Hey, anyone been to Jellyrolls lately? A friend of mine just got back and said she is pretty sure there is a new piano player. She couldn't remember his name, but she was pretty sure she hadn't seen him before. Does anyone know if she is right? As much as it would be fun to hear another piano man, I couldn't imagine not seeing all my favorites!

Upcoming Piano Player Schedule per Jellyrolls Facebook page:

Wednesday* 3/2/11: Michael/Tommy, Ray/Johnny

Thursday* 3/3/11: Daniel/Johnny, Ray/Scotty

Friday* 3/4/11: Michael/Matt, Ray/Scotty

Saturday* 3/5/11: Michael/Matt, Daniel/Tommy

Yes, his name is Matt and he's been there for a couple months now. I still haven't had a chance to see him play, but hope to in early May!

what is the craziest song you requested that the piano guys actually played for you?

I have two!!! I asked them to play "Ballad of Billy the Kid" by Billy Joel. If you don't know the radio version, it's an amazing piano piece with awesome orchestral parts (the piano and orchestra duel in the radio version). Well that was a tall order but I think it was Micheal handled it well (this was forever ago - like 2005 or 2006 so I may be forgetting which piano man did it).

The other one was "Undercover Angel" and it was Ray who tackled it. He admitted that he didn't really know it but he did about half of the song without too much trouble. It was actually really funny ...

Both times the bar was pretty empty as it was early in the night. If you have an obscure song, that's the way to go - get there at about 8 and get the hard ones out of the way. Then they can do the fun stuff that everyone wants to hear and sing along with later on.

I love the piano men - they never disappoint!

Saw Matt play for the first time last Saturday night and he's really good! The first set he was very quiet with Michael doing most of the talking but I thought he had a great second set. Can't remember any songs that stood out, but enjoyed listening.

Thought he'd do well once he got over what appeared to be nervousness. Doesn't look like the the March schedule posted in this thread includes Mike (Scotty's cousin). I hope he's still around--he's a lost of fun to watch.

Mike Kilwein is still around, he's just not regularly posted on the schedule. On facebook this morning he is listed on the schedule to play tomorrow night. :goodvibes
