I couldn't find a dedicated PhotoPass thread, so forgive me if there is one somewhere that I missed. (Feel free to direct me there if it answers my questions and is less than a year old.)

Referencing the PhotoPass details on the website:
https://www.disneyaulani.com/activities/photography-services/

We are going to Aulani later this year and have some PhotoPass questions:
- Can we view and edit our photos whilst we are there? (Add borders, stickers, etc. on the PhotoPass website or at a kiosk.)
- What borders and fun things are available for Aulani-specific photos? (if anything, and would you mind posting a sample photo here?)
- Are there any 'magic' photos at Aulani? (like Tinker Bell in your hands in the parks)
- If you don't purchase the PhotoPass CD whilst at Aulani, can you edit the photos at home and have the CD shipped to you?
- Do you have to purchase your character meal photos before your dining reservation or can you add it after, once you've seen the photo(s)?

Many thanks! We're very excited for our trip. The information in this part of the DISboards has been invaluable.

Sorry, I can't answer your questions but I wanted to add that if you have an Annual Pass for WDW, photos are included as part of the PhotoPass download.

Enjoy your trip!

No Annual Pass here (I wish!). I thought of another question though - if we don't get the CD whilst at the resort can we download them instead of getting the CD? (International shipping for the CD is pricey.)

Or, if we buy the CD at the resort, can we still edit the photos for a certain number of days and download those when we get home?

Are you serious?? This is great news!!

I've seen buried in other threads some tips. apparently on the CD you can't get borders, but you may be able to do so online.

you will need to get your photos from the pool and auntie's BH added manually, so you'll need to remember roughly when/where you where, or a CM name. best to keep notes and go down and add them as you go.

I can't confirm this but will let you know after 6/26

And for runDisney events as well! We don't normally get AP but got one last year. Was able to get all my photos at Aulani and at Marathon Weekend. Now if they only added DCL photos... :)

It doesn't work for runDisney events at DL, so I was afraid to hope my WDW pass would work at Aulani. Super psyched! $100 I can use for some more souvies!

Here are the Aulani photo borders:

There are also stickers to match the last 3 borders.

It took the full 24 hours after photos were taken for them to pop up in my MDE app or appear on the photopass website. (I had to manually type in the photopass card number they gave me to link in MDE)

It's been mentioned on other photopass threads so I am repeating it here - I don't know how much truth there is in this but it certainly won't hurt anyone to be mindful: while it is awesome to share the news of Aulani photopass being included on WDW AP memory maker with our Dis friends, maybe just be discreet about it at Aulani. It's not clear how much the Aulani cast knows about this perk and we don't want it to go away! It's not like we are breaking any rules - the Disney photopass website forces me to WDW photos when I try to log in for Aulani, so it's not like I could buy the Aulani online downloads if I even wanted to. Still, since Disney isn't advertising this perk I have to imagine it's one of those loopholes that will eventually close and I'd hate to be one who hastened that happening.

I love the borders! Thanks for posting them for me. As long as America still lets me bring my laptop on the plane (there are rumours of banning them on all international flights), I will have mine with me to try and add borders before we get the CD. Unless you can edit them at a kiosk at Aulani... That would be ideal.

Still wondering about magic photos - my husband tries to get them weherever we go.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing this. Great smiles, by the way!

We went to the store/gift shop to review the photos. CM's helped us look for photos from snorkeling, character buffets, Auntie's, other events, etc. Took quite a while. They added other general Aulani photos per our requests. Our 100+ original photos turned into over 400! A great value!

We only took advantage of the photopass photographers out on the beach at sunset but we were not offered any magic shots. We definitely had over 100 pictures just from 3 nights of sunset photos! Thanks for the kind words about our smiles - we got engaged that day so the smiles were extra happy :)

I don't think they have magic shots. Also, there are literally 2 kiosks at Aulani. Yes two. So adding borders etc may be impossible. Many times when I went to add photos, they only had one screen open. A CM has to operate it with you, so it takes forever. Maybe it's changed, but that's how it was last June.

Is it worth booking a private family photo pass session at sunset or are there plenty of photographers to spend time on the beach at sunset taking family pictures? Thank you!

I think it depends on your goals. Do you just want a handful of nice photos for your memory book/holiday card or do you have a specific pose and amount of light in mind? If you want a very certain photo, I'd book the sunset photographer. For us, the photopass folks worked fine. There were 3-4 photographers out on the grass and beach in different places every night and we'd just rotate through all of them to get as many photos as possible. After we viewed the photos from the first night we learned that we disliked certain poses so we were able to tell the photographers on the subsequent nights "no we really don't look great in this pose" or suggest what we were looking for. They were super accomodating and helpful! Of course there were plenty of unflattering, out of focus, and poorly lit shots as well, but with over a hundred options to choose from, we have probably dozens of good ones.
