Is photopass worth it if I preordered it? Our family first trip in May. I am planning on character meet n greets & lots of character meals. How does the photopass work? Do I seek out photographers & hand them a card? Do they take pics at character meals & Downtown Disney?

We didnt pre-order our photopass - but from reading the boards there seem to be some good deals in pre-ordering.

All the photographers have the cards to hand out - once you get one you simply hand it to any photographers round the parks and when you get home you can access all the pictures using the number on the back of the card.

Quick tip - take a pic of the code on the back with your own camera - then if you lose it you still have to code to enter when you get home

There are photographers throughout the parks at all the character meets (we didnt see any without but others may have had a different experience) and also at key picture areas - in front of the castle at MK, with Everest in the background at AK etc.

You are under no obligation to buy (preorder might be different) and are free to view the pics for I think a month?

IMHO, Photopass is SO worth it. Not only do you get great shots, but it's also a great way to get a photo of your whole family without having to bother other people to take it. Photopass photographers are all over the place. You just walk up and give them your card, and they take a bunch of pictures. You can then view the photos and order prints, cd, etc.
I preordered the cd, which saved me $50.

Photopass is so easy to use and so worth it for a preorder we did it last time. I don't believe they do any downtown disney however. But yes the just of it is you will go to a photographer the first time and say it's your first time, they will give you a card. And everytime after that you just hand your card to the photographer when you meet them. It's a very easy system, and we found it really worth it for when we did character meet and greets, as most characters have a photopass person with them. The people will also take photos of you and characters with your own personal camera if thats what you'd like.

We absolutely loved the photopass, there are people all over the parks, you will know people when you see them, as they all have large camera's and photopass logos on their clothes.

We preordered our CD last trip before we went and it was awesome we had easily over 100 plus photo's done. I would highly recomend it for anyone to do at least once. Especially if you are meeting a lot of the characters.

I have gotten the Photo Pass Cd the last couple of trips and I am so glad I did. There are pictures I would have never had of my kids if I hadn't ordered. I was taking pictures too at the character meets, but there were some shots that I had that were terrible and some that they had that were great.

I used photopass for the first time in December and really enjoyed it, I preordered so the price was a value, by the time I ended up editing the photos I think I had 250 photos on it.

I was disappointed with the photopass in one aspect, there were not photographers at the character meals which is the one reason that I had decided to do it. At Chef Mickeys (and probably others that I didn't dine at) we could have had our pictures "added to" our photopass that were done when entering the restaurant......once I had bought their pictures! That didn't interest me at all, over priced/oversized pictures, I only plan on printing out my photopass pics in 4x6 size to use for scrapbooking.

But there are plenty of photopass sites throughout the parks, we did many of them at all the parks, less at Epcot for some reason, they didn't seem as plentiful. It was nice to have all 3 of us in the pictures instead of someone missing as they manned the camera.

I doesn't cost you a thing to get a card (or 2 or 3) and take pictures, some of them are priceless. The cards can all be combined on one photopass. Buying it as a preorder worked out easily, and it has a guarantee that says if you can get a full refund.........so if I didn't like any of the pics or didn't take enough to warrent the expense then I could have gotten a refund.

Thank you all. I think that I will preorder the photopass, saving $50.
