Photopass poses - The cheesier the better!

Thanks!:goodvibes Except those darn PP photographers keep snapping me when my eyes are closed or in the process of closing. Somehow, we are not getting our timing right, and I keep blinking at the moment they are snapping!

Me too! If I think my eyes are closed I ask them to take it again. Recently on some of our pix I have cut and pasted in open eyes on ones where someone's eyes are shut. Since they usually take 2-3 pix rapidly I can usually get at all of us with open eyes that way.

It seems to me that I recall reading some info about PhotoPass on some website. Maybe it was www.Stitchkingdom.com? Not sure. In any case, I think the PP photographers use their own cameras, not cameras issued by Disney. I could be wrong, but I think that's what I read. And I know I read that not all of the PP photographers are professionals. Some of them may be, but others are photography students and some are not even students. Some may just have an interest in photography! So really, almost anyone could get out there and start snapping!!! Some of them probably get cameras that are not as great as others and if you combine that with someone who is just kind of learning to take a decent picture and doesn't really know a lot of the tricks, then you come out with the blurry, the whitewashed, the overly dark, the poorly framed, the too-far-away shots, etc.

There is definitely a difference in quality-some PP photogs are much better. I know of 2-3 who take great pix most of the time. I've had several recently we should have used flash fill and didn't. (in the shade, light directly behind us, etc.) Pictures came out dark-I'm hoping I can fix them with Photoshop. From now on when we get our pix taken in shadow or dappled shadow I'm going to ask them to use their flash. We'll see what happens. BTW the cameras are all the same, Disney issue, they do however each have names (John Smith, Capt. Jack, etc.) so the photogs can grab the right one.

The pix I have the most problem with are the night shots. So often the icon (castle, etc.) behind us in focus while we are blurry-and that's even if we don't move. :confused3

Even if some of the shots don't come out great (at least in the ones I take), I still think the whole PhotoPass process of taking pictures is a lot of fun, and as I said before, if it gets my uptight friends to loosen up and act silly and free, then it's worth it - because they won't act that way if I pull out a camera and ask them to. But they will do it for the 'official' PP photographers! I wish we could get this thread moved into Sticky status. It would be so much easier for newer people who are taking PP pictures to see the thread and post them on here. Otherwise, it fades into the archives and a lot of new PhotoPass people don't even know it exists!

I agree it's fun. :cheer2: I've even taken some of the PP ideas and used them myself. Pix come out great! I too wish this thread was made stickly.

I will have some more PP to post in mid Feb. Got some great shots again (my fav. photog:goodvibes did it again)

Here's one I took of DD9 using an idea I saw of ones take behind a lamp posts. I think it came out cute. I'm taking as man pix of possible in DCA of the things that will be leaving soon.

That picture IS cute, Dizneydaz! She looks so cute in her little glasses!

Oh, and you are right about the cameras they use. I just checked the Stitchkingdom website again, and maybe they changed their info since when I looked at it a while back, or maybe I just didn't see this part of the text, but it says the PhotoPass people all use the Nikon D70, and they are attempting to phase in the D80. So it is a quality camera - and we have all seen the amazing, awesome pictures Jasmine has taken with her D40 and posted around the DIS. But Jasmine knows what she is doing and how to get the best picture from her camera. Some of the PP people have the right equipment but don't know how to get the best shots, I guess!

Yes, I don't know what it is with the PP pictures and why they keep snapping me when I am in mid-blink. The photographers don't see to notice it, and I guess I am not realizing that they snap when my eyes are closing, so I end up looking like I either have very squinty eyes or like one eye is squinty and the other one isn't!!:rotfl2: But when I walk around in daily life and look in the mirror, I don't see squinty eyes or one squinty eye or whatever!! My eyes look normal! Somehow this seems to be a PhotoPass-specific phenomenon that occurs for me!!! But I don't mind posting the ones where I or my friends look silly or have weird eyes - it adds to the funny factor of the pictures!!

Hi all, I got my new PP CD yesterday so I have more to post from Dec./Jan/Feb. Here's a few:

image029.jpg

Standard Stitch shot but I didn't know (until I saw it on this thread) that you could get him by the waterfall. I just noticed I put the wrong year on this one-guess I'll have to fix with Photoshop.

DD9, DM, and me. Our last visit before the holidays.--------------Unlike Sherry, we didn't get the Stitch in the box, but I did use the picture the PP took with my own camera for our Christmas card. :goodvibes

Just one of the photos taken on one of our best days-Jan. 7th, first visit after the holidays. Our favorite PP photog was in Town Square and got some great, and different shots. ;)

Here's DD being the Christmas tree. :rotfl2:

And yes, before you ask, sometimes I do make sure that DD's and my outfits go together.

this is my favorite from our trip last year

image046.jpg

That's adorable! Perfect for Valentine's Day! (I wonder if PhotoPass has guests do any extra cute things in pictures on Valentine's Day??) However, I must admit, I am so used to seeing a giant pumpkin or a giant Christmas tree in that spot where you guys are standing that I feel the need to put something tall there! I have to keep reminding myself that this is the way DL looks the entire rest of the year, when it's not Halloween or Christmas. I feel like I want to stick a great big heart there tomorrow, and then a great big bunny or egg or basket around Easter, and a giant 4-leaf clover on St. Patrick's Day!

This is me with my sister and nephew. He wasn't feeling the posing groove and was there not by his choosing.

But after taking a couple photos he started hamming it up and star in his own show.

You're lucky - at least in your Small World Holiday pictures, you didn't have tooooo many people in the shot behind you. If you look at my version of that same photo from a page or two back, you will notice my situation was much different. You almost got a clear shot with no people. I didn't have such luck. And we had to wait for someone with their giant, honkin' Mickey balloon to move out of the way so that it didn't obstruct the view! Meanwhile, there were already 1000 people in the picture, obstructing the view!

The only "staged" photopass picture I have....all the rest were just nice family poses.

image036.jpg

Here are some "fun with trains" ones.

image486.jpg

The PP taking this picture was in training (I think) He said he'd never shot at this location before. He had a more experienced PP photog with him. He told us we should come back after dark (it was twilight in our shot) to get a nicer picture but since DCA closed in about an hour and we were "crossing over" we didn't make it back. Maybe another time?;)

image235.jpg

Here we are "running" to catch the train.:rotfl2: (Original shot)
PPrunningfortrain235corrected.jpg

This was corrected in Photoshop-looks better, I think

image237.jpg

And finally here's DD9 pretending to being hit by the train (her idea) :rotfl:

Notice that the last 2 shots were taken at the same place, same PP photog. Difference in first is the sun was shining into the camera. She needed to flash fill us. :confused3 I'm going to try to fix through Photoshop. ADDED-see 2 pix. I corrected 2nd one. :wizard: Now to add the logo....

Great picture MommywithDreams!

Fun shots dezimber! Your pix point out what I've found with alot of mine taken at night. The background is more in focus than the people. I wish PP would place the emphasis (and focus) on the guests.

OMG! OMG! OMG!!! Look, everybody! We made sticky status!!! Finally, we are an official STICKY!! Yay!!! It will be so easy to find us now!!! Yay! Thank you, Judy or Sticky Fairy or whomever handles such things!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :yay:

Here are more of ours from last years trip....

I love that you got Donald and Max in PP pictures!!!! And, you are someone - yet another person - whose Hook picture came out......unlike mine.:sad2: I see what you mean about the busy shirt - Tink kind of gets lost in it!

My son didn't get the "you're fighting Hook" look. He just stood there smiling pretty. LOL We told him to make a mean face and he couldn't :rotfl: You put a camera in front of his face and he smiles.

At least your Hook came out! You will notice in my 'Hook picture' (can't remember what page it's on, but it's somewhere on this thread), I am dueling with NOBODY! Due to technical difficulties, my Hook didn't come out in my picture, so I just look like a crazy person dueling with my imaginary friend!!

I know what you mean about your son not 'getting' the expression or pose he was supposed to do for that shot. He is young, so he can be forgiven. I was saying in my earlier posts on this thread that my adult friend (who is in 98% of the pictures I posted here) could never quite fully let herself "look scared" when they told us to look scared, or really 'get into' her role that the PP photographer asked us to play. She was always trying to smile or pose nicely while I was really making a fool of myself and making ridiculous faces and playing my part. A method actress, if you will!!:lmao: :lmao: I think my friend was afraid to really let go because she worries that people are looking at her and thinking she is nuts. Well, if she were stopping in the middle of the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard or in the middle of the bank and "looking scared" or pointing at the ground or in the air and "looking surprised," yes, people would think she is a loony tune and would have her committed right away!!:lmao: But in Disneyland, where lots of people are taking wacky pictures with PhotoPass people and without, nobody cares. If anything, people watch you pose and take your pictures because they want to take PP pictures too and they want to see what poses they can do in their own photos. People watch you and see that you are having fun with one of the really fun photographers and they want to do it too. They aren't thinking we are crazy, but my friend can't let loose!

Sherry, sorry I'm a little late getting back to this but am pretty sure that picture was taken after midnight. We get to our motel room until after 2:30 am. If we had driven home we would have been home around 3:30 am. It was pretty deserted despite the very long line for IASW which was 2x longer then when we went that mornng.

You mean the Photopass photographer was still out in front of IASW after midnight??! Wow! I know the PP photographers are not thrilled with that IASW location, either because UNLESS they are there after hours it is impossible to get a clear, uncluttered picture in front of IASW Holiday. There are just too many people milling about. The guy who took my pictures hinted to our group waiting our turn that Disney COULD give them a slightly better vantage point from which to shoot, so the masses of people waiting in line wouldn't be in the way as much (as they are in my pictures), but Disney won't let them set up in a better spot, or maybe on a higher platform of some kind and would rather that the PP photographers not even set up at IASW Holiday at all. Apparently, Disney and the Photopass people have been going back and forth on this issue. But clearly, when IASW is so beautiful like that during the holidays, people will want PP pictures, so the photographers go there anyway and set up in a horrible location because they have no other choice.

Oh, and by the way, when we rode IASW in the morning, it was during our MM hour, so we were literally the only ones on our boat and there was no line of any kind, at all. When we went back at night, the line was so long it was almost into Toontown. Crazy.
