I know there is a post somewhere out there on this subject, but I didn't know how to properly narrow down the search and just couldn't find it....Sorry!

Anyway, can anyone tell me about the photos that are taken by the CMs who walk around the parks with a camera? They offer to take your pic, then I imagine you can purchase it someplace later? If you have it taken, do you have to buy it?

TIA!

I do not know anything about the CM's with the camera's whether or not they are professional photographers or not....but NO you do not have to buy a thing. They will take your photo, give you a ticket and at the end of your day at whatever Park you are at, you go to the place where you are to pick up the photo's....now once you remember to go...as so many times we are so tired at the end of the day we forget to go even look at the photos....anyway if you go, they will show you everything as it is all digital now. Then you can buy different packages and different frames if you want as well. Also, if you hit the pick-up spot after the photos are ready and you opt to purchase them IF you are staying in the WDW, they will ship them right over to your room, so you do not have to worry about carrying them all over the place and possibly beding them etc....nice little feature, I might add. BUT leave it to WDW, they do everything, in my opinion, fabulously!!! :Pinkbounc

There are photographers all over the park. You do not have to buy the pic if you do not like it. They now offer what is called photopass. It is a plastic card like a credit card... they will give you one the very first time you have your picture taken..Everytime you have your picture taken they will swipe the card saving your pictures to it.. then you can view the pictures online when you return home by putting in the numbers on your card and creating a free account at www.disneyphotopass.com You can also view and purchass you photos in all the parks normally an hour after you atke them if you dont want to wait until you get home. Some people recomend having the cm's take a pic with their camara also in case the pics are swipped wrong on your card ( which can happen every now amd again). ALso wright down the number on your photo pass card in your hotel or wallert etc that way if you lose the card you will still be able to view your pictures at home because you will have the number.

PHOTOPASS!...that's what I had read about! Thanks. Seems like a neat feature; we may have to do this one! :goodvibes

There is a chance for human error (card doesn't scan right, you get someone else's pics, they get yours, etc.) but as previously posted, if you also take your own pics at the same spots you can help avoid any potential disappointment.

We liked that Photopass was free until you decide to buy any prints -- at times our pictures were nicer, at times the Disney ones were better and we bought a few prints. With Photopass, the photog at AK had the kids pose like they were holding a baby -- when we got online after the trip, Disney had superimposed Simba into their arms. Very cool. You can also add dates and images to the pictures.
