Photopass Plus... worth it?

Hey, all!

I'm seriously considering shelling out the $149 (the 14-days-or-more-in-advance-rate) for Photopass Plus on my family’s upcoming trip, especially since it'll be mom and dad's 50th anniversary and I want them to have nice pics to remember it by. (A few years ago, we actually hired a photopass photographer to do a whole photoshoot at the Poly... one of the best decisions I ever made!)

I have plenty of time to make the decision, so I thought I'd ask y'all — you know, the experts — for opinions.

Worth it?

Not worth it?

Pros and cons?

As always, thanks for the feedback!

You need to decide if you'll make use of all you can get with the package. Are you doing character meals, meet and greets, ride photos? We did many of the ones that were included so it was worth it to us.

The photopass+ includes the ride photos. Does that mean we would get the photos on site and also on the cd? Or does it mean the photos would be on the cd and then I'd have to pay to have them printed out when I get home?

Thanks!

You don't get the printed photos at the parks. You only get them on the CD (or download if you prefer) and they come with a release that allows you to print them.

  • On-ride photos included in the PhotoPass+ package at Walt Disney World are: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur.
  • Character dining locations included in the PhotoPass+ package at Walt Disney World are: 1900 Park Fare, Ohana (breakfast), Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Chef Mickey’s, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Tusker House Restaurant (breakfast), Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.

If you like ride photos and are sort of interested in Photopass I'd order PP+. The ride photos are $15 so if you got one at each ride and a few other regular photopass op photos it's worth it.

You don't get the ride photo prints. You do, however, get the character meal photo print packages. And you get them on the CD.

And then you get the photo release, so you can have pictures printed wherever you want.

I really think it depends on who you ask. For some, it's a great deal and they wouldn't miss it for the world. For others, like me, meh--just not that thrilled or excited about it.

For the first time in many years, I'm purchasing the regular PP photos from our trip. I think we had 125 shots. I like the borders, etc. so decided to go for it.

We're the people holding our cameras up on the ride photos and never pay for them, so the ride photo thing doesn't matter to me.

Keep in mind, some of the PP photos are just crap. I mean literally, horrible. Always have them take the shot with your own camera too. Mine came out much better than many of the "pro" shots. And most of the helpers at the character photo ops--forget about it. Half the character cut off, completely blurry, etc. It became a joke with us. I would check the photo, then ask them to re-take it if it was truly bad. They were very nice about it.

Osborne Family Lights is a tricky shot. Our PP photos are super blurry. I mean really? You would think they would know how to get those shots. The ones from our own camera are crisp, sharp and perfect.

I'm curious about the ride photos. If you have PhotoPass Plus, how do you go about getting the photos? Is it basically the same as if you were buying the rprints... you go to the little counter and they load it on?

Thanks, as always!

Yes, they pull up the shot like you were buying it and then they scan your card.

Do it! I wish I had! I just got back today. I went on a few rides with my son and both my hubby and I wish we had the ride photos bc they turned out great!!! It woukd have been worth it bc we'd love to have those 3 photos and for the extra $20 we could have had those and a few others. Next time I'll definitely spring for it. DO it and take advantage of it. Ask for magic shots. get your ride photos, make sure to get the character meet n greet photos- if you pay for it, do it right and get your money's worth, even if you only have the regular photo pass. Take the extra 5 to 10 mins and ask for the pro photos. I did and I am so glad I did!!!(Especially since my camera died 3 days in and I lost my phone camera at least twice! haha) :dance3:

We just ordered ours. It's only $30 more than the regular photopass and we have Tusker House and Ohana ressies. So we'll come out ahead either way.
