The rates in December this year are incredible! From free dining to room only discounts - I said to Mia just today that "Disney is practically giving the rooms away" (what I did not add is "and I can't go" :( )

And salt into the wound - FOUR pin codes!! Free dining WITH room discount, room discounts only....sigh....

Crab Legs :sad2:...horribly allergic...so more for the Pickles!

 Four PIN codes? Now, that's just cruel. Free dining with room discount? OMG. :scared1: /me faints

That's a great deal - when are the dates? Hey, dreams can come true, girl!

BTW, how long would it take you to drive? I have considered it too, just need to convince my crew on it:goodvibes

It's 27 hours to drive from where I live. I absolutely LOVE the drive to Florida.

You would be there just before the CRAZY Christmas crowds - perfect timing!

Remember what Walt said (or was it one of his imagineers?)
"If you can dream it, you can do it"!!!!!

Of course, if you were to drive, it's very possible to hit bad weather in both directions....no doubt you both are used to driving in that though...

It's a 10 hour drive from here...and it was 2 ngts from Boston...so how far from where you are, Trac?

WHAT!?!?! :scared1: :scared1: You are only a 10 hour drive from THE WORLD?!?! OMG. /me faints :faint:

If we were *that* close, we'd drive there every few months. LOL Roadtrip! :thumbsup2

And yes, we are very used to driving in every kind of weather. It's a 10 hour drive to Boston and 27 hour drive to Orlando.

If I could drive, it'd be hard to stop me too. ::yes:: Well, if I had someone to go with!

Hi again Pickles,
Well ... got distracted by work, go figure:)

I think my drive would be around 18 hours. Tracy - 27 hrs? or 37?? Yikes, now I see why you need 3 weeks.

Dec 12-19 would be perfect ... I can't pull Paul out of high school ... too many tests right before the holidays. Oh well - it sounds great for you Trac.

Christine, living as close as you do ... would be bad (or good whatever way you look at it) 'cause I would be wanting to go every other month!! I would invest in a AP then for sure.:cool1:

Uh... you expect me to remember where we ate?! Oh my Lord. We only ate at four table service restaurants. Sci Fi, 50's Primetime, Fulton's, and Planet Hollywood. The only two I liked foodwise were 50's and Fulton's. The other two were fun atmospheres but that's about it, for me, anyways. As I figured, we weren't all that hungry. We had 10 meals left and 18 snacks left from our QSDP the day before we left. We only used our mugs twice as the coffee tasted like swampbutt and we just kept getting bottled water as our beverages with meals since PM doesn't give bottled soda. Very odd set up. That said, we really disliked the PM. :sad2: Their menus had very few selections and they sure didn't serve a $25 steak and baked potato meal like someone previously mentioned. :confused3 All they served were french fries. Yuck. We seemed to wait forever for our meals to be prepared. Only one person preparing them while five or six of us stood in line. I ate about 5 chef salads. They were YUM. Their carrot cake? OMG, LOVE it! That's all I can say positive about the PM, unfortunately. Sorry to those who enjoy it.

We used the rest of our snack credits at Goofy's to bring stuff back for the kiddos. I wanted a candy apple so badly and they didn't have any. :( My thunderthighs didn't need it anyway.

I'm really really wanting to still be there right now. :sad1:

Unfortunately, PM has made a bad downward spiral since we were there in September. I've been reading more and more bad reviews and cutbacks on the menu. I seriously wonder if they are leaning towards turning it into a buffet as rumor has it. I know they've eliminated my fettucine which is very disappointing. I think Mark and I will skip it on our short trip.

I'm so glad you liked Fulton's. It is really one of our favorites. It is the first restaurant Mark ever took me to at Disney so it holds special memories as well and we've always had great food.

Are you going to post more pictures for us?

And how is your rash? And although you are important too, just as important right now is your mom. How is she? Any news?

I was truly disappointed as I got the impression from the boards that it was thee place to eat. Not much to choose from that's for sure. I think three pastas, if not two and the pizza at that station. We tried the baked penne. Hubby is a huge pasta fan and thought it was just okay. Never got to try the quesadillas as we were never there when they served lunch.

I will post pics as soon as I get them loaded. They're nothing spectacular, just the same old same old. The bulk loader doesn't work for me on photobucket and as a result, it takes over four hours to load about 100 pictures. Patience is not my virtue. It's been a rough week for me, mentally, so I've just been a lost puppy so to speak. The rash is gone as is the edema, amen. Nothing new to report on mom. She is tired.

I do have something to share though. I'm being a very sneaky girl and have a surprise for Mark's birthday next week. :) His mommy is coming to visit for two weeks! She will be here Saturday morning. I'm going to tell Mark that I am getting a few groceries and will come home with her. :yay: He is going to flip. He's been pretty bummed that we can't go visit next month as we were planning. So...she's coming here! :woohoo:
I liked 50's too...and would love to tru Fulton's. We weren't fans of sci-fi either. Planet hollywood is OK, I think, but we have a few around here, so I skip it in WDW.

That's so exciting about Mark's Mom! He will be so excited!
So I am adding to my misery and sitting here pricing out packages for next year. I've got Mark's christmas bonus all spent in my head. Suppose he'll mind? lol

I can score some awsome airline tix out of the US. Even cheaper if we drive to Boston. Hrm...oh mommmmmmmmy!!! ♫All I want for christmas is...♫ :rolleyes1
Cool!!!
And that's exactly what I had. Six great big honkin' King crab claws with drawn butter and red potatoes.

Drool.
mmmmm
Hey honey! It's for Dec 12-19. We would spend christmas with my folks in Largo. Of course, this is all in my dreams. ;)
I love Disney in Dec! The 19th is Chris's B-day..you could celebrate with Mickey for him!
This is still a great deal. Your plan should be to ask Mark AFTER you surprise him with the visit from Mom. How could he say no after that? :worship:

That's one smart Pickle!

Ok..I quoted a whole bunch more, but they didn't show up. Oh well...Happy Thursday, Pickles!

Janet, I had an AP twice - stupidly did not renew then had to buy it again...now I go back and forth as to if it's as good a deal as the 10 day non-expiring b/c if for some reason a guest is unable to visit more than expected, the AP expires whereas the 10 day is good forever...I have 4 days left on an 8 day non-expiring and it will not cost much to upgrade it to a 10 next visit (and considering it's been a yr with no visit in sight, good thing it wasn't an AP this yr!).

Although I would not want to be a DVC owner, they do get a sweet deal on AP's - save about $100 per person...wait, maybe more. I like staying in the resorts, rather then the Villas. Did that twice and it was nice, but felt too far away from the action, even at BWV - although that was definitely better than SSR -

Heather, oh queen of quotes... you go girl!! :worship: :worship:

What I really need to do is plan for next year. I wish there were deals out though. Would make things a lot easier to decide!

Too bad Disney trickles out the specials - would otherwise make it so much easier to plan! Although, all of Mia's pins, which came out from a few months ago to just this week (ugh..salt into the wound) are good through December 24th...so maybe Disney will have some out for Spring this winter..

Hey, Trac - wasn't there a bounce-back offer in your room? Often those can be booked a yr later! You could have held something, then decided later if it was the best deal - deposit must be made at time of booking, which must be done from the resort.

Which reminds me ~ Janet, you should have one in your room for next yr for free dining and a resort discount...you possibly have one for Spring!;)

I know what you mean ... at one time I almost bought a non exp. 10 PH Water pass from Undercover Tourist ... it was a great deal witht the water parks on it. Since I have been going during FD the last 2 visits, I buy my tix from Disney, since you have to buy the one day to get the deal.

Hey, thought out the DVC thing ... but the maintenance fees get in the way. Would love to try a villa (maybe not SSR, but the beach club or AKV would be sooo nice.:thumbsup2

BWV & BCV are great location wise..nothing like a stroll to/from EPCOT...then there is the new BLT (why do I always think of a sandwich??)..that could be fun...the new AKLV would be great....even WLV might be okay - though not very tropical. BCV and WLV do not have views, to speak of, at all. Sit on the balcony and stare at trees...not too charming. ;)

I get emails for last minute points rental (from very last minute to a few months ahead) from a very reliable renter...point cost is far, far less...but it is better to rent points from Sun to Thursday...nevertheless, with cheapo points, a weekend could be affordable.:thumbsup2

Anyone want the link to sign up/ Had a bunch throughout the Spring and early summer, but only one in the last few weeks..and most times for SSR or OKW, but sometimes (like the last one) other great resorts are included.

Still get ME and can add the dining plan at check-in (with 3 days notice). :teeth:

I was reading about the dlxdp - although thought it would be waay too much food, but the way some of the DISers used it, it sounded like it could be great...it is definitely more convenience than cost saving. But it would be nice to have it all pd in advance and have breakfast and supper every day, with just a snack needed in between.

Will youse guys stop it, please? I need a trip to plan!!! So sad...:sad1:

Trac - I think you will keep seeing them ... but I agree with Christine, probably not until until the current ones expire.

Thanks, Christine, I am going to look out for one. I found out the hard way 2 yrs ago and didn't realize about the bounceback until I got back!:sad2: I called to voice my opinion why Disney didn't put one in every room -- and to my surprise after talking to Guest Services, they gave me the deal even though I booked 3 days after my return. Must have been my sweet talking that did it:rolleyes1

Alright, here are some pictures that hubby took. In no particular order... I hope you like them!

There was, but only until the end of 2009. I was SO bummed about it. I definitely would have reserved over the March break again.

Sniff. We need to figure out this girls' trip and get you down there! popcorn::

OMG, OMG!!!! Toby just sent me a rainbow through you, Trac!! Tears....breath....tears...breath...OMG....thank you, thank you!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE these photos!! And of course, especially the one of you in the Goofy ears! :teeth:
