I was thinking about the pre order of the photopass cd and have a few questions for those who have done it :goodvibes

1. Once you order your cd how long does it take to get delivered to the UK and is it by post or courier?

2. When do you put all the borders etc on your photos - do you have to do that in the parks somewhere or on the Photopass site when you get home?

3. Can you get the waterpark photos on photopass? Do you have to carry the card about with you?

4. I have seen some photos with the kids holding Tinkerbell or Simba - how do you go about getting these done?

Thanks :thumbsup2

1. Can't answer that one, I've never done it. We just don't bother with the borders and buy in the parks and get the three free photos.

2. You add the borders on the Photopass site once they are available (usually within 24hrs of the photo being taken). So if you have internet access while you are on holiday you can start adding the borders, then you can keep adding them until 30 days after the first photo is taken, by which point you need to place the order.

3. Yes you can. The water park photopass cards are smaller than the regular credit card sized one, and are attached to a stretchy bracelet so you can wear them around the park. They also have a code on them that you just enter into your account, and those photos are automatically added.

4. To get the special photos you just need to ask the Photopass photographer, then they will put you in the right position to take the photo. The special characters are added afterwards. We have Tinkerbell and Simba photos, but I think there is a Stitch one as well. There maybe be other ones, but that's the three I know about.

Can answer number 1 for you ... we submitted the order for the CD on Sunday 27th April, and it was delivered by courier (UPS, I think) last Monday 5th May.

Photos are great quality - got about 400 in the end, including all the borders, character autographs, and other enhancements. We added these all online once we returned.

We got a couple of photos with the kids 'holding' Stitch in the palms of their hands - the photopass photographer just suggested that they pose in that way. They didn't realise why at the time, but DW and I had a bit of an 'aha' moment, and were pleased with the result when we saw it online.

All in all I would recommend doing the pre-order. If you come back and don't think you've got enough good quality photos to make it worthwhile then you can always get a refund and just get the prints separately that you're interested in. However, we were surprised at just how many really good shots we got.

Just wanted to check something with regards to the time frame. We are going for 21 days so say we had our first photo taken on day one there, once we got back after 21 days we would only have 9 days to edit them online before we had to order the cd?

You have 30 days from the day the photo was taken to claim them ( ie add the photopass card number onto your photopass account) and then they last 30 days for editing etc before they expire.

So if you wait till you get home to claim them you have 30 days from then to edit them.

Hope all that makes sense!

Elise

PS A tip I read somewhere on here was keep a note of your card numbers so if you lose the card you can still claim the photos :thumbsup2

Elise, yes that makes sense thank you. I had visions of myself frantically adding borders and things to all of my photos to get them done in time, but once I've claimed all photopass cards then 30 days is plenty to work through them all with the added features. :)

That's a good tip too to keep a note of all the photopass numbers, I'm sure it's quite easy to mislay them.

Thanks again

We always claim our photos while we are away via in-room internet because we leave DD at home, so activating them while away allows him to look at what we've been up to, so in our case it would be xdays remaining by the time we got home. Depends on whether you want to see them while you're away I guess.

One of the photopass photographers at the Studios gave us a variation of this - take a photo with your own digital camera of the photopass cards, just in case you lose them. Also a great idea for annual pass numbers, etc - anything with a reference number in fact.

Jackie although this may have changed since pre-order,on our last trip-which was the first with Photopass-we just went to Expedition Hall on our last day & had the CD printed then,we then had 30 days from when we first registered the CD on the Photopass site. What has changed though is the ability to add borders etc. as at that time you only got the special effects if you ordered your photo from WDW- We had a great photo taken outside Haunted Mansion beside the Hearse, where they added a ghostly driver & ghosts coming out of the HM,only to find after the 30 days the effects had disappeared! Just be aware that very few rides are on Photopass (Test Track is) unless this has also changed.

Have you looked into doing a Photopass share?

There is loads of info on it on the budget board here - but basically you join a group of say 5 or 6 families, all of whom are going to WDW at roughly the same time.

1 person from the group purchases the cd and lets everyone have the id number of it.

The everyone has their pics taken as usual, uploads it onto the username id specified by the 'group leader'.

Then the cd arrives with group leader, they burn 5 or 6 copies off and send them out to everyone.

That way it will cost everyon about $20 instead of $100 plus.

Have a look on the budget boards, there is loads of info on there and people discussing dates etc

I thought this was a great idea :)

I think all your questions have been answered. I used it for the first time last year and preordered it. What I really liked is having the four of us on loads of photos for a change. Usually it is me taking the photos (left, right and centre) but having the family together made a lovely change, especially as my kids are getting bigger (19 and 17) so I don't know how many family holidays we have left.

Although its recommended to wait till you get home to start the viewing period (30 days) we happened to see ours on a computer screen when we went for our Grand Floridian photoshoot. After the shoot the photographer wanted us to have a quick look and we explained we had lost one card (were not sure whether it was the card with a few on or the one with a load on) and she tried to look at the cards we did have to see which one we had lost. It was then we noticed a few were out of focus, mostly in Epcot, so we went back the next day to have them retaken. We made a note of the number of the first card we had but DH went and accepted a 2nd card from a photographer even though I wanted to give him the first card and it was him that ended up losing it at BB. We ended up with about 6 cards by the end of the holiday!

We're going to pre-order the PhotoPass for the first time next trip. I found this site, mentioned on a previous thread, very helpful.

**Great Tip** Give your child the pass to look after **
DS was given the water park cards with the stretchy bracelet which he kept on all the time
These work in all the Parks so every time he seen the Photopass peson he went up and got his photo taken
I just took a photo of the pass so if it got lost I had the number , but he never lost it
you can add as many cards as you want to the CD

any offers on pre ordering the CD , I got 20% off last yearjust checked it out
Yes there is a 20% discount now
most ordered it soon

Thanks for all your replies - what appeals to me is the fact we may get some decent photos with us all in for a change :)

What is the maximum amount of photos you can get taken?

No limit as far as I know. Then once you are at home you can add frames or crop photos saving each version, so you can have a few different photos from the original one.

It is worth it just to get the whole family on a photo. The photographers are only at certain spots in each park but we just grabbed them everytime we saw one but not when we were first going into the parks (mad dash for rides took priority).

last year I brought mine when at the photo shop from epcot, however this year I am going to order in adavnced.

If you have your main card for in the parks with you at the water parks, at the end of the day or anytime really go to where the towel rental is and they will add all of the water parks/small card photo's onto your main card.
Also as mentioned earlier take a digital photo of your photopass ID number should you lose it, that way they can create a copy for you from the ID number.
If you are neaer your 30days you can call and they will extend another 30days for you also.

hope all this helps they really are good value and that added bonus of the borders etc.
