Meant to say, Amazing Shot! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: I knew you could do it!

Thanks Pea! I went there on a whim. When we first pulled up I asked a girl that worked there if I can find a torpedo nearby, you should have seen the look on her face :rotfl2: Apparently, no one had ever requested a torpedo:confused3 I figured, oh well the boys and I are still going to have a good time. Just before the day was over BAM there it was!

Thank you Linda but I really didn't like it. From this I learned how to put my flash in high sync mode and this one is better.

Roger, can I say I love both of the shots!! But I do like the first one because the bird is in mid-air on approach!! It must take a lot of patience to get those photos!!

Thanks for sharing.

Aw, the newborn babies are gorgeous!

The Cub Scout emblem is different in the UK - am hoping to get a shot of it soon as my boy moves up to Scouts.

Just a couple from me - hoping to get some more today.

Navy ship with naval officer (I know he's small but he's there!)

I am doing a photography course at the moment and I have just learned how to use the camera in manual mode - this was one of my first shots.

Well, I have just come in from a foray into the night to try and get a few more photos for the hunt! I did get a few odd looks but I shrugged them off and came out with a couple of half decent photos (I think!!) Anyway, I will post them now, but as these are my first attempts I will no doubt try again for better!

(There are headlights on the other side of the street - you can just see them!! Hidden by trees in the middle of the road.)

Can I just say Linda, once again, that this scavenger hunt idea is brilliant!! I am so loving getting out and practicing with the camera. I have been thinking of all the opportunities that I can get out and about and find these items!! And I am loving seeing everyone elses shots too - very imaginative and informative!

Thank you! I can't take credit for the idea itself - that came on the "Ideas for Assignments" thread. I'd done a Scavenger Hunt IRL, though, and we had a blast with it, so I figured this could be really fun, too. (But I also knew we had some problems with items at the end - what counted and what didn't, lol.) So once I decided to do it I put a lot of thought into how it would work online, what the rules would be, how to make it fun, what items to look for, and how it embraced the concept of the Assignments, etc. A lot of people IRL helped me brainstorm, and many of them wanted to join in even though they most of them don't do photography! :rotfl: So thanks, I'm glad people are enjoying it. I am, too!

That's fine if it's your UPS equivalent. :thumbsup2

Pean-n-Me...I posted a "thesis" on thread 507, page 34 on the Australian equivalent of Capital Dome....can you check if this is okay as well? I know one of the other Aussies is going to head down to Melbourne and if you are happy with my research, she may also want to be given the opportunity to photograph Capital Dome....

Thanks :)

If it's a capital dome, it should count. Link to thread?

Great shot! :goodvibes

Thank you so much, I think I could have posted a whole thread with all the shots I took of her!

Thanks again for all the time and work you put into this, it has kept my kids and I very busy this summer:rotfl2:

It's definitely a dome. Is the city a capital? If yes, then it's fine.

Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria. And historically, its the only other city in Australia aside from Canberra that has ever been a capital city of Australia!

Thank you. I'll mark down the 6 points! :thumbsup2

Bird Eating Close Up* (Replaces previous entry) Moving away from the carnivorous birds we've seen lately. This is the Noisy Miner feeding on nectar.

Celebration of Independence The American Women's Association was running a celebration in the local park on 3rd July 2010. It was a bit of a fizzer due to damp weather. These are as close as I could get!

Kite in Flight* My day in the park wasn't all a wild goose chase. Taking a shot of a kite in flight is a lot harder than I thought!

This set is all hobby related

My Hobbies I love travelling and shopping. Here is how I combine the two activities...I have a Printer's Tray (used to hold all the font letters for a printing press) and I buy trinkets from all over the world (the real world, not just Walt Disney) and store in here. I have souveniers from Asia, Europe, America and Africa, which I hope you can pick out.

Itty Bitty This is the smallest bottle of Scotch Whiskey in the world, purchased in Edinburgh (see My Hobbies picture and play spot the bottle). At a pinch, I am guaranteed of having at least 1 ml of Scotch left in the house.

Moose* I bought this in Quebec City (see My Hobbies picture and play spot the moose). I had no idea it was going to be worth deux points!
0703MooseJuly02.jpg

p.s. That moose that shushh found sure moves around a lot in Oz!

Famous Landmark* I bought this in New York City and should have realised that bigger is not always better. She doesn't fit on my printer's tray and has to sit on my mantlepiece instead.

PrincessInOz, I love your printer tray. I have one filled with thimbles from places I have gone too. I actually need to find another one now.
