Pi Beta Alpha -- Hand over the purple and no one will get hurt.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to wish you all a.......

I'm going to make some shepherd's pie. I've never made it before, but I've always wanted to try it. I'm still not sure what green thing to serve. I'll probably make a green dessert or a green drink. I'll see. This whole thing is pretty new to my family and me. We've always worn green on St. Pat's day, but we've never really celebrated it. I thought it would be fun to try it out this year. :shamrock:

What are you guys doing for St. Patrick's day? Would you like to have a little celebration here on this thread?

:shamrock: Click here for a special St. Patrick's day quiz :shamrock:

What did you try there?
I liked the Cheddar Cheese soup but DFiance thought it was gross.. Yet this is coming from the man who only likes "Man Food"- cheeseburgers, wings, ribs, etc. He doesn't know what he's talking about. :rotfl:

This is what I tried:
Praline Bread Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce from New Orleans: Good!
Pastel de Choclo from Buenos Aires: Good!
Dulce de Leche from Santiago: Pretty good-- not the best but still good!
Creme Brulee Chocolat au Lait from France: Amazing!
Churro with chocolate sauce from Spain: Delicious!
Baklava from Turkey: I could've eaten 20 billion of these

As you can tell, we ate mostly desserts. :rolleyes1 We had just ate lunch and we aren't very adventurous when it comes to food so yeah.. desserts for us!

Well, I am still home sick today- Thankfully, I haven't passed out, I feel a bit stronger, but my stomach is still bothering me. Hopefully I will feel 100% better today! :cheer2: I can't afford to keep missing work- although it's been a nice mini-vacation.. :rolleyes1

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! :thumbsup2

We don't have anything planned.. we were going to go out to my pub but based on the stomach- I doubt we will. What is everyone else doing??

Have a great day everyone!!

Wow, guys, guys, guys! ;) Your co-workers should have told him that you already have a boyfriend. Why didn't they?

I have no idea. That's what I asked them. They said they weren't sure if I wanted them to. :confused3

Wow, you've had a VERY eventful weekend, Jenny! Geez, you're really on a roll. You should publish a book on how to attract men. It'll be a best-seller for sure! :thumbsup2 Well, I hope that the guy from you past understands and isn't too hurt. As for what was in the water..........Honu and I have joked that Mezzo Mix is the "elixir of love". Maybe these guys have been downing a few bottles. :lmao: Just kidding. Some girls just have that certain je ne sais quoi that men can't resist and you've obviously got it. Congrats! You're one of the lucky ones! :thumbsup2

The thing about G is, even though we were never really a couple, I always thought of him as the one that got away. The timing was always off. We could've been a great couple. But that's just it. Could have been. It's too late now. It just really threw me off that day.

I have no idea what I've got  It was an interesting day, to say the least.

Here are the places that I'd like to try based on the reviews that I've seen here on this board:

Ohana's (for breakfast, California Grill, Wolfgang Puck Express, Earl of Sandwich, Tangierine Cafe, Whispering Canyon (?), Chef Mickey's (for breakfast), Crystal Palace (I don't really care about the food....I just want to see Tigger!), Tusker House, Boma, Tutto Italia, Main Street Bakery, Beaches and Cream, Ghirardelli's, Biergarten (Soarin said it was really good), and Sci Fi (We were going to eat there on our last trip, be we had to cancel our ADR at the last minute.)

There may be a few other places, but I can't think of them right now. I had to type this from memory because I could find my list. I'd better find it before our next trip!!

Thank you! I've never been to any of those places except Sci-Fi. The atmosphere there is really cool but the food...not so much. Stick of appetizers if you ever go.

You can find the food booth list on this site or on allears.net. I printed out the food booth list before we left for our trip. Here's what we tried (FYI, we shared some dishes). No drinks, just food!

Monfongo - mashed yuca with pork cracklings and shrimp (Dominican Republic)

Causa de Cangrejo- yellow potato mash with crab salad (Peru)

Arroz con Pato - roast duck with cilantro rice (Peru)

Cheddar Cheese Soup (Canada)

Spanakopita- spinach and cheese pastry (Greece)

Greek Salad with Pita Bread (Greece)

Pecan Pie (Oklahoma - Route 66)

Kefta - grilled beef and hummus in a pita pocket (Morocco)

Crispy Sukiyaki Beef Roll (Japan)

California Sushi Roll (Japan)

Spicy Tuna Roll (Japan)

Cabbage Rolls with Spiced Beef (Poland)

Kielbasa and Potato Pierogies (Poland)

Lasagna al Forno (Italy)

Spaetzel with Creamy Mushroom Ragout (Germany)

Samosa with Tamarind Sauce - spicy pea and potato pastry (India)

Chilaquiles - baked torillas with chicken and cheese (Mexico)

Tomatican con Manchego - tomato, corn and garbanzo bean stew with manchego cheese (Chile)

Yeah......we had a REALLY good time at the F&W festival. :rolleyes1 There were a few other dishes that we wanted to try, but we were just too stuffed.

Wow! And yum! That's one of my favorite foods ever. I'm Polish so I'm lucky enough to have it a lot!

What are you guys doing for St. Patrick's day? Would you like to have a little celebration here on this thread?

Good luck making the Shepard's pie! I'm at work and since I have work tomorrow, I'm not planning on going out. But I will order a Reuben for lunch today!

That's news to me!

I love that it was from the N! Is there an old school Degrassi quiz on there? :rotfl:

Yum! Those sound so good! I wish that we could have eaten more desserts. The only dessert that we got to try was the pecan pie.

I'm glad that you're feeling a bit better. I hope that your stomach stops bothering you soon!

Uh.......OK.....:confused3

Yeah, I've read that the food at Sci-Fi isn't that great. We mostly wanted to go there for the atmosphere. The whole indoor drive-in theater thing is such a cool concept. Those tables that look like cars are so cute! We planned to just have dessert or some milkshakes or something while we were there. What did you eat when you were there?

Wow! And yum! That's one of my favorite foods ever. I'm Polish so I'm lucky enough to have it a lot!

Cool! I'll bet that you get to eat some really good homemade ones. :cloud9: The one at the festival was pretty good, but I know that they'd taste even better if they were homemade.

Good luck making the Shepard's pie! I'm at work and since I have work tomorrow, I'm not planning on going out. But I will order a Reuben for lunch today!

Thanks! :goodvibes I hope you enjoyed your Reuben!

I love that it was from the N! Is there an old school Degrassi quiz on there? :rotfl:

I got the same thing! And yes, the Degrassi quiz is on there. I saw that it was one of the featured quizzes just a few days ago.

Stop having a boring tuna, stop having a boring life!

Hi Tig! Glad you're here. Work is SO slow. I've been reading TRs for two hours!

Uh.......OK.....:confused3

Yeah. They said just incase I was interested. I don't know what kind of person these people think I am but that's not it.

I had the Spinach and Artichoke dip as an app which was pretty decent. Then I had the Shrimp Penne Pasta. They KILLED it with garlic. I like garlic but I was gagging on this, they put so much on.

I like the atmosphere but the only bad thing is that if you go with a group of people, you're not facing one another so you can't really talk unless you keep turning around.

Thanks! :goodvibes I hope you enjoyed your Reuben!

I didn't get to have one! :guilty: Nobody wanted to order out for lunch and this place only delivered when it was an order of over $10. So I ate steak terriyaki from our lunch truck guy instead.

I got the same thing! And yes, the Degrassi quiz is on there. I saw that it was one of the featured quizzes just a few days ago.

I think I saw that quiz! It had all the new Degrassi characters on it though and I had no idea who they were. I think it was 'Which Degrassi guy is right for you?' I so wanted Craig (see? cougar!) but I got Danny :confused3

Hi Tig! Glad you're here. Work is SO slow. I've been reading TRs for two hours!

Hey Jenny! Sorry to hear that it has been so slow at your workplace. Well, I guess that's better than being crazy busy. We should come up with anti-boredom activities for you. There are lots of fun things to do on the DIS, but I usually don't have the time to do them. We shall make a list!

Yeah. They said just incase I was interested. I don't know what kind of person these people think I am but that's not it.

:sad2: Well, good for you for being faithful to your boyfriend. We Unicorns may have an appreciation for hot guys, but we're still loyal to our guys!

I saw a picture of that spinach and artichoke dip. It looked pretty good. Some people said that they really liked the burgers, too. I don't know. Maybe we'll just stick to milkshakes.

Oh, by the way, I found something while I was looking for a cute St. Patrick's day graphic. I think that I may get this for next year. :lmao:

Of course, I say we're not busy and then I get a couple people! And now I have to leave it five minutes! At least the last hour went by fast. Usually it crawls.

:sad2: Well, good for you for being faithful to your boyfriend. We Unicorns may have an appreciation for hot guys, but we're still loyal to our guys!

True that! :thumbsup2

Steak teriyaki sounds good! How was it?

It was really good. You really can't beat that guy. He cooks the food right on his truck (he has a little grill and fryer inside!) and nothing is over $6.50!

That is super cute!

Hasta manana!

Hey Ladies!!

I feel so so so much better. I took a bath and ate some yogurt. :cheer2:

I will be going to school tomorrow, which I guess is good, but I loved having these 2 days off, although I've felt like death.

I hope everyone is having a Happy St. Patrick's day!

I'm glad you're feeling better Rora!

Happy Wednesday! I'm glad I only have today and tomorrow left of work. Then I have 4 glorious days off. I'm sure I will have a lot to catch up on the boards!

It's NKOTB weekend! I still don't know what time we're leaving that day, it's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from here. I think my sister wants to leave between 11 and 12. We'll probably get ready in the hotel room, get some dinner so we don't have to spend $10 on a hotdog in the arena, and pre-game a little bit.

Monday is my granny's birthday. We're having a family party for her on Sunday and then on Monday night DBf & I are taking her and my mom out for dinner at Maggiano's. That restaurant is amazing. Everything is served family style and it's a 4 course meal! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a fabulous day! If it's slow again, I'm going to research Disney restaurants and make a game plan of what parks I want to hit on what days and start planning. I will be doing a PTR sometime in the near future!

NKOTB! You must be so excited! Yeah, I am totally not a fan of an over priced hot dog. :cool2: :rolleyes1

Oh, I am so excited for your PTR!

My day has been pretty good- not feeling quite so sick, which is a plus!
School was okay today but I am happy it's over..

Calling All Bakers!:
My co-worker's birthday is Friday and she wants someone to make her something not too sweet, with some form of cheesecake-y flavor in it. Not too sweet? :confused3 I don't have time to make a cheesecake, but does anyone else have ideas? I'm totally pulling a blank! Thanks, Ladies!

They've built Hersheypark up a lot so I think there's a whole bunch of restaurants around where the arena is. I remember seeing a Red Robin nearby. I've never been there. Anyone?

I'll be sure to let this board know when I start the PTR. I'm in the midst of trying to figure out what days I'll be going to each park. It's hard because the schedule for September is not up yet and I know they've cutback on showings of Fantasmic. The only things I know I'm definitely going to be doing is 9/22 is MK day because of MNSSHP and 9/24 is the day we board the ship so we're getting breakfast first at Kona Cafe or Captain Cook's so DBf can try the tonga toast.

I'm not a baker but I'm sure Tig will be able to help you out! She seems to have recipes for everything!

I've never been to Hersheypark but I would love to go!

First of all, are you dressing up for MNSSHP?

BTW- you can board the ship early.. what is the time they say you can board? I believe they told us 2pm but we were on by 12. I guess it will be different for you because you are using Disney transportation and they probably won't take you earlier than what the boarding time calls for.. :confused3
Just thought I'd share, in case! :thumbsup2

So true!!

I've never been to Hersheypark but I would love to go!

It's gorgeous there! The little town is so cute, they have hershey kiss lamps on their main street!

I want to dress up for MNSSHP. I just don't know as what yet. I'll be asking for ideas as I go along.

Actually, we're driving down to FL so we're not going to need Disney transportation to the port. From what I've read, they start letting people board at 12 so I think we're going to go to breakfast around 9:30 and leave WDW by 10:30. I want to at least beat the buses there. I think most of them depart around 11:30.

What have you been up to today besides work?

Yeah I definitely want to have as much time on the ship as possible!

I have dark, shoulder length hair so I was thinking maybe Snow White or Belle. I was also thinking Hermione since I'm a big Harry Potter fan or Bella from Twilight because I've been told I look like her. But I don't think DBf will go for dressing up as Edward Cullen :rotfl:

Not much! There's only 2 of us here so it got pretty busy for awhile but now I don't have much of anything to do! JB's been wandering around. He's fake mad at me for calling him a smartass.

I'd be so cute if you were Bella and Edward but I don't think any DBf would go for that!! :rotfl:

I vote either a Princess and her prince OR Hermione! I don't know who DBf would be-- Harry Potter? Does DBf have red hair? If not, you should dye it and he should be Ron. :lmao:

:rolleyes1 JB's such a cutie  .

At least you had a little bit to do for awhile!

I'm going to run to pick my new glasses (not that ever really wear glasses- I'm a contacts kinda gal) and then go to dinner with DFiance and my parents. I hope everyone has a great day! Hopefully I will be on later! :grouphug:

He could be Harry cause he has dark hair. I don't think I could talk him into being Ron. Dumbledore's his favorite character so he'd probably go as him! :rotfl2: Or maybe Super Mario & Princess Daisy! That could work.

Have a good time at dinner!

Happy Wednesday, ladies!

Hey Ladies!!

I feel so so so much better. I took a bath and ate some yogurt. :cheer2:

Oooh, can't wait for your PTR! :cool1: If you need help planning, I still have the itinerary from our last trip. Have you seen the Disney food pictures (aka the food porn thread) on the Restaurant's board? If not, you should definitely check it out. It helped my family and I to choose where we wanted to eat.

My day has been pretty good- not feeling quite so sick, which is a plus!
School was okay today but I am happy it's over..

I'm glad you made it through the day! I was a little concerned when I read that you were going back to work already.

You get to go to Hershey Park? Lucky you! I've always wanted to go there. :hyper: I'll try to help you look for some restaurants nearby.

Yes, please let us know about your PTR! We'll definitely come along for the ride. As for the Tonga toast, have you considered going to Ohana's instead. A lot of DISers say that they prefer Ohana's over Kona Cafe.

I'm not a baker but I'm sure Tig will be able to help you out! She seems to have recipes for everything!

:rotfl: Well, almost! I can't stop collecting recipes. I think that it may be an obssession. (OK, fine, it IS an obssession.) Last year, I created a new folder in my email account just for the recipes that I email to myself. The folder currently has a little over 800 recipes. :rolleyes1 Let's not even get started on all the printed-out recipes, cookbooks and recipe magazines. :lmao:
