Photopass Superthread!

Good to know. Thanks sgrap (and Figment). So I'll just get my PP+ as planned, and those who already ordered them and are wondering about refunds, they may want to think twice about that (because adding cute borders is the whole purpose of getting the PP+ to begin with) :D
One little interesting tidbit, at the end of our conversation, the photo pass cm I was talking to said to be sure and call back before our November trip, because they were always changing and adding new things. This made me wonder if they will be adding the editing option to the signature ap. Complete conjecture on my part, but I thought it was an interesting comment at the end of our conversation. She was a very pleasant and helpful cm.

Can anyone with a new AP confirm what the procedure is to get their photos? Do you grab a PP card from a PP photographer and then link them on the AP page? Or do you get the photographer to scan your AP card?

If I want to get photos that either myself or my wife has taken (depending if we split up with the girls), can we get two PP cards and link them both?

That is a very interesting question. We only plan on getting 1 Signature AP, so does that mean that whoever is going to be using the PP+ needs to carry around that person's AP card? That could be troublesome. We usually pass the PP+ card between my husband and myself depending on who is taking what kids on rides that have the photos. Hmmmm.

Also, are there cool 60th anniversary add-ons and borders on the PP+ site now? I love adding those to my pics, so not be able to do that for the 60th would definitely deter me from sending my PP+ back.

I just looked at my PhotoPass+ CD pack that I received, and there is NO VOUCHER to exchange. What should I do?

Just wanted to let you all know that I called Photopass people and (after holding FOOOOORRREEEVVVVEEERRR) they will be resending my exchange voucher. I had my order number and the agent verified my info and poof in the mail it is!

That's not so much a deterrent for me. I like to create my own photo books and my wife likes to scrapbook so for us additional borders and whatnots just get in the way.

If the procedure is to simply get a regular PP card from a photographer and link it, then that might work to allow someone with an AP to download for the whole family. I would be curious to see if anyone has done it in the last few days.

I'm trying to decide whether to send the one I already purchase back or not. I was told today they would refund the price if I send the voucher and activation code back.

Reg the AP w/ PP+:
This is confusing and frustrating. I guess I should be glad that we aren't going until next month so hopefully the details will get ironed out. I too received an email back from the PP people stating I can return the PP+ I pre-ordered (last Thursday) but it has to be received within 14 days...and I'm sure I will have to pay for the return shipping so I'm still out a bit of $$.

My main questions are:
Is it an actual PP+ card that the photographers scan, or the AP?
Do we have to do anything before the trip to "order" it?
Do we need to go to the Photo store to activate the PP+ just like when we pre-order?
Can pictures from regular PP cards be added to the PP+ (we too are planning on only 1 Signature AP) just like normal?
Can borders be added? (sounds like no so far...not a deal breaker for me...I really want it for the magic shots, ride photos, character meal photos, & bc I don't plan to lug around my DSLR camera on this trip).
Can you order the CD's of pictures, or is it download only?

I honestly feel like if it isn't the "full" PP+ package, then it is false advertising by Disney stating that the PP+ is included with the Signature AP.

I was told that I only had to return the voucher and the paperwork inside the DVD case with the activation code. So it will just be the cost of a regular stamp to send it back.

I'm very curious about the rest of your questions. I'm debating whether to send mine back or not.

Gotta love how people are being told differently...here's the quote from the email they sent:

"Absolutely! Once the order is received, you are welcome to return it for a full refund. Please note, the package must remain sealed for us to process a full refund."

I actually called and asked about this. She said it will have all the same features except getting the print package at the Character meals. Was on hold for 35 min for this info! Haha

Please, those of you who will be getting Signature level passes with the free photopass photo downloads, let us know how that works. Will it include borders and edited photos, etc.? I'm curious because in the past, when I've gotten free download files of photopass photos, they've only included the original picture, and not any edits. I was thinking of getting a photopass plus for the holidays (I'm going right before and right after the two week blockout) and was trying to decide whether to get a PPP or just upgrade my AP to Signature. Thx

I found this info on: http://www.mouseplanet.com/11179/Disneyland_Park_Update_for_October_511_2015

I am just copying and pasting from this site above:

There are three steps to accessing this benefit.

  1. Create your Disneyland.com account online at Disneyland.com/AP , or via the Disneyland mobile App. If using the mobile App., make sure you have the newest version - (v1.1).
  2. Take photos. There are now four ways to link the photos:
    • Have the PhotoPass photographer scan your physical annual pass
    • Have the PhotoPass photographer scan a new or existing PhotoPass card
    • If you use the Disneyland mobile App., you can have the PhotoPass photographer scan the barcode that displays in the App.
    • If you took a ride photo, write down the 8-digit photo ID that is shown on the photo preview
  3. View and download photos online. Once you get home, log in to your Disneyland.com account. Photos scanned to your annual pass or to the Disneyland mobile application should already be in your gallery. You can link any new PhotoPass cards or ride photo numbers. Then you can select the photos you like, and download them to your computer. Photos are archived for 365 days from the date taken, another major change to the offering.
As Disneyland extends this benefit to passholders, they have also increased the number of PhotoPass photographers in the parks, and added "roving" photographers who aren't necessarily tethered to a tripod. Roving photographers are in these locations:

Disneyland Park:

  • New Orleans Square
  • Frontierland
  • Fantasyland
  • Mickey's Towntown
  • Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • Splash Mountain
Disney California Adventure Park:

  • Buena Vista Street
  • Hollywood Land
  • Cars Land
  • Radiator Springs Racers
  • Grizzly River Run
  • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
With Disney charging $14.95 per photo for digital downloads, this new benefit offers big savings to passholders who regularly purchased the photos. If you never used PhotoPass before, there's no reason not to try it now if it's included with the pass. However, the new benefit is so rife for abuse and fraud that we expect it to be modified in the near future.

Consider this: there appear to be no restrictions to how many PhotoPass cards a Premier or Signature passholder can link to their account, nor any rules about whose photos you can link to your card. So long as the photos are tied to a PhotoPass card, and not another annual pass, there's nothing to prevent a Premier or Signature passholder from linking the photos to their account. Say you are a Signature passholder and your relatives are in town - there's nothing to prevent you from linking their PhotoPass cards to your account and then downloading all of their vacations photos for them for free.

That's the abuse part - passholders using their benefit for friends and family without financial consideration. The fraud comes in when someone decides to monetize the new benefit. There are companies—plural—who make a business of reselling dining reservations at Walt Disney World. Is it any stretch to imagine someone will set up shop offering PhotoPass downloads to non-passholders at a discount?

Disney probably has some computerized triggers in place to catch rampant fraud, but it's going to happen on a smaller scale now that some people have a way to get for free what others must pay $15 bucks a pop for. For now, enjoy your new benefit.

I am on the phone with the Photopass people currently. You are correct, no editing, adding borders, etc. with the Signature AP version. They say that is the only difference. They will refund your $ if you call and then send the voucher and the code back (you can keep the disc, this makes it much easier to mail). Call PhotoPass on 407 560 4300 Opt 3

This is another instance of CM's not on the same page. I was on hold for 35 min and got the opposite answer. She said borders, magic shots, etc are all included. The only thing that isn't is the print package at character meals.

@Nicolette11785 Thanks for the info, wonder why they aren't including the character meals? At least according to that CM....who contradicts the CM that @sgrap spoke to.

@sgrap - good info, would just feel better if that was somewhere on the official DISNEY website. And I agree about people abusing it. Just like people used to sell their unused days, or split days with someone else going to the park which forced Disney to start taking everyone's picture, I'm sure this will be abused. Though I wondering how difficult it would be to program it so that the pictures will only download if the date they were taken in the parks, the AP was ALSO scanned at the entrance gates. Seems like a rather "simple" safeguard for Disney to put in place. Also I like hearing that they are adding more photographers...hopefully they know what they are doing ;-)

Yes, we all are getting different info. The CM I spoke with checked with 2 different supervisors about her answer--which was the only difference was no editing. I agree it would be nice if an official Disney site put out the info. I'm concerned about abuse, too, although I am glad that I probably won't have to be handing my AP to my husband to get our PP+ pics.

What the heck is a Disney Premier AP? I don't see it listed??

ETA: Nevermind, I just realized that is likely the WDW/DL AP that is what, $1500? or close to it

Good find!
Interesting, it does not mention editing:

That is the one that was just eliminated . . . the Signature and Signature Plus took its place. But they are giving the PP+ downloads to them as well while people still have them.
