Photopass on Magic

why wouldn't they want you to stack the pictures?

The people who work there are often moving pictures to make room for new ones, also straightening up the place after 1000 people go through picking up pictures and stuffing them back sometimes in the wrong place.
They don't have time to sort through photos that are stacked to see that it's the same family (extended family, friends, etc.) to know that they are travel mates so their job is easier to keep the place tidy by not stacking.

This isn't just with Shutters. At least 2 other cruise lines I've been on don't want people to stack them.

I think they also want people to buy the packages, so if they can encourage the purchase early on, more sales for them. The packages are refundable, so if you get the 8x10 package (i.e. 5 for $85) and by the end of the cruise don't have 5 you like, you can just purchase the ones you want and they refund the remainder... Not sure if that is new (the refund) but seem a bit more cruiser friendly.

Also, I have to say that the blonde woman photographer is awesome. She did some great shots of our family and is really good setting up and getting the kids to smile and all. Highly recommend her if you see any of the portraits she is doing!

This is good to know. I was wondering if they would refund your money if you bought one of the packages and couldn't come up with enough pictures that you liked. Thank you.

I hope this is up and working by our cruise on dec. 13. hopefully the people just getting off the ship will keep us updated. :thumbsup2

Totally agree about the blond photography. I thought she was great! Very friendly.

OK, just got back from the Magic on the week they were piloting the photopass thing. NO, there was no option to buy a CD yet. There were still ALOT of glitches. Such as most of my pictures didn't show up on the kiosks....only about half. Alot of the photographers didn't ask for our card and there didn't seem to be a face recognition system like that on Royal Caribbean. And Shutters was still an utter mess!!!

Any other questions? What did I miss?

No problem!

They really could make alot more money once they get it all worked out. I ended up paying 240 dollars for my package....but I would have paid even up to 300 dollars for a CD with clear images. Oh well!

The craziness of Shutters on that last night was nuts. I ended up not buying MORE pictures because I couldn't handle standing in the line.

Shouldn't they have the same thing they have at Disney World where you can bring home the card/number and look at your photos later online? That would be soooo much easier. I know I would order more!

Sorry, I see someone already mentioned that! The online thing when you get home would be great though!

I think what they do is try to get you all sentimental about your pics. They figure if they let you go home and look at your budget you may not buy anymore stuff!!! But it would be so great to avoid searching for these pics all the time.

I am hoping they consider that while this may be true for some folks, the convenience of having digital images would far offset for others. I really like digital because I can then crop/alter/scrapbook them etc. On our last cruise I purchased a few 'paper' photos and ended up scanning them in to my computer, but the picture quality suffers. Anyway, fingers crossed for full Photopass features and in-room viewing capability.

I seem to think they would make a lot more money if they would do PhotoPass just like WDW does it. Especially as many people put the money into the CD. We have bought at least 5 CD's ourself. It's just my thoughts.
