So my photography drama continues...

I'd like to ask a few questions to you all about your photography experience...

Did your photographer retouch your prints? How many? All of them? Just the ones that went in the album?

How many artistic (black and white w/ touches of color, beaming sunlight accented) pictures did he give you? Did you request them? Did he offer? Were they extra money?

Thabks for all who can help me with this!

Well I am not sure who your photographer is but my photographer is going to touch up every single photo for color, lighting and integrity. There is no extra cost for all of the photo retouches and photo shopping. She has a very photo journalistic style so we should get great photos.

My package includes:
-8 hours of photography
-4x6 bordered prints of every edited image presented in archival print boxes
-Renaissance or Kambara 10x13 28-30 page matted album (up to 80 images)
-2 8x8 Kambara matted albums (20 pages, 30 images)
-Bridal and engagement session w/ 4x6 prints of all edited images (I swapped my bridal portraits for additional hours of wedding coverage as I won't get a chance to have them before the wedding)
-6 5x7 prints
-4 8x10 prints
-1 16x20 mounted print
-1 guest signature book
-High res DVD of all edited images w/ copyright release

Package total $6,500 + $500 for airfare

We are going to use the 2 8x8 albums as parent albums and we are swapping the 4x6 prints for rehearsal and rehearsal dinner coverage.

Hope that helps

Skylarr, thanks for all the info! I'm shopping around for a photographer because I don't think I want Disney and Randy, the roots, and Misty are all booked... I got an email from a photographer I was really interested in, but feel I might not get the "glowing" pictures the mentioned photographers give the Disney brides on here... I'm just stressed! :sad1:

My photos were all post processed as part of the package. She did a beautiful job, bringing out they uniqueness of the image without making it look contrived.

I also had many artistic images. The photographer I chose was very photo journalistic and had a great eye for style. I didn't have any specific shots that I requested, but I don't feel she missed a moment.

Is there a concern you have with your photographer?

The thing is I don't have a photographer... :sad1:

The ones i wanted are booked and the others I have been looking at aren't exactly what I wanted. There is one photographer who I've been emailing back and forth, he says he doesn't photoshop every photo because of how many photos he takes... :confused3 I'm trying to see if that's normal?

I'm gonna post what he wrote to see if this is normal photography stuff. I just don't even know anymore! :sad2:

"All images are adjusted for color, density contrast and saturation. I normally don't do selecetive colorization because I am not a big fan of it, but would be happy to do one ( at my discretion ) for you if you would like. I do not retouch all of the images for blemishes due to the number of images I normally take. If you would like me to provide a DVD of all portraits retouched additional fees would apply. I do however retouch any images that you would like me to create as a custom print or any images that you include in a custom album purchased through the studio."

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Have you contracted photography by Taz?? I know some Disney brides that have been happy with his work (just trying to give you suggestions)

That sounds about right. I'm not really big on selective colorization either. I've seen some beautiful examples (on this site especially) but it isn't my favorite effect. The "glow" effect is usually done by bringing out the highlights, so it's not hard to achieve.

The most important thing when choosing a photographer is that you like their style. Some people like a more traditional style, other artistic, others photo journalistic. If the photographer doesn't have the style you're after, you won't be happy with the results.

Don't worry, you'll find someone you love!

Sjylarr, you're so great! Gary is who I'm looking into now and he's a frontrunner, I just want my pics to glow! I've looked into Taz as well... so talented and his prices are so reasonable... I'm just stuck on other peoples photos and want mine to have the same effects because everyone on here is beautiful, but they just made them look outta this world and it's their wedding day... it should be that way!

I don't even know anymore... this is the one thing that has gotten me freaked out over my wedding... everything else is smooth sailing...

have u considered changing your date to one where one of the photographers you're intrested in is available? or is that out of the question? just throwing ideas around for you :goodvibes

I was hoping you'd come along and put your two cents in... you're awesome! I was thinking that actually, but it's all kinda set in stone for my family and guests and school schedule and my kids schedules... I might check to see if anything comes up for Tuesday December 2, 2008... the day after... hhmmm what to do!

Thanks!

I think Gary is a good choice. Trust your gut. I remember one particular bride and I believe her photos are what you are looking for. She had some great black and whites and great glowy photos and lighting affects. I think most choices are better than Disney lol. What he probably means when he says all of his photos aren't touched up is probably that only the best ones will be. I agree that it would be silly and time consuming to touch up every photo. Like some photos might just be of people or objects but they might not be artistic photos that need touching up. Am I making sense lol?!

Also, I know a lot of people like Randy but I would go with Gary over him. Randy does not touch up photos. He does photo shop a few of the photos though but as far as I know most of them are 'regular'. We used him for engagement photos and then found a new photographer that was what we were looking for. Don't get me wrong, Randy does great work, we just find it inconsistent and it wasn't what we were looking for.

Well you are probably in better hands with Gary Fox or Taz than Disney...just my personal opinion ;)

Skylarr is right though, randy doesn't retouch his photos. not to toot my own horn or anything though, but mine didnt need it. he took well over 2000 pics...if he retouched them all id be waiting til our 50th anniversary for our wedding pics :rotfl: they really only need to be retouched if your enlarging them & i have almost 100 photoshopped images

hello
i understand your angst.
i also wanted the photos that were editied and all becouse i love love them. but i went with the gut and went with a photograoher mainly for the way they shot phots and becouse they were personable etc.
i love all my photos and do not regret not having all the special effects but i have to say just for fun i bought a cheap editor program and i have done some myslef. i feel i got the best of both worlds.
remember most photogrpahers gie you the rights so you can always have them edited in the future.

hope this helps
