Photopass on Magic

so will this system be up and running on the wonder too? we are going on the wonder in january...and i wondered if it will be in place?

Parag, Shutters Manager on the Wonder, and I had a talk about the new machines. Here's the information on them:

1. They will NOT replace the pictures in Shutters, all the pictures in Shutters will still be up.

2. The Photo Kiosks are on deck 3 and 4 on both the Wonder and the Magic. On deck 3 they are where the gingerbread house usually goes during Christmas, so the gingerbread house will be moved. There is one kiosk that is wheelchair friendly on deck 3, the other on deck three is triangular in shape with three viewing sides. They are both right by the staircase. The others are right above on deck 4 right outside Studio Sea at that end of the staircase. The live date is November 2nd although Parag said they might do a soft open on the prior cruise.

3. Yes, there are places on the kiosks for your memory cards, etc., but they will NOT be functional in phase 1 of the rollout for the kiosk machines.

4. You will use your KTTW card (just like photopass) when getting your pictures taken. Then when you get to the photo kiosk you will insert your KTTW card to look at your pictures. You can order your pictures right from the kiosk and not go looking for them on the wall, but they will still be up in Shutters on the wall. When you order your pictures, it will print a receipt, but you will NOT be charged for the pictures until you pick them up from Shutters.

5. Once you disembark the ship, the photos will NOT be available anymore, you will not be able to access them once you get home, unlike photopass.

Hope that clears up some of the questions.

Thank you so much for the detail makes sence to phase it in,

will you be able to purchase a CD at the end of the cruise with all the photos on it, like Photopass at WDW? And, if so, is there a price cap on the CD like WDW?

Sonny I agree, the 15 night cruise was a nightmare to find photos I know more were taken of us in the Canal itself but only found 1 photo of at least 5.

We got lucky. We made sure we went every day to check. We bought a package at the beginning and would pick through the pictures every day. We would stack some and did our best to remember what pictures were taken when. The one we searched for the hardest was the Panama picture. We were pretty sure they took one of us on our balcony. I finally found it behind someone elses photo!! We had to make a concerted effort though!! Man photopass would have made that so much easier!!

We checked ours every day but I wasn't as lucky as you, following on from my 2005 Rep and a princess cruise, I knew the drill how to wave and get the shutters staff attention, I know we were in direct shot form our verandah 4>5 times, But couldn't find most of them.

Photo-pass would stop that in the future!

There was others in the cruise which went missing,, maybe so bad other cruisers bined them for me!!!!

Doesn't sound like Photopass would have helped since only those that you gave your KTTW for would be viewable, thus the Castaway Cay picture issue mentioned

Having photopass will be great.

Does anyone know if they will have a CD available to buy like in the parks?

I wonder why they can't provide a small photopass card at the DCL terminal when you check in with a wrist band like they have on photopasses at the water parks. This could be tied around lanyards or put on the wrist at CC.

Hello All!!!

On board the Disney Wonder and they are installing PhotoPass as we speak!!!! It's pretty exciting!

Go Disney Cruise Line!!!!!

Great news. Improvement on the old system and less paper waste, not to mention employee time savings on the printing/filing.

Can't wait to try it out.

Sorry,

That was me starting the new thread.

Pretty exciting stuff. I hope the lines at the kiosks are not like the mob at shutters.

As said on your other thread no problem,

I reported a long time back, on these boards that I was asked on a survey about photo-pass, it was very specific about what 'we' wanted when its introduced.

There has been the odd poster over the months, saying it wont come in due to contract issues but that wasn't the case, its been discussed with all the parties involved for some time now.

I really hope for a full system that will cut the lines and make locating your photos easy and save the environmental waste of all those photos being developed and not purchased, -in due course.

This is very similar to the system on Royal Caribbean. We sailed on Navigator of the Seas last March. At first I couldn't understand why they kept asking for a room key for every portrait and I was hesitant to give it. They said, "Don't worry, it won't charge on your card."
When we finally went to look at pictures I finally understood how it worked. The only problem we encountered with it was that we were travelling with 3 other couples and each time we did a group photo, it was on different couple's stateroom cards. So when we swiped our key in the kiosk, it only displayed the photos taken with our card. We finally all got together near the end to swipe everyone's card to see all of the group photos.
It was our 1st RC cruise so we'll know for next time to put them all on 1 card.

They still printed lots of photos to walk through too and they couldn't be viewed in the staterooms.

Thank you for the information that is very helpful, and I am sure people cruising soon with the new photo-pass system can use your guidance.

The strange thing is, other cruises lines have been doing this for some time, Disney have been doing it some time in the parks, so have the system, and they have had this under consultation for a long time, hence the question why did it take so long as, it wasn't any contract issue.

it's a shame they still print up the pictures. I can understand printing the welcome aboard pictures and CC pictures, but any others should just be done as ordered. It will save shutters lots of money in the end. I am hoping to take another magical cruise next year if all goes well and looking forward to trying this system out. Now if they can only get billing on the tv, that would make my life so much easier.

I think this will be part of a phased in basis, and they will keep reviewing the actual sales, if photopass takes off with high sales through the terminals the photos on the boards will reduce and be phased out, but if people prefer to still see them, they could have both systems running.
