PI ID requirments

My DD's friend will turn 21 one week before their summer trip to WDW. In NY State when you turn 21 your new license comes in the mail. But you have a piece of paper stating you have renewed it. Will this be enough ID for her to purchase alcohol at Disney?

She'll need some sort of photo ID that lists her name and birthdate, I'm pretty sure.

Karen - she will still have the license, but it will have expired. In addition to that, there's a slip of paper that states she has renewed.

In that case she might be okay. I don't know that they care the license expired. The picture and the birthdate should be all that matters, but having the slip of paper should help. Hopefully someone else out here will have a definite answer for you.

An expired license showing the picture and age along with the slip of paper showing the license is "in the mail" so to speak works everywhere else, I don't see why it wouldn't work there. I mean they aren't DRIVING, so technically they don't have to have a valid driver's license- just proof of age. It proves age... it is just invalid to drive with without the slip of paper for the renewed license.
I don't think they should give her any problems at all. IMO

I am one of these cautious types.. probably being brought up by a policeman is the reason why... but if it were me, I would have my birth certificate with me as back up or a passport.. but that is me...

I agree with bringing back-up proof. When I was at PI several years ago a woman with an expired license was not permitted to get the over 21 wristband or whatever. She was definitely over 21 but for whatever reason they would not accept her expired license. I'm not sure if that is still the policy or if the fact that you have a card saying you renewed would make a difference. You could always call down to disney and I'm sure they could direct you to someone with an answer.

If you renew your license early enough, you should get it on your 21st birthday. I have used that sheet of paper with the expired license to get into casinos, but the license came really soon after that. In NY, just don't wait a long time to renew. I think I did it 2 weeks before my birthday and got the new license like 2 weeks after, but my other friends renewed like a month beforehand and got it almost on their birthdays.
