Photopass - Pre purchase or not?

Just ordered mine this morning as the rate is nearly $1.65 :goodvibes

I knew I shouldn't have paid the cruise so early, would have saved £25 paying now. Would be nice to keep at $1.65 over the summer:woohoo:

I hope so - we have 4 nights at the Contemporary booked in September and I keep wondering about paying off a bit more. However I think I will chance it a bit longer and if it starts to slide pay it then.

Rather than the code you used to get they put a credit straight in your cart.

They emailed us a code as far as I know, went to Karen's email address, she forward them to me last night but I just saved them until we return in August, never read them. Checked account, nothing on there.:confused3

Im thinking about getting this for our trip in October as there will be 7 of us going so it would work out quite cheap.

What happens about printing the photos though? Once you have purchased the CD can you get photos printed at boots etc? Or do you have to still get them through Disney?

our e-mail said that a credit had been placed in our cart and when we have finished editing our photos we add the cd to our cart and the credit will automatically activate. It said this credit has no expiry date and will remain on the account until we complete the order.

Just have to keep those e-mails safe now so that I don't forget what to do!

The Cd's come with a release to allow you to copy/print for your own use. Here is the wording from their site:

"Disney's PhotoCD comes with a limited license agreement which grants permission to reproduce the photos on the disk for personal use only. The copyright agreement is stored on the CD itself and is located in the main directory. Instructions on how to access this file are located on the back of the CD case. You must present this agreement to your photo retailer when you create prints of your Disney's PhotoPass photos."

We just print the ones we want using an online service - photobox.

That said still haven't printed out our Oct 2010 trip yet!

Photobox is great and their customer service is superb. :thumbsup2

Oh no! You need to get printing then! I can't not print - I love my albums.:)

We have pre-ordered the cd the last 2 trips and again for this one.

I think we collected about 10 photopass cards as kids wanted their own wrist cards at the waterparks and SIL who arrived just after us did a photopass share :)

Do they do a photo pass opportunity at Summit Plumit? DD2wants to know:confused:

Just ordered mine for our honeymoon in August....so now do i just wait till we go, then get a card with code on when we have pictures taken, and then view and order them when we get home? x

Thats right just pick up a photopass card when you get there and get as many pics as you want, enter the card number into your account on return.

Just to add to what Wayne said, you can also view them at the parks while you are there. I wouldn't add them to my Photopass account until I got home as you may want to take your time editing them (and believe me, it can take a long time once you get going with it!) and you have 30 days from the day you add the card to the account, unless you pay for an extension for extra time.

I have a habit of taking our photopass card into one of the camera/photo centres in the parks at least every other day. Occasionally you get some pics with someone's eyes closed or just not a great shot and it gives you the opportunity to see it and to get another few taken next time you are there.

To me, it was worth pre-purchasing last year

First of all, we definitley put more effort into looking out for the photographers so we had loads of photos on our CDs

You can't beat the online offer. There are no discounts, at least not to date, which come close to rivalling the pre purchase offer.

If you really don't like the photos, you can email them BEFORE you put the CD in your basket after your trip and ask for a refund.

When you pre purchase on the site, you will be given Photopass CD credit in your account.

You can collect it there, but you won't have the option of adding the borders which kind of defeats the purpose to me.

Shipping was $10.95 to the UK and I had 5 discs, so it seemed to be a flat rate regardless of how many CD's your pics were on.

It is no different to purchasing the CD normally, just when you get to check out it will deduct the cost and only add the shipping, which is all you pay.

I consider myself to be a relatively intelligent person, but for some reason I still cannot totally figure out the preordered photopass deal. Heres the question I have: when we arrive back home, before we decide whether to get a refund on our photopass, are we allowed to view the photos taken? Does this make sense? I won't know if I want to keep the $99 deal until I see the photos taken.

Yes. It's like looking at something inside a shop - you can put it back at any time but if you take it out, you have to pay. So you can view and edit your photos but as long as you don't actually proceed through the checkout which will then use your credit and load the product for processing, you can change your mind at any time. I have never done a refund with Disney but I have heard it can take quite a while. However if you have a considerable number of photos taken while there it is unlikely that you won't order it.

Thanks for the description. I finally get it.

so if i pre purchase it before i go, i then get a card when we get there, get loads of photos, then when i get home i go on the site and add borders etc and then add the cd to my basket and then checkout and just pay about 10 dollars delivery (as i have already paid for the cd before i go)? But if i am not too fused about the borders then i can collect the cd before we leave on the last day? how long does it take for the cd to arrive after ordering online? sorry for all the q's but we have always just brought the cd before leaving the park on our last day as i thought this was the only way it could be done!!! but as the pre pay is cheaper and you get to play with the borders etc it seems the best way

found this thread when i searched for a thread on photopass - figured there would be something about prepaying and buying onsite..

we've done photopass all of our recent trips, but never prepaid...
but it seems silly not to do it, given the discount..

but i'm still not sure about having the CD shipped to us..
we've always bought it on our last day....somehow i like having that CD in my hand luggage....i don't entirely trust the postal service....and not computers and the internet either for that matter (as in, what happens if all the pictures somehow 'get lost')..

Random question of the day re:Photopass.

We never use this, we're both photo-phobes (of ourselves at any rate, I take lots of pictures, just never in them myself :p) so Photopass is a non-starter for us.

However, being my birthday while out there I got a birthday card from Mr Mouse with an attached Photopass. Reading the small print it says:-

"To help you celebrate, save 20% on any one order at Disneyphotopass.com (excluding the purchase of any Disney's PhotoCD). Enter the ID above..." blah blah blah.

1) is this a good deal in the grand scheme of things or should I just toss and

2) if this is a good deal, can anyone here give it a good home? I actually have a few (2 from this year for my birthday as we switched resorts and so I got 2 birthday cards and pretty sure I got 2 last year stashed somewhere from him indoors birthday card and an anniversary card - there's no expiry mentioned on the cards bar the 30 day photo expiry on the website so assuming I can find them should still be valid.) and happy to spread the love if someone can make use of them as wasted on us.
