They just posted the news on their Facebook status:
News Update for our Facebook Fans: As of March 21st, 2012 the price of Disney’s PhotoCD will be $169.95. If you're planning to order a PhotoCD, take advantage of the current price and order yours before the 21st of this month.

The current price is $149.95.

How far in advance can you pre-order?
I just looked at their website out of curiosity wondering the same thing. We are going in June and want to order now in case the price does go up.

It said that the pre-order does not expire but the photopass photos expire and you need to make sure that you order the cd and/or book prior to the photopass photos expiration.

By reading this, it looks like there isn't a "too far in advance" for pre-order. I may go ahead and purchase it then before the 21st.

Sorry but what a rip-off! In all my years of getting Photopass disks I have a had less than 10 shots that were truly good shots. Most of the photogs act like they can't be bothered taking more than one shot and rarely even have a smile on their face.

Plus they take the same type of shots with your own camera!

I bought one and then we had to cancel our trip. It sat in my account for over 1 year and it still worked. Once you pay for it they arent going to reclaim it. I dont know if we'll do one on this trip. Sorry for errors trying to type on phone

Wow. I wonder if they'll use some of that extra to train some decent photogs? I requested a refund on my pre-order for our January trip after getting about 100 pics, only 3 or 4 of which were good enough for me to be interested in printing. There were fewer photographers around than I've ever seen and the ones by the park icons all had people stacked up waiting, and the pictures we did have taken were just not very good at all.

I'm still waiting on the refund too. They told me 5 weeks ago to that it could take up to two billing statements, so I'm going to give it a couple more weeks before contacting them again.

I agree with this. I have been preordering the photoCD since 2008 and have always been happy until last year. I still had enough good photos to justify ordering the CD(thanks to the photoshoot we did after BBB and Jedi Training) but was very disappointed in the rest. Especially our family photo with the 7 dwarfs at MNSSHP. The picture was taken after dark and its like they took it with no flash. Its almost completely black:sad1: We usually just bring a small point and shoot camera because we count on the Photopass to supplement. However, as of this year we will be bringing our SLR to ensure we do not miss any really important shots.

Having said all that, I still pre-ordered. I will just ask for a refund if I am unhappy. I do hope the cost of the pre-order does not go up with this change but am sure it will.

I preordered one when Emily and I did our girls trip last November. The pictures were horrible. We ended up with about four decent photos on the whole thing. Many were taken into the sun, washed out, the color was off, etc. I'd much rather just ask someone to take a few pictures with my camera for free.

When I pre-ordered ours for our trip in 2010, there was a pre-order price of $99. Can you still do that or is the pre-order price as of right now $149?

We are planning on returning this June, but I don't know if I want to pay the higher price.

Thanks!

When we went in Sept 2012, I pre-ordered in March. I'm thinking about pre-purchasing now for our June 2013 trip since it doesn't expire...every little bit saved helps! If you pre-purchase, it sits out on your account as a credit until you actually order the Photo CD, then the credit is used. :thumbsup2

here's the pre-order link....it still is working for $ 99 for the CD and $ 149.95 for the Ultimate Memory package

Thank you for the link! Another post said on the 21st the preorder price will be $129.00 so that is a big difference! I am ordering mine now for our June trip! :goodvibes

Anyone know how many you can preorder at a time? I have several trips coming up. I just don't want to preorder two and then the first trip then send me two of them instead of just one? Anyone ever had multiple trips and preordered multiple at a time?

We used photo pass preorder last year. It was a good thing for what it was as my dh forgot our camera and video camera in my brother in law's car when he dropped us off at the airport. But I would never purchase it again and especially not with the price increase! The pictures were nice but they were far and few. There should be more photopass photographers around the parks especially when the characters are out.
