Photopass Superthread!

Hopefully we will be able to find more photographers, although we are doing 2 or 3 character breakfasts so that would more than make up for the price (and the dratted exchange rate at the moment). The ride photos are a big bonus as I wouldn't have bought those, and it's all an experience I guess.

We were very happy with PP+ and amount of photographers out and about on our 2012 holiday. Hopefully we will have just as good an experience this time around.

Ordered mine in evening of the 17 Jan and it arrived today 31 Jan. pretty good to Aus.

Hmmmm..... that's reassuring at least. We had run into czmom in the park who told us she had been looking for a PP photog in front of the night castle and finally asked only to be told they were only out on the weekend. Maybe I just missed them the other days.

Did you ever see one over by Small World Holiday?

No, but I wasn't looking for them either (didn't realize they were there) I think there was only one night that we were near Small World after dark.

So glad to have this thread and sure very informative.

I'm sure planning to get the photopass+ for our March visit. Our first park day will be 3/12, a Wednesday which we should have EMH at DCA. My question is if after we get inside before rope drop time, the Kingswell photo ship is open, then should I go get my photopass+ at that time? Or this is not wise and I should stay close to the rope to get ready to run to RSR. We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys. I just don't know how it is like inside before rope drop.

No - do not waste your time going to get the PP+ card first thing. If you end up getting pictures from a PP photographer, then later when you go to pick up your PP+ card you can get them transferred over to the PP+.

Ok got it. I should stay close to the rope and get ready to run to RSR with my family. LOL. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So once we are done with RSR, I should take a picture of our ride picture with the number. And then I will have to go back to the ride photo place later during the day to add my ride picture to the PP+ card? And to transfer pictures from PP photographer to PP+ card, we will do that at the Kingswell photo shop?

lol, yes, will do lots of running around, but IMO getting into the line for RSR is probably going to be best 1st thing on an EE day. If you have a smart phone just snap a picture of your family's ride photos and just make sure you return the same day to get it added to the PP+ card.. And yes, to transfer pics from the regular PP card the photog will hand you, you should be able to do that at the photo shop when you pick up your PP+ card (I think you can also do it online but I'm not 100% sure)

great thread! A few questions I'm hoping anyone can help me with.

Will I get hi-res copies of the photos if I went through and saved them as "8x10 prints"? Or do they need to be saved as "PhotoDownload (8x10 format)"?

Can I upload photos and make a calendar after all my photos are purged? I'd like to make a calendar someday, but don't have the time to look through my own photo collection to find good photos to use.

Thank you :)

if it helps...

You might be able to use your admission ticket as a photopass now. I think a cast member told me that last trip (dec 2013). Just ask them before they take the photos.

We always hand the photographers my annual pass that way we don't have to keep up with another card.

Just ordered my PP+ today, excited to actually be in more than 2 or 3 pictures with DS this trip!

My photopass hasn't arrived even though it was ordered on the 31st January and shipped the next day. We're leaving next week so I'm in a slight panic. Would a print out of my order details be OK if I don't have the voucher?

Cheers.

I ordered my PP+ 2/8 and it arrived yesterday 2/18. I'm in Arkansas.

If yours doesn't happen to arrive before you go, I would definitely try taking the email confirmation with you. But I don't know if it will work.

As long as you don't lose the PP card you can add the pics online later. In fact if you are travelling with others that may separate at times, they can each get a PP card. They just won't be able to use theirs for ride photos. But you can upload several (maybe infinite) PPs with your PP+ pics online before you order your CD.

Stayed up to phone PP plus and they said to just bring the email confirmation showing I had ordered and paid into a photo shop and they will sort it out when we arrive *phew*

What is the difference between ordering the CD vs doing the digital download?
Assuming I can put the pictures on a CD after I do the digital download, wouldn't that be better so that I dont have to wait for the CD to be mailed to me?

A lot of it depends on how you like to store your photos and how many you end up with. By the time we make edits and add borders, we usually end up with man hundreds. I really like having them delivered to me on a CD so I never have to clog up my computer downloading and storing them there.

I will say though that if DLR switches to the new Memory Maker system they have at WDW, you won't have a choice any longer. Digital download will be the only choice.

If I do the digital downloan..... couldn't I then add them to my own CD?
If I can make my own CD and have it done same day, why would I order a CD that I would have to wait for? Thats what I'm confused about. I get not wanting to clog up the computer. I already have probably a good 20,000+ :scared1: pictures being stored on mine.

Yes, you can. A lot of it for me has to do with sheer quantity. I probably had 6 or 7 hundred photopass shots (after edits and borders) on my last order. I wasn't in a huge hurry, and would never want to count how many photos are on my computer already. I have a 2 TB external drive that is almost full already. So to me it's just nice to get it, and put it with my collection of photopass CDs without having something else I had to do.

A few of us live in the sticks where high speed internet isn't nearly as fast as big cities. We run our internet on ancient cable wire not even CAT5. In the city you're dealing with fiber and really fast options. I do the CD too.

Ok great, thanks. We are using one PP+ for 2 families on our trip, so I wanted to make sure I could make my own CD's so I could give them their own copy.
