So, I will be arriving in a few weeks; for the first time in quite a while, I will have a vehicle. So....I feel like I am open to driving wherever, at least the first night.

For reference, I will be staying the first night at the Grand Floridian. I anticipate arriving around 8:30 pm, and plan to go straight to dinner before heading to the resort.

I've been trying to think of some places that I don't normally get to, places I've wanted to try, etc. I've narrowed it down to the following:

1) Frontera Cocina- I've never tried this place, because....well, I am kind of picky when it comes to Mexican food. But the Queso Fundido is calling my name. I doubt any of my family would ever want to go here, and I doubt I would ever come here for a full meal. But....a little late night nosh for some queso...maybe a drink......seems as good a time as any.

2) Rix Sports Bar & Grill- the Watchos have been on my radar for a long time now. I will also arrive just in time to catch some football, maybe some WNBA playoffs. Coronado Springs is just usually too far off the beaten path to be worth it, especially without a car. A couple of bonuses to this place: its proximity to Grand Floridian. It's a pretty easy drive. Also, they have electric vehicle charging stations, so that will be nice to hopefully be able to use while dining. The other bonus is.....I don't have to worry about driving through the Disney Springs traffic. I'm not too worried about the parking, thanks to the garages. But...having experienced the Disney Springs traffic via bus or Uber, I'd prefer not to drive through it myself. But, I don't really want to drive to GF, and then double back via bus, which would push things that much later.

3) Homecoming- yes, it will always be Homecoming to me. I have actually eaten here a number of times.....but brunch and take away sandwiches. But, never had dinner, so I still consider it in the "new" category. Again, this is as good a time to give it a try as any. And, it's food that I know I will like/love. The dings against it, like with Frontera, is just having to drive to Disney Springs. But, also, I have at least 2 other fried chicken dishes on my agenda for that weekend. So, in the interest of variety, I would tend to lean away from it. Yes, I know I can get something there other than fried chicken but.....I know myself. Haha.

4) Off property. I have my eye on a few places, but I am more than open to suggestions.

Thanks for your input!

I vote for Coronado. It’s so beautiful there at night! You’ll have no trouble parking there. I would walk outside to Rix.

Rix is a definite #1 pick. Just monorail and bus through there and back. Plenty of options to choose from for the picky eaters, including the nachos you desire.

I would go ahead and park my car at GF and walk over to Wailulu at the Poly. A relaxing evening to start the trip. You might even be able to catch the fireworks or the Electrical Water Pageant from an outside table.

I would go with one you don’t have to make a reservation or can make it through open table. I would stress me out with a late arrival and making a reservation. I don’t want to start my vacation with a no show fee.

We always go to Art Smiths Homecoming on our first night. We usually walk around Disney Springs and have a great 1st. night dinner there before tackling the parks the next day
