at you and your countdown! Nothing beats the feeling you get when that plane lands and you see the palm trees out the window. :yay: Then, you enter the airport and walk down that corridor and see the Disney murals on the walls. Ahhhhhhh.

:scratchin I need to start planning...

Now you've got me wanting to try Ohanas--we've never been.

I'm about to go outside for our LAST warm day here in the windy city and try to get a little color before I hit the sunshine state. I can't wait--we so need to just get away.

The menu at Ohana's is:

- salad with sweet honey/lime dressing - I could have licked my plate.
- bread (I don't think you will like the butter - it has coconut in it) I loved it.
- ooey gooey chicken wings
- pork? pot stickers with dipping sauce - a spicy one, sweet and sour one, and peanut one (ick)
- a noodle dish with brocoli on the side (yum for the brocoli, but I didn't like the noodles) My BFF could have eaten a pot full of it.
- skewered meat out the wazoo. Pork, chicken, steak and garlic shrimp with a spicy kick to it. I found the pork on the tough side but had a nice flavour, but the chicken and steak were AMAZING. They marinate the steak for 3 days! So tender.) The shrimp was good (I love seafood) but after a couple, the spicy kick got to me and I lost patience in peeling them. heh
For dessert, they had a bread pudding served with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce. I can't remember the other dessert as I was too busy stuffing my face with the bread pudding. I think it was make your own sundae or something. I think that is everything. I'd eat there again for sure only they need to have a supply of wheelbarrows on hand for the glutons like myself. :teeth:

Enjoy your sun. It has been cloudy and rainy all week. I don't think the temperature went above 68. Eek! I don't want to lose my tan. I haven't had a tan in over 20 years!

I know that we just got back from a ten day trip a week ago, but man, what a letdown that you go through. It's awful. So depressing. Mark is not a total Disney freak like I am so he doesn't quite get the withdrawal. He told me I should take a solo trip. OMG, don't tempt me!! That would be fun for a few days but I imagine would be quite lonely the rest of the time. Why do I have to live so far away!!!

Hrm, guess I just wrote a novel. Oopsie.

Tracy - can I get the salad dressing recipe?? My sister in law just loved Ohana's salad! I liked it also, just not a vegie lover like her:)

I agree with you - Ohanas is wonderful! I love the spicy shrimp - and just about everything else.:thumbsup2

Your trip pics were great - I really glad you were able to go and surprise your BFF. A very special trip for you all.:goodvibes

Kathy - your trip is so close!! You must be flying high with anticipation!!!

Heather - let's try to get together soon - will try to call tommorrow. Its been very busy here, work, school and my mother in law and sister in law have been visiting. I was at the Disney store yesterday and remembered our shopping spree last year.:) Would love to get together!
