I just got back from the surgeon's office where my temporary splint was removed and a more permanent cast was put on my broken leg and ankle. I asked the doctor if it was OK to photograph my ankle before he put on the cast. He gave me the go ahead, so I thought I would share the photos. The first two images are of me in my new green cast and of the xray that shows the hardware that has been holding my right ankle and leg together for the past 10 days. You may not want to look at the last two pictures as they are not at all pretty. In fact, the same could be said of the one of me on the couch, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Well, you were right, those images are well, um.. interesting. DH on the other hand, loves that stuff.

That does look like a nasty break on the X ray.. ouch!

Take care and I hope you are feeling better soon!

WOW! I've been lucky to have never broken a bone other than my little toe. I hope you're feeling better!!!

Is that 2 different incisions, one on each side of the leg? Looks like you have been in a lot of pain. I hope you'll be getting around soon.

YIKES, John! I hope your meds are controlling your pain. That looks like a very painful injury.

I think the x-ray is the scarier picture. Outside it looks like a nasty flesh wound but when you look at everything going on inside... all I can say is WOW.

Hope you are doing well and sending good thoughts your way.

Hey, those pictures bring back (no so fond)memories! We could almost be twins--Xray wise anyway! Actually, you have one more lag screw than me. I am very sympathetic! My best advice is to stay awake during the day so you can get some sleep at night, and rent all the movies you can!! Best wishes on your recovery. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and maybe I can help.

That first photo was just too much to bear.

:p

Wow, that looks like it has not been pleasant to say the least. Best wishes on your recovery.

OUCH!

Nice beard, by the way....:D I hope the healing is quick.

WOW!!! Impressive TC....I hope you repair quickly...

Nice job john, not sure anyone could have done better! Hope you heal quicker than the doctors anticipate.

Man! You must've really hit the ground hard! Are you sure you didn't jump out of a moving car or something? ;)

Hope you have a quick and painless recovery!

Nice pictures John. Love that DIS Green cast. Hope you heal quickly!

And when do we get to hear the sordid tale of how this all happened?!

Dude. Aere you ever going to set of the metal detector at the airport!

Oh yeah since no one else mentioned it - nice shirt!

YOWIE!!!

Hoping for a fast recovery for you!

A LIME green DIS cast.

What I want to know is did they take the skin staples out before they put on your cast?

I am a home physical therapist. Do you need me to come teach you to use your crutches.?

The pictures were not graphic at all, but than some people just can't handle thoes things. Hope you heal quickly and that you are not in too much pain.
