Maybe I missed something on the DIS somewhere, but when did PhotoPass start charging $2.00 for their standard shipping? I just ordered my CD with my October photos and used my Disney gift card to pay for it. The total was $61.95 instead of the $66.95 I was used to!!! I was shocked to see that the standard shipping was only going to be $2.00!!?? What happened to the $7.00 fee? Not that I am complaining in any way, obviously...but is this some sort of holiday promo for $5.00 off the regular price (I did not use a code of any kind)?

Anyway, I assume it is only for people within certain locations (in other words, not international orders), but I just wanted to let anyone know, who may have some PhotoPass pictures sitting in an account, that now may be the time to order to get the super cheap shipping.

What is the cost of the Photopass CD for Disneyland? Can you pre-order it?

Edit: Sorry, I asked because I was thinking about it after I read your post! I then went and found the information...for anyone else, it's $59.95...

This isn't a special offer, Disney's PhotoPass Service did indeed recently adjust the rate for standard shipping within the United States of Disney's PhotoCDs and Disney's PhotoMovies to $2.00.

Business units throughout Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, including Disney's PhotoPass Service, do routinely analyse their prices and adjust them upward or downward, according to market conditions.

i thought the same thing the other day, as in February it cost me $17 to post to Australia and when i ordered a cd earlier in the week, postage was only $10!

What are the benefits of Photopass? From what I understand, they take your pictures in the park..you go home, see the pic's online...then buy them (so Disney prints em out and ships certain ones to you, or you can buy a disc w/all of them)?

If you can see them online, why can't you just right-click save and print them yourself? Maybe I'm not getting something.

Disney's PhotoPass Service allows our Guests to enjoy their magical Disney Parks vacations and not have to worry about getting that perfect shot. Our Guests can spend more time making memories to last a lifetime, and less on recording them.

The Disney PhotoPass Service website does not display full resolution photographs and is set up to disable "right-click" downloading of photographs. Furthermore, the copyright on all Disney's PhotoPass Service photographs is held by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US, Inc.; which does reserve the right to initiate legal action against those who are found to have violated it (Copyright releases are included in many Disney's PhotoPass products, allowing our Guests who purchase them to reproduce the pictures elsewhere).

And even if you could figure out a way to save the screenshot or right click without right clicking, it's a low resolution picture which wouldn't be suitable for all that much!

Many people with a person who is the family's designated photographer love PP b/c the photographer of the family can be in the picture as well. For some, the cameras PP uses are better than theirs, and depending on the CM wielding the camera you can get pix better than you could have taken. If nothing else, the PP photogs are more familiar with the areas than the general tourist and might know a good way to frame a shot.

You can add borders to the pictures, and appropriate signatures for character pictures, etc etc.

The CD gives you the rights to those pictures and you can print them wherever you like (you get a sheet with official permission) for personal (non business) reasons, which is worth quite a bit IMO!

Yep, I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered my CD from my WDW/DLR trips in Sept/Oct. I went ahead and paid for the quicker shipping but it was nice to see the $2 price. I know from experience it only costs me $1.56 to mail a CD within the U.S. Guess Disney realized it too! :lmao:

I love using PP since I am usually the one taking the pictures.

As an added benefit I've become friends with a few of the PP photogs since I really started doing alot of PP in Sept. 08. I exchange emails with my favorite one and seach him out when I am there. (Shhh! don't tell anyone but he's Santa :santa: right now so not taking too many pictures) There are a few other ones I also look for while there. One of them took a picture of my DD earlier this year that earned him Photo of the day.

Sometimes, on days like today (Fri, the 18th) when the park is really crowded, it's hard to get alot of PP taken. But I can't wait until the holidays are over and my DD10 and I can return to DLR in Jan. and get alot of PP taken. The parks are almost empty and you can get some great PP taken. DD is off track all of January. :cloud9:

Well, good. I knew there must have been some sense in why they want us to buy the CD. I'm going to the parks tomorrow and will search for a PhotoPass photographer so my Dad and I can get our pics taken. :)

OMG with the holidays and so much going on this time of year, I missed the deadline to purchase my photopass CD. They expired on 14 Dec 09, is there any way to get them back? Please say yes we had over 300 photos and both of my boys were in the Jedi Training session outside of Stars Tours and got to battle Darth Vader.

Call them in the morning and see if they can restore them for you. (People have reported being able to do so) Then you can purchase a 7 day extension for $4.95. As long as you uploaded them to your account they should (hopefully) be able to do it for you.

Good luck!
