Not a problem at all:) Glad I could help!!!

The picture looks great! I love that quick selection tool! I would go crazy if I had to take a tool and outline everything free hand!!!!

I am interested in buying a new camera so I have been lurking on this board...

What a beautiful chair your son made!

thank you, i liked it so much he decided to make a second one for dad.and a table to go in between..

Great photos. Did you have Elements before? I have Elements 2.0 and wondering how much more 6.0 has over that.

I had downloaded the trial version of the Adobe CS3, but for the price.. i went yesterday and got the Adobe PSE 6 and it does have a lot in it... just going to take awhile to learn it all. :surfweb:

Here's a complicated method that I have used, but once I got the hang of it, I can do it pretty quickly now! Selective Colorization link

I don't know why, though, you'd want to pick a more complicated way!:rotfl: I haven't looked at the different methods to see if there's any difference in options, outcome, etc.

I got PE6 (on sale no less!) at Costco, and it also had the "OnOne" software inside as well (even though the box didn't say it). I borrowed several of the popular "how to books" from the library and have decided to go with Scott Kelby's manual; his PE6 version comes out in a few weeks.

Cool pictures, I think I'm ready to get some better software over the free Corel that came with my Dell. :thumbsup2

1) how does one "mask" off something that isn't wanted in a picture?

2) how does one make a picture all black and white except for the petals of a flower (for example)?

steps? tools? anything is appreciated.

thanks.
eric

guessing this is what you want to do..select the section you either want to keep ( then go to select and invert) or get rid of. go to layer>new adjustment layer>hue/sat, move to left to get rid of color.

you can only use masks in fill and adjustment layers( go to "layers" and you'll see those options) but i think you can download some freebies that give you more mask options ( check about.com, they have tons of pse info) but you use the brush tool and paint in black what you want to keep, white what you want to adjust and gray what you want to be transparent( lighter gray=more transparent) the black and white set in the little boxes way at the bottom of the tool list on the left, set them for black foreground white background)

Hi, Can someone let me know if Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 has the ability to remove/erase something from a photo to lets say clean it up??? Thanksss

I've been editing photos all morning using PSE6 and I assure you it does have that ability. :) (And I'm VERY thankful that is does ;) )

It really depends on how detailed the photo is. Somethings are very easy, other images can be more difficult. I've been using PSElements (4.0 then 6.0) for about 2 years. There are still things I don't understand, but for the most part, I have found it easy to use.

Hey there all-knowing Photography Dis-Boarders!

I've been using Photoshop Elements 4 for two years and have recently switched to Smugmug for photo housing. Woudn't you know that there is a 'quick upload to Smugmug' feature in Elements 6.0 that doesn't exist in my current 4.0.

That has me wondering if it is worth doing the upgrade are there other features in 6.0 that make it worth the $$ and for those of you who have...any words of caution?

Thanks All!

Jumping in to refrain starting another thread about Photoshop Elements 6.0. Hope you don't mind. :)

Does version 6.0 allow you to use actions on photos?

I upgraded from 4 to 6 at Christmas time. I'm glad I did it. If you shoot in RAW, the processor gives you several more options for tweaking your images. There are small differences, otherwise.

I don't think so, but please, someone correct me if I am wrong.
